I watched this movie in a Japanese theater in Shibuya when it came out and not a single person laughed once. It made me wonder if Japanese people either legitimately don't find it funny or if they restrain their laughter cause they don't want to make noise in the theater
No, it's because it's considered more rude to laugh or cheer inside the movie theaters, at least compared to the west. Since, you know, people are trying to watch the movie.

Japanese people laugh out loud all the time and have a great sense of humor. It's only 99 cents to rent it on Amazon so if you can I'd say just wait until you have a dollar to spare but if you can't do that then you could probably pirate it just by googling for it.

and Miles' snaps?? aside from the fact that him making stuff appear by snapping is really badass, it also could be a reference to mvk's snaps in the game, which... young Edgeworth's mannerisms being similar to mvk's has always been such a small but really emotional part that i really loved in the flashback case, as a symbol of how mvk was molding Miles to become like him instead of Gregory, so i love how they included that in the movie, whether on purpose or not. but i mostly love how cool it looks

The parrot scene is so funny to me. As someone with a bird myself, it's so hard to get them off your shoulders/back sometimes and get them back on the perch. They just latch onto you.
I think what’s so fucked up is that the director of this movie, Takashi Miike, also directed the movies Audition and Ichi The Killer which are EXTREMELY freaky and unsettling. He’s like, really well known for super graphic and violent shit in his flicks. And he also did the live action Ace Attorney movie.
