    Just wanted to say thanks for all the free content - people who complain about the audio are really missing out on some of the most game changing instruction out. I think this is the missing link in my swing which contributes to my right foot/heel spinning out rather then rolling in. Gotta revisit and get to work on all this.

    In case there are any doubting Thomases......ON THE PLANE to meet friends for a golf trip over 6 days, I watched Part 1 of this series followed by Part 2 and now on plane home, watching what I consider to be Part 3. I am 66, playing for 25 years and I have NEVER hit my irons as well, SIMPLY by listening to MIke and trying to simulate what was described in Stopping the Slide Parts 1-2. True compression and amazing accuracy. With driver more variability with my greatest drives ever, but as week went on more and more mishits. But that is with NO prior practice and NO drill work as described here. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL GOLFERS. I will need to address my driver, my thinking is that somehow my swing-path or swing direction became altered with the surfing move because my upper body was doing something funky and I was possibly fatigued. I was getting alot of pulls and pull pop ups. But I am a complete true believer. I mean how many 66 year olds are hitting 6 irons 180!!! Any comments on the pulls and pull popups gents. Hope to see you soon again.

    Good stuff guys! I’m working on similar step drill but it’s for getting fully to my left side as I have tendency to contact ball too cleanly. This really helps me take a much better divot.

    Great video guys, and thank you for uploading such a vast array of free content, much appreciated! How do you then transfer this to the normal golf swing? When should I start 'falling'. I mean more in terms of a feeling. I saw video one and two so I understand technically what's happening when.

    I noticed that the pressure plate shows the "step" is toward the second baseman as opposed to second base (e.g. +or- 30degrees right of target line). Would it help rotate hips more open if the "step" was more toward the target line (or even left of that)? Thanks for your great work.

      ron greco just push with your left foot against the target. That makes the club head go faster and up. You’d be amazed how little effort you need.

    Mike, Shaun, great drill. I was messing around with it, and found on a smooth floor without a shoe on the lead foot (but wearing socks) I found a very small slide, not step, forward of my lead foot simulated a much more subtle (and realistic) weight shift than a lift-and-step as demonstrated by Shaun. No ball striking or full swing, just as a drill to feel or initiate the “pressure-forward” move. And it was then easier to take that feel of FOOT slide (not hip slide obviously) into a swing where your lead foot is securely anchored in a shoe on turf. What are your thoughts on this variation? You could even say it’s a skate-forward of the lead foot. Or am I missing something?

    I queried about Internal rotation of the femurs and got a No reply. (1st video in this series) The drill that Shaun is demonstrating is a stride that causes a purchase ahead of where the Left Foot started. If you have an intention of maintaining Internal rotation in the Left Femur the Unweighted Left Heel will land/purchase ahead of where it started. When Weighted the Pressure will flow up the leg into the Pelvis and give you the Kinematic Sequence your looking for. This is all good stuff, and unlocking the potential we all have. IMO Thanks..

    Hope this doesn’t sound too crazy. I feel this move to the left when I make a modified “Happy Gilmore” move: my shoulders are still coiled and my back to the target with a lot of perceived weight on my left as I have shuffle to the target. Is that a feel that sounds right to you?

  • @rrisky18

    I have a tendency to stop my hips when I come in contact with the ball and then continue after I hit the ball it’s usually worse with my driver just because the setup with the driver I have my hip sticking out to the left a little so the really throw me off more getting my hips to turn, Plus I hv no issues with throwing a ball or hitting a baseball to get my hips to turn properly, it’s just that dang golf swing I’m having problems with, I’m about a 14 handicap. Thank you Dennis

    Eye opening to see you start pressuring the lead foot at around left arm parallel - when trying to do it myself the club immediately follows and doesn't let me complete the backswing.
    Should I consciously keep the club going back with my upper body rotation against the sensation of falling with the lower body?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  6 лет назад

      No, that is completing the backswing. Golfers often think "completing the backswing" means swinging back to the end of their range of motion. The backswing should be determined by what this change of direction. It will be shorter than a normal swing doing this drill because of the step.

  • @matthewsimone92
    @matthewsimone92 6 лет назад +1

    Should you start at setup with your front foot a little closer to the mid-line so that when you step your foot would be in it's typical position for a regular swing? I've seen variations of this drill where the front foot almost kisses the back foot.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  6 лет назад +2

      We've tried and tested all the variations of this drill you could imagine... for what we're trying to accomplish with it, this video is how we get the best results. A normal stance that gets a little wider is preferable because it requires you to get more forward while from the shift. The narrower start tended to allow the golfer to balance themselves more over the rear foot, something we absolutely don't want to encourage with this drill.

  • @scottclements694
    @scottclements694 6 лет назад

    Would you prefer to have more weight on the heel of the lead foot at impact as compared to the even distribution show on the force plate screen? Curious what the gears pane of glass shows your tush line is doing in the video shown. I am trying to improve my rotation and lateral bend at impact and find if I don't get my weight to my left heal at impact, video shows that I early extend, rotate less and lose lateral bend. All potentially leading to a rolling release vs a holding release. I also want to increase speed to get more distance but am trying to get the stable release pattern instead of a flip first. In your opinion should I be doing this drill?

  • @stuartp1374

    I suffer with terrible back pain after a round of golf. And though my head barely moves in any direction before impact my hip has slid at least 5 inches outside my forward foot by impact with an iron shot .. in your guys vast experience would this be the culprit for the back issue and have you come across others with the same problem?

    What is the firing sequence in starting the downswing. Is it the left knee starting to move first or is it the Feeling of sitting down and then firing the left hip as fast and hard as you want to?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  6 лет назад +2

      Nothing really fires hard to start it, that's usually bad news. Think instead of when things start to transition. The parts closest to the ground start first and they start before the club changes direction. But it subtle and gradual, not sudden and hard. Does that help?

      Not surprising. When I saw him doing it, it was a bit more exaggerated than the version we use, but it's forcing the same principle. We've had on of our amateur clients shoot a career low 67 last summer doing on every shot.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  6 лет назад +3

      Great question, Eric. We typically have a player do 3 of the steps, then 1 normal swing (trying to feel the step). Have them do a bunch of those sets, then drop down to a 2 to 1 scenario, then to a 1 to 1 scenario. The goal being the normal swing feeling just like the step. Also we want the step to get smaller and smaller. We don't really like just going out and hitting a ton of balls just doing this drill. It's important to start to bleed it in with normal swings.

  • @SD-xi8zk

    Do I still need to turn my hips, or will this drill take care of that naturally? As turning my hips is my 1st move from the top. I have a big slide with my right side collapsing, causing me to bottom out behind the ball.

      Thats interesting. Stance width and possibly ball placement, would you say are key factors in allowing the hips to get more open at impact? I get that an early release kills rotation.
