  • It can be challenging to become familiar with the process of creating animated content. In terms of 2D animation programs and techniques, Moho and Adobe Animate CC both have a lot to offer!
    In this video, I will be discussing the best software for working with animations - Moho vs Adobe Animate, so you can determine which better suits your goals or way of working.

    Is it possible to work on something on Moho and then transfer it to animate or vice versa. It would be nice to take advantage of both programs strengths when working on an animation

  • @IndianCitizen04
    @IndianCitizen04 2 года назад +73

    It would super helpful for everyone if Moho accepts vector based graphics from Illustrator, Affinity designer or Inkscape. Or support Flash based vector graphics from animate CC. I worked both in Animate CC and Moho. Character creation far more easy with your imagination in Animate CC with extra bonus of lip syncing. But Moho is exceptionally fast in workflow with rigging and animation. You could able to make a piece of work in Moho in no time. Incredible software but character creation is poor.

      Thank you for the feedback! We totally agree on that point, our team of 2D artists adopted many software throughout their career, and when it comes to Moho, we think that it's unparalleled in terms of character rigging and puppet animation (the Bone System and the timeline features are insane), but the drawing tools lag behind compared to other software like the Adobe Suite (Character Animator for example)

      Why not use both. Use Moho rigging with simple animations to get your layout and then use CC to fine tune it?

    Moho is King in my opinion. BUT,there are a few things the development team needs to take care of, hopefully they do. The ownership switched from Micro Smith back to the original creators, Lost Marble. If I was a billionaire I would donate money to the Moho cause lol

    I think Moho is the better option especially if you want something that is cost effective. Not taking anything away from Adobe but in terms of the software paying for itself, Moho is the better choice. I've been using Moho for the past 10 years and they just came out with their newest version (Moho 14).

    I really want to animate, but I have a job that pays so little, and I have a strong passion for animation.
    I was thinking of buying the full Adobe suite, but it is going subscription based around the time I graduated high-school and getting my first job made trying to learn animation via computer and building my portfolio for a career nearly impossible.
    I am glad to find 1-time purchase programs to help me get a kick out of my interest.

      @@zenyfilmsrambo Depends. They use very different workflows to produce their animation. Animate can generate HTML5 animations, as will as make them interactive. You learn to work with symbols, sprite sheets, and such -- it's very web oriented, but you can also produce animations for RUclips, Vimeo, broadcasting. There are drawing tools in Animate, but it also integrates really well with Adobe Illustrator because it's part of the suite of applications that are meant to work together well -- and most of the time they do. But, in the end, Animate will cost you much more than Moho (if you're using it legally), as it is subscription based), so there's that. It also has a very good lip syncing feature.
      Moho can generate gifs for the web, but its primary job is making cartoons. If you're an Illustrator user, like myself, you will find the Moho drawing tools confusing and unintuitive at first. Force yourself to do the tutorials and you'll be less frustrated. Moho Pro's bone system is a lot better than Animate's (some may disagree), and the smart bone feature, which allows you to create controllers for various actions such as eye blinks, switch layers, and correcting distortions in things like bending limbs is great. Another feature in Moho Pro is the ability to animate switching the position of layers, like moving an arm layer behind the body layer so a character can put his hands behind his back. I strongly advise anyone who asks to get a free trial, if available, on any program they are thinking of using to get the feel of it. I prefer working in Moho as opposed to Animate, but that doesn't mean I don't find myself swearing at the computer scree from time to time, nor does it mean it's the best choice for everyone.
      Full disclosure; I don't use Animate any more, and I use Moho rarely. I use After Effects paired with some plugins that make animating characters easier. But AF has it's issues as well, I wouldn't outright recommend it as the best way to go for anyone. Only you can decide what you can afford, and from there, decide what works for what you want to create. Don't forget to check out the free open-source options out there like Blender (it does 2D as well as 3D) OpenToonz (best for frame by frame), and Synfig.
