Up until quite recently this train would have been hauled by a single class 60 locomotive , now , having switched over to class 66 haulage , it requires 2 locomotives as they don't have quite the same haulage ability as the class 60 ( Tug ) .
A class 59 would have pulled it quite easily. I don’t know if a class 60 used to pull this train. But yeah a 66 isn’t powerful enough. A class 666 would be able to pull tho can do almost like 4000tone maybe a little less
Probably , more to do with gearing than power . Class 66/6 can haul more than other 66's due to lower gear ratio and of course the 60 being the lowest geared of all deserves it's 'Tug' nickname , they all have quite similar horsepower ratings though . @@Phil-uv8nq

As a young boy 70 years ago we had all English Imperial sizes like feet and inches and pounds and ounces and I was taught this at school and left school to become bricklayer and then Goverment took us into Europe and we adopted their system of metrication but because it was too costly to change all the road signs fom miles to kilometres we kept some of our imperial sizes and adopted Europe's and young apprentices like me and school kids in general had to relearn and buy hew tape measures and I for one never really converted and to this day I still talk in feet and inches and then convert it to metric,it was allways messy and disruptive as for instance to this day you can go into a timber yard and buy say a 4mt length of timber that is still classed as true 3 x 2 inches or 6mts x 9 x 3 inch, hope this explains.😂
