    Yes you would. At work I draw full bitmap frame by frame animation, so I make the clean line animation in photoshop and another guy assembles all animations together in After Effects. Some effects are also made in after effects, for instance, in one video we made the same effect used in Jazza's intro (that one where it seems as it's drawing the character), but instead of having to erase lines frame by frame like in flash, we use masks to hide the line. Way simpler.

    I never said you can't use, I said you wouldn't. Flash is a tool made to create animations easily, it's used for cartoon style, which doesn't require much brush control. The problem with Flash is that it doesn't save you stroke, but save the path of your stroke and uses math to recreate in vector, which never comes out perfectly the way we draw. I have never seen a flash animation with such clean lines as animes.

    it is pretty good. There are several hilarious series using after effects

  • @Hyzalker
    @Hyzalker 11 лет назад

    I wasn't saying that the animator would use after effects, if you animate in paper you don't even need to use software, since usually another person would do the color. But in the complete animation, it's perfectly fine to use AE.
    I don't have that much experience in animation. I work as a freelancer, and right now I'm working with a small producer making animated commercials for a government agency here in Brazil. But my real expertise is in digital illustration.

    I will start my career as animator after this year (began march last year to animate framebyframe look my channel vids) Im learning very much of your tutorials. The onyl thing thats scares my is that our works is almost 100%selfmade so as an animator or artist u must be really in to this by 100% .Atm it seem so stressfully for me I dont know. I denied many request(like 10) because I think im not ready and dont know my "prize"
    Just want to say thank you ^^
    P.S.: Looking for an easier and faster way to avoid framebyframe animation(what took the most time)

    Thankyou for helping me animate!! I've been animating for a while now and I can do some moments, mouth, easy, hair, easy, eyes, easy, I've done a cat running animation and a few more. But big body animations really gets me. Sometimes I always have to look in the mirror at my reflection and do that action which is embarrassing whenever my mum walks in XD And I have to go to school and try not to get carried away with animating and yeah. So thanks for the help! You're awesome at animating! :D

    My God that was just what I said up there! I said that Flash's vector drawing can't compare to Disney's quality, it was simple, you made it difficult.
    And you can perfectly match the quality with Photoshop and After Effects, these two ARE advanced software. And I never said that they didn't use lots of people!

  • @InuManiac906
    @InuManiac906 11 лет назад

    Thanks again Jazza

  • @Hyzalker
    @Hyzalker 11 лет назад

    Because flash can do everything the animator needs. It's very practical to setup everything and to animate. The problem with flash is that the brush is terrible to make smooth lines because it works with vector. You can see that there's no flash animation that has disney's quality. Now if you want bitmap animation, After Effects is a good choice. But it can only assemble everything together, you still would have to draw on another program or paper.

    I was talking about both. And Disney has the same process, the animation is all made traditionally on paper, then scanned. Almost in all ways it's the same, later on they started using 3D like in treasure planet, but the same happened with japanese animation.
    Let's do this, try to find a Disney making of where there's someone using Flash to animate, not the rough sketches, the final line that is what Flash's vector Drawing can't do well.
    And yes, my primary language is portuguese.

    I'm not talking about difficulty or time, I know a disney movie takes a lot of people and years to be done. Yes, I know that Flash is better for vector, it was built based on that. What I'm saying is that you won't get that quality with vector. You didn't say it was an opinion, you said that one wouldn't use AE, but take Brother Bear for instance, all that aurora and particle effects can be made with After Effects.

    Actually a lot of small companies use After Effects for flat 2D animation and compositing 3D objects. It's a lot cheaper than using Maya and the like and requires a lot less training. A lot of companies practically disregard Flash and ToonBoom as an animation tool as there's barely any demand for 2D hand-drawn work anymore (However I love them and can't find a fucking job anywhere)

      Thore Elbek it looks to me like YES. Could have chosen any of the body parts layer, i guess he is just switching from rigged character animation to frame by frame animation methods for this particular take. in any point he can go back to the fully rigged character by adding new keyframes in the parts layers.

    Yes, but you left out about a thousand people and fifty steps(actors, tweeners, cel painters, photographers, digitizers). Thats why there is no purpose comparing the two. Final drawings at Disney are now done with vector based Meander (thats the American Express Black Card I was talking about). You see, solo animation is inherently a different animal. And Disney is a different animal which has evolved into something else. Its still traditional, but blended with vector.

      Yeah all movie clips do that if you change it to a graphic you will but it needs that number of frames on the main timeline
