Laci
It's so refreshing to have you back and posting videos again!! We, the neighborhood missed you :) Congratulations on all your amazing life updates, and YAY to having you back ❤
Thanks so much! I’m happy to be back!
I believe the print on the skirt is Rip Van Winkle. The short story was written by American author Washington Irving in 1819 about a dutch-American villager who avoids the American Revolution by sleeping for 20 years. His long white beard is very apparent in this print. Incredible haul as always ❤ your thrift hauls are always my favorites 😘
The pink dish is a mid century modern handled and footed ceramic bowl/dish by Bell of California used for nuts and candies.
I'm old and I've decided that I'm coming back as your next cat.
It’s a good day when Laci posts a new video! 😁
Ahh yay!
I just discovered your channel today. I'm in my 70s so I grew up with many of things you had on today and I still love them. In fact I have a 1960 Zenith color television in my front room right now. I haven't turned it on in years because I am afraid it might blow up 😂😂. I've subscribed to your channel so I will be looking forward to more of your shows. 🐈⬛️🐈
I believe your skirt is a print of Rip Van Winkel, Who fell asleep for 100 years .
better than my guess - i thought it was a wizard with a very long beard but the hat wasn't right for a wizard
I didn’t even think of that but maybe!!
You must be correct. I saw a guy lying down in a haystack but didn't connect the dots! Makes sense now!
Yup! I was chiming in to say the same. He sleeps on his beard (the white part) and under his sun hat.
I chose those Franciscan dishes when I was married in 1958. My daughter now has them. You have some pieces I’ve never seen. How lucky!
I am not familiar with the set but I love the pattern.
Stretch glass vases have actually gone up in value in the last year. A vase the size of your new green one is now selling for closer to $80, so $.25 is a steal! Great find!
Great haul! It's so nice to see you back, making videos!!! So many fun things! Having a look at that sweet skirt print, I assume it's supposed to be a stylized Rip VanWinkle.
I bought a 1958 Motorola 10T28M tube radio from an antiques store in the Detroit area in December. I had it mechanically restored, and now it sits in my living room as my main source of entertainment. I love it! They don't make anything today that sounds even half as good, and it still looks almost new.
That’s awesome!
Oh my goodness! I love the Franciscan Starburst dinnerware. The lady who owned them kept them in marvelous condition. I'm sure she would be so happy to know that someone who loves and appreciates them has them now. What a beautiful Christmas surprise!
You have such a beautiful light inside and it just shines through when you talk about your treasures and lifestyle. You are an inspiration and I'm so happy you share this part of your life with us!
So happy you found all these items. They are in good hands. They will be loved and cared for from now on.
Thanks so much!!
So lovely to have you back on RUclips! The glasses and ice bucket to match you shaker, and the dish set! Wow! 😍
Beautiful dishes. I especially when you do cooking/baking segments with the lovely vintage gadgets you’ve acquired.
Thanks! I definitely have some more gadgets to test out.
Loving the cake set. I like the fact that you take your time and make all your cakes by hand. Now everyone wants the instant betty crocker cake mixes lol.
Thanks! I definitely still use cake mixes sometimes 😅but it’s fun to try the vintage recipes.
That pink thing might be where a hosts would put cigarette ashes. My Grandma had a dimilar thing but it was sterling silver with a longer handle.
Now you need to have a vintage style cocktail party with 50’s style appetizers ; use your rocket ship drink mixer, wear your vintage skirt with hoopla and play your chuck a luck game. Love the poodles! BTW, the suddenly appearing cat at 22:10 cracks me up!
I'm so happy for you to find the dish set!! So thoughtful of your partner to find it for you!! I've been on the hunt for that set since 2014 or so. Love all of your vintage treasures and your videos. Thank you for sharing with us
Thanks so much!! I still can’t believe it.
That truly is a holy grail find!! I was in an antique store at the Pasadena mall last year and they were selling 3-piece sets for well over $100 each. What a blessing!
Oh wow. Yeah I still can’t believe it!!
I love the blue hobnail S/P shakers 😍$5 was a steal!
What cool finds! The full skirt with the interesting print----maybe that white figure is a Cabaret Cockatoo dancing the can-can with it's human-like legs and brown fedora?? Haha, what fun! You look so pretty (as always!) and I love the dress you're wearing . Happy for you to receive the Franciscanware!!!
Haha maybe!!! Your guess is as good as mine!! Ahh thanks so much!
It’s a real Rorschach test of a print. Maybe a sea horse with a feed bag on its nose?
17:10 The fabric print on the skirt looks to me like an elderly man in repose in a field of green; the elderly man has a hat and bushy white eyebrows and mustache, shoulder-length white hair that flows into an enormously long beard covering his body, so only part of his legs are visible. It reminds me of the Rip Van Winkle story of a man falling asleep for twenty years, lying by the base of a tree.
I think the skirt looks like it has a cockatoo laying stretched out on his back and the black lines are his legs.
Is that supposed to be Rip Van Winkle in the pattern of the dress? I see an old guy with a hat, laying back in the grass, with his long white beard wrapped around him and his long black legs sticking up because they are bent at the knee.
That is the very same cake decorating set my mother had, and I grew up learning to use. I actually still think its easier to use than the twisted bags we use today. 😊
Hi Laci! Maybe you did this already, but how about doing a [two-part] video on How to Plan a Dinner Party, and showcase a table setting using your new dinner ware. First part: planning the menu, using Vintage Cookbooks and Recipes. Making the Food. Part two: Show How to set table and coordinate Linens. How to garnish a la 1950s - think Jello salads, carrot curls, etc. Part 3? Making the cake for dessert, using your new vintage decorating set! Just some ideas! Keep going girl!
I have that same cake decorating kit. I got it for free at a yard sale because I told the lady I really liked the design of the box lol.
I saw some of those light covers at an Estate sale last weekend, but they were very plain looking and not pretty at all. I passed on them.
Love the turquoise glass! My favorite is probably the flower candy dish.
I love the Hoop-La packaging! I have a hoop skirt but mine is a more modern one, made for full ball gown like shapes. I bought it because I was going to a medieval fair and wanted my velvet dress to be poofy lol. I'd like to get one that's more like the Hoop-La for that 1950s skirt look.
Never heard of Chuck a Luck but that box is adorable!
That clothesline box is awesome, love the manual too!
One of the reasons I don't go to antique stores all that often is the prices. They're very overpriced...I mean yes, you will 100% find cool vintage stuff there guaranteed when compared to yard sales because yard sales are random...but I can't justify the prices at antique stores...
Very lucky on that swung glass vase...I haven't been able to find any swung glass...unless you count antique stores...I guess they're hard to find here?
Oh those poodle dog things...yeah, another thing that I haven't been able to find lol. They're so cute...I just want a couple lol.
Those glasses remind me of some frosted glasses I found at this...well I wouldn't call it a yard sale...more of a "I'm cleaning out my shed sale". The guy was a reseller but I made a good deal with him so...not too bad. Mine are state glasses though...and I don't have all the states lol. No idea on the age but they look 1950s-1960s to me because of the font used.
That's a really good price on Pyrex...thrift stores around here are getting wise to how much Pyrex can go for on eBay and price them stupidly high. Which is a real shame because I want to buy replacements for all the ones I damaged by washing them in the dishwasher :(
Oh man, I love the candle stick holders! Super funky!
I'm more of a fan of the 1957 Chevy Bel Air. The fins are what does it for me, I love them! But it has to be a turquoise and white one...I don't like it in any other color. I always look for it when I'm at a car show with my parents for Father's Day, I just love drooling over it. One day maybe I can own one...
That's a cool set! Love when you can finally complete a set after hunting and getting the pieces one by one lol. It's a great feeling.
That ashtray reminds me of the three ashtrays I found at a yard sale, two of them were the odd shaped 1950s-1960s ones we all know and the third one was all amber glass but it was just a circle shape. I accidentally knocked one of the odd shaped ones off the table I was cleaning and it broke...I was so heartbroken. I mean it was the...uglier of the three but it was still cool!! Still sad about that. I used Google Lens to look up that pink and black dish, all I can find for it is it's a trinket dish? Not really helpful lol.
That cocktail shaker is so cool, shame it's not true vintage but it's still really awesome.
I have no idea on that skirt, really odd pattern. I don't really buy vintage clothing because of my size...it's kind of impossible to find stuff for larger people. Even reproduction clothing is hard to find in my size...I've tried all the reproduction "vintage" style stores online...I'm just too big for their sizes.
Love the pattern on the candy jar. It reminds me of the chip and dip I found at a Goodwill...that some lady took the dip bowl and only bought it. Man that ticked me off. I left the chip part because I didn't have the dip and because the pattern was worn away in a lot of spots.
Well I am super envious...you're right, those dishes are the holy grail for collectors who love 1950s-1960s stuff. It's my grail as well...impossible to find. I haven't even seen any of it at antique stores...that's how rare it is. I obviously want the full set...even though I'd have a hard time using them...be so afraid I break something...but I'd be happy with ANY piece. Yet I can't find any! :(
I absolutely love your finds! I admire how you are living your passion and just being you ! I think your boyfriend is a keeper! He “GETS” you and understands who you are and what you love. Most people in my life just think I’m old fashioned and have old used junk🙀 so sad they don’t see the value in QUALITY made things and persevering history…oh well they are missing out in my opinion!🤗
I'm pretty sure the little guy on your skirt is Rip Van Winkle. My husband has a tattoo of him. I love the colors of it.
You made an incredible haul. I have always loved seeing your treasure. I'm a poodle mom, so those are definitely my favorites.
Your skirt is Rip Van Winkle…. Old tale about lazy guy who took a nap in his field and slept for years, woke up with long beard…etc.! Very cute!
Im sooooo greatful you are back Laci🩷♥️
I'm going to feel SO hip when I show off to my friends who come with me to antique malls that I (now) know the name of the Franciscan atomic starburst dinnerware. And...with that said, now I really want a coffee cup and saucer or two from that collection as well. Every time I think I'm done collecting vintage tea/coffee cups...I'm not!
Laci Fay, you are simply. The. Most.
So happy to see more videos! Love watching your videos and your vintage lifestyle! ❤
Yay! I’m so glad!
I would say the pink and black dish would be for loose cigarettes maybe? You always see in old movies where there is a tin or some container sitting out on a table and they open it and it's full of cigarettes. The stacked dish is deffinetley for candy and nuts. I have seen larger versions of the dice game in casino scenes in movies and always wondered what it was.
That is what I was thinking. Cigarette holder for the coffee table.
My grandparents used the Franciscan Starburst dishes for their “weekend dishes”. They used the Franciscan Apple dishes for every day use & the desert rose pattern for holidays. I remember it so clearly. My grandmother was very proud of her dish collection. I also love the pink light cover you got! It reminds me of my grandparents pink bathroom (pink bathtub, toilet, sink & tiles:). Lots of nostalgia in this video. Thank you for sharing! Edit- I love absolutely everything you got in this haul. Wow, just wow!! 😊
What a fantastic collection of Franciscan your grandparents had!! Franciscan Apple were my wedding dishes, but I really covet the desert rose 💕
@@PC-un7zf thank you! I didn’t realize as a child how special the dishes really were! 💕
The skirt looks like Rip Van Winkle who slept for a long long time and woke up and his beard was so long. And also love the dish set!!!!
Skirt print is Rip Van Winkle. The white portion is his that beard grew long while he was asleep for years.
That makes sense! I totally thought it looked like an old man sleeping 👍🏻
I love having you back on youtube! You were so lucky with your finds and pressies! So excited for you that you got your dream dishes! Those are GORGEOUS!!! I can't pick a single thing that was a favourite of mine. I need to explore more around my new area we moved to to find vintage treasures for me and my family! :D
17:10 The fabric print on the skirt looks to me like an elderly man in repose in a field of green; the elderly man wears a hat and has bushy white eyebrows and mustache, with shoulder-length white hair that flows into an enormously long beard, covering his body, so only part of his legs are visible. It reminds me of the Rip Van Winkle story of a man falling asleep for twenty years, lying by the base of a tree.
That is about right for the pyrex. I got the 4 bowl primary set at goodwill for less than 20 during lockdown. I was so excited.
That’s a great find!!
My favorite was the frosted pink light cover. pink is my favorite color.
The Franciscan set! What a fabulous score, Laci!
New subscriber here😊
So many great pieces, but yes the dishes are just OMG! I'm in process of watching your other videos. Love love love your channel❤❤❤
I LOVE the spaceship cocktail mixer! Great find!
I love you to the moon and back again ❤
Great video, so nice to see you back. My husband & I loved the Rip Van Winkle skirt, grew up in the Hudson Valley and he was very popular when we were growing up. Absolutely adore the rocket cocktail shaker I think that was my favorite of all the lovely things you found. Looking forward to seeing what else you uncover. Thank you for sharing!
I have my mother's Desert Rose Franciscan dishes. They are much treasured. Such an incredibly thoughtful gift.
Hey lovely!
Fabulous haul.. Love the books, glassware, just everything!!
Glad you are back my friend! xxx
So many good finds! I cannot wait to see how the hoopla does! I might have to make one cuz I love to be light and airy.
Thank you friend!! Yes! I need to give it a test run.
Heard of Chuck a luck in an old western movie seen on TCM. There was even a song about the game. Rancho Notorious 1952! I wonder if the pink/black dish is a "silent butler" like a crumb catcher. Anyway, all of your finds are wonderful. Enjoy!
Hey. Im a new sub. But im glad i found thjs. You remind me a lot of my great grandma, Helen. She kept her and my great granddad's house in Aspen Hill, MD pretty much as ot was in the 50s. Granddad Feser bought the house in '53 when he came home from Korea. She kept it that way until she moved to Leisure World in '17. Ahe sadly passed in '21. This reminds me of her so much. Thanks
Laci, I nearly screamed out loud when you showed the last wonderful gift! It's all lovely. As others said, your skirt is a rare 1950's atomic Rip Van Winkle! Which is pretty darn cool. If you google "Vintage 1950's Lavender rip Van Winkle Atomic Cotton Fabric" you'll see several examples of the lavender purple release of the fabric. (There's a really groovy dress that I've been eyeing for a long while. Lol.)
As someone who does a lot of business with vintage fabrics, you got your skirt for practically a song and a dance! Lol
What beautiful finds. Especially you atomic dishes. Wow! Just Wow!👏👏👏
The fabric skirt looks like Rip Van Winkle in the print.
E6000 glue might work if you need to repair or reinforce the crack on the beautiful pink light cover. I love your channel! Takes me back to growing up in the 1960s. Love it! The stackable dish is an apothecary jar set, I think. My mom always stored cotton balls and q-tips in ours in the bathroom back in the early 1960s. Mom called them apothecary jars.
Wowee that atomic dish find is amazing! Did you replace your current dishes with those? Or, do you rotate out? So fun!
L❤VE the Franciscan dishware! (I own a few pieces myself)
Do you happen to know the name of the pattern?
Another fun video, darlin; always so happy to see you! ~ Amy
Went thrifting yesterday found some pieces of Franciscan ivy china (like they used on I Love Lucy) I was lucky and got the pieces from the 1950s and not the 80s
I've just discovered your channel and what a delight! I can't believe your luck in finding such excellent treasures. I'd love to go thrifting in America! I adore the pottery poodles! I'm going to look for them here in Australia. Your channel is so enjoyable, thanks for brightening up my day!
Laci I spied a Holt Howard Pixieware Jam n Jelly in your kitchen! ❤ I only have the ketchup one unfortunately, but I’ve been obsessed with these for about 20 years now 😅
Lacy- haven't seen you for a while Didn't know how much I missed you l o l So glad you're back. ❤ By the way on the skirt.. First thing that came to my mind was a Rumpelstilskin Type character kicking back in a field of flowers instead of under a tree as the story goes. Long white beard Laying upon the grass white eyebrows and mustache That was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw it. Maybe a nose for what you thought was the beak??? Interesting how we all see something Different.
And I love all of your pieces especially what your boyfriend got you for christmas!
Great haul!!! I loved your treasured dishes!!! Enjoy using them!!! I look forward to a sample table setting in your new beautiful home with your beautiful dishes!!! How fun is that!
Someone may have mentioned it already but you should visit Ohio and go to The Heart of Ohio antique mall. I believe it's the biggest antique mall in the country. They have several booths with 1950s and 60s furniture and home goods.
Can you have a review about the 1950s toothpaste such as, Colgate, Pepsodent, Crest, & Gleem?
Dang Laci congrats on your dish set! I have a pretty nice collection of the Salem North Star version, but like you the Franciscan starburst version is my holy grail that I’m still looking for.
🚀✨🚀✨🚀
Love your videos! So happy you are back ! Missed seeing your beautiful smile!
Loved this video and all you beautiful things especially that skirt ❤️. From Australia
I have the oblong oval-Ish console, pink and black bowl and I also think I have another piece in that color in you’re interested.
Wow beautiful finds & gifts. The dishes are to die for!! You have a sweet boyfriend. Could the skirt pattern be a guy with a long white beard? I was trying to focus on it but it was hard. LOL Just a silly guess. ☮💜
You found so many great treasures! Enjoyed this video a lot. The last find was amazing!! Btw, I think the print on the skirt looks like an old man with a really long beard lounging on the ground. I think the "beak" is his long nose. I think there was also a,small mustache. Hope this helps.
Just found your channel love your post. Can’t believe you’re in cedar city so close. I wonder if you knew my Aunt Carol Marquardson?
The character on your skirt must be Rip Van Winkle, since, according to the story, he fell asleep for 20 years and woke up with a foot-long beard.
The pink dish you thought was an ashtray is a candy/trinket dish. I found one on ebay in red for $30.
I’m a new subscriber and catching up on all your videos. I just got done watching the one from 3 years ago where you were featuring the kitchen cart your husband refinished and you mentioned the Easter Lillies on the top shelf. Were those real? As you probably know, they are poisonous to cats. 🙀
Wow, those dishes! Yes! Boy, your boyfriend gains a lot of credit with that gift. Lol probably a whole years worth. Lol.
The skirt pattern looks like rip van winkle, asleep, long beard, legs out, up against a tree trunk. So happy you are doing videos again. Missed you Laci!
Beautiful haul of lovely things. You got such a bargain with the coloured glass. A swung finger vase for 25c! 😲
Love all the great finds. Your skirt looks like a man with a long beard and he’s lying in it with his legs up through it! That’s what I see.
Love the dishes and blue glass! Beautiful! I’m glad to see you so happy.😊
I have those primary color Pyrex bowls! Found them at an antique mall. My mother had them.
Congratulations!! On your dishes, what pieces are you missing?
I see a man on his back legs bent, and a very long white beard, and black hat . So vintage!
Love watching you again! Darling home!!!!
The guy on the skirt looks like Rip Van Winkle. He's laying down. I had one of those vintage cake decorating kits. It worked great and was easy to clean, but it started leaving black stuff on the decorations. Turns out that the inside walls of the tube were leaving black stuff on the icing when the disc travelled down them. I had to stop using it.
I think the print on the skirt is a guy, a beatnik. He's lounging in the
grass in his furry coat. What wonderful finds! So many pretty things.
I think your fabric skirt depicts Rip Van Winkle. The beard is because he slept for 100 years!
I too love the fifties, although wasn't born until 60. I think the skirt reminds me of a Spanish man lying in the grass with his full length fringed shawl. Perhaps a herder of some type.
I’ve been watching this channel since around the beginning of this decade. She’s got cool stuff.
The skirt is Rip Van Winkle...In case you don't know the story: Rip Van Winkle fell asleep u der a tree and slept like a hundred years or something and woke with super long white hair and beard.
I think your skirt is Rip Van Winkle, sound asleep covered in plant growth. I have an old picture book that has a similar illustration for him.
Fantastic! So excited for you 💖 OMG, the clothesline! My grandma had one just like that. I miss her so much 😢
I've seen those dishes around here in San Luis Obispo antique malls. I'll keep an eye out for you.
Wow - what great finds! So happy for you, especially your dream dishes!
I grew up with the Atomic dishes. I think my mom gave them to the Goodwill after I grew up and left home. 😢 Also, I just looked on eBay and there are a lot of pieces for sale!
What wonderful finds! I absolutely love going to garage sales and marketplace’s because you can find the best gems for not very much. Thank you for sharing 😊
Yes!! Garage sales are the best!!
The fellow on the skirt is Rip Van Winkle. He slept for 100 years (or thereabouts). Great story!
Ive just subscribed to yor channel, ive been catching up on past vlogs ,the house's you have are beautiful, love your style too❤❤❤
I love all the new vintage pieces you got--especially that beautiful set of starburst dishes at the end! It was like it was made for you!
So the skirt: first thought that went through my head was old man winter… I get definitive old man with a beard so long it covered his whole body when he takes a nap vibes. Maybe not old man winter exactly. But like an old man who fell asleep in the spring flowers or the fall hay or the evergreens… 😅
The novelty print skirt looks like Rip Van Winkle to me! Thanks for sharing!!
Lacy, I think your mystery skirt is intended to represent Rip Van Winkle.
Will you be using the dishes or only for display? That’s on my unicorn list too lol. So beautiful. My other fave is the candy dish set.
Print on skirt (gorgeous by the way) is a wolf in sheep's clothing. :-)
Green shirt ummm Rumpelstiltskin or the man who slept for 30 years maybe?
