I,for one, never question what you do because I know you have researched everything to the hilt. No doubts ever in my mind about the quality of this build! You're rocking it!
I'm clapping my hands in pure glee for y'all!! Things will really start flying now. I'm not sure I have been happier for a stranger before. LOL But, I am stinking happy for all four of y'all! You've stuck it out and toughed it out. Now is your time and y'all deserve every ounce of it too! Yay!!
No rigid insulation below slab? No in slab radiant tubing? No floor drains? No rebar or welded wire mesh?
Amazing that you couldn’t get contractors up there to do the build but all these folks are willing to bring the pieces. Nuts.
Appears one of the smartest things you've done is make basement door big enough for equipment to go in & out!! Really excited for you and steps closer to finishing your dream home.
Looks like that concrete outfit does top notch work!
The basement looks great, can't wait to see the next phase of the building project.
Oh lawdy! A floor a ceiling and another floor ... With walls, too! Civilization is marching in! Looks amazing guys. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride! Next winter will be warm & snuggly :D
It’s been so exciting watching your progress. So happy things are falling into place for you guys.
Glad we've had such good weather for you to be able to get this much accomplished.
I would have put floor drains in.
Thanks very much for sharing the journey of your house build with us and it’s great to see the progress each week. Really informative and i bet you can’t wait to move in :)

It's starting to look like a house! Very nice slab and I'm certainly glad you decided to seal it. Looking forward to watching the first-floor wall pours and then the interior wall development.

You are doing a great job. Congratulations...so happy for your progress.
Having quite a few miles of 'one wheel dump truck' behind me that power buggy sure looked nice. Looks like it all went well and putting in the control cuts the next day was wise as well.

Looks great another step closer. Hang in there.
This is very exciting. Coming along so well. Best wishes and home blessings.
Very impressive workers, very impressive design. It’s going to be so great.
Beautiful Job. Smart investment having them seal it. LOOKS FANTASTIC‼️👍👍. Vinny 🇺🇸
Wow! We had to spray the ground before the plastic and had to have concrete wire (looks like a fence) then inspection then we could pour.
You two are moving right along. You could have your big house done before we get our little house done.
Good morning. Looking really great! Your basement is similar to ours, except the cement was poured in with a long arm. We did not have a cap, as our modular home unit WAS the sub flooring. Its going to go fast now. you must be over the moon! Our newly poured foundations walls and floor still contained a lot of natural moisture when we moved in November 2016. But we had a large airtight wood stove in the center of the basement to help it cure. You view is amazing. We are deep in the woods. A sump pump might be cheap insurance.
Hey. Look at you guys. Coming along nicely!
Great job
Great series! The house is coming along great!
Now that,is a beautiful sight:-)
Donna
It is getting so exciting. Love this👍🇨🇦💝
Hi everyone. I follow you religiously. I have learned a lot from all of your videos; from canning, solar, appliances, chickens, construction, all have been informative. I plan on building my own house and follow in your prepper footsteps, but something I see that is a concern is no insulation under the slab. I know you are planning on doing a food storage area here besides the small pantry upstairs. Is this why you went with this option? For a colder basement temperature for food preservation or a root cellar? Again love your channel and keep sharing. A friend from way down south in the heart of Dixie!
This is great! Love these videos :) Best regards from Sweden
Why didn't you put rebar in or wire mesh and why did you not put insulation underneath to help keep the basement warmer?
Hiddenite is world famous for Emeralds. Any luck on your property? My friend, back in the 1970's, went down there and came back with a 125 pound Smokey Quartz Crystal. He overstayed his vacation, the land owner dug a foot more down in the trench and hit a HUGE Emerald strike. You guys are great! Thank You
So happy for you guys...
Thank you for sharing this building process. It would appear as if you are a very good general contractor, Jeremy.
I'm so excited for you guys! It won't be long now. :D
Fingers crossed on the weather!!!
Great to see your dreams unfold
seems far away but closer with each part done . nice job.
Wow, money well spent they did a great job.
Love them blue 24v power tools.
I’m curious what about water lines, sewage pipes, no rebar in the floor? Or even wire mats. I know they have that fiber concrete now but still I would think some kind of metal would be a good idea. Even if you use composting toilets I know you have a well please tell about your plan for addressing those things.
wow your place is coming together !
Yeah, another video. Way to go guys, git her done
every area has it's own unique way of doing things. Where we live, sand has to be trucked quite a distance so it's expensive. Crushed rock is abundant and that's what typically is used under slabs here. I put 2" of foam under my basement slab and installed radiant tubing. It's incredibly comfortable paired with the ICF foundation.
What type of crushed rock? I’m worried 57 lime stone will poke through the vapor barrier. I’m thinking 57 round river rock but that won’t pack well. I’ve seen other use 57 limestone, then sand, then vapor, then foam.
@@neckofthewoods24 It's 3/4 minus crushed limestone. Where we live, I've not seen anyone use a vapor barrier under their slab. the soil here is well drained. Basically I'm sitting on solid rock.
@@neckofthewoods24 If you use foam you put it on top of the foam otherwise think you would need to put some sand on top of the gravel to keep from tearing the plastic and I would have used at least 10 mil plastic no matter what code is.
tee kay I’ve never see anyone put the plastic on top of the foam as foam can absorb moisture over time. Also I know they make thicker plastic but I’ve only ever seen people use 6mil. If 10mil isn’t crazy more I’m not opposed to it.
Nice floor.. If you spray some xylene on the sealer where it turned white from the rain it will turn clear again.
It's great to see your progress during the winter months. It can be difficult. For others watching this video... if you are are going to heat/cool the space in a basement area, pour your slab with at least 2 inches of EPS foam or Rockwool insulation under the poly and concrete. It breaks the thermal bridge, reduces the cost of heating, and the floor will be warmer to your toes year around.
Where does the vapor barrier go then...between the sand and insulation or between the insulation and concert slab?
@@briangroene7756 , any layer above the sand or gravel. Most often I see the 10+ mil poly (vapor barrier) between the insulation and slab with all of the poly seams taped. It's primary function is to keep moisture from the soil layer (gravel or sand) from seeping into the slab and if done right will also keep radon from infiltrating the basement.
Hey you guys it’s looking great. Hubby and I were watching and thinking.... The way you can and garden you might want to use any excess sand or cement for a greenhouse close to the house. Whatever your decisions are we love watching your progress it was just a thought.
