After our visit to Cherokee we loaded up the van and traveled to Waynesville N.C. for dinner at Maggie's Galley Seafood Restaurant.

Mike is such a patient shopper. My hubby would be sighing and pacing back and forth, or in the car sending me texts "are you ok"? LOL Your trip through Cherokee brought back so many memories. I have photos of me with the Indian Chief when I was about 7. Lovely place to visit.

We love this area so much! We love Joeys Pancakes in Maggie Valley and just love driving around that area and visiting the waterfalls!
I remember getting my picture with that Indian Chief back in the early 70s. I remember his name being Chief Joseph. I think I still have the picture. Brings back good memories.

Cherokee and Bryson City are my favorite towns in Southern Appalacians.
I remember camping in Gatlinburg and driving over to Cherokee in the 1960s. I remember a picture of me and my sisters standing with the Indian Chief. There was a souvenir shop there and that was about all that was there. We went back when I was older and we went to the play, “Unto These Hills.” It was very touching. Thanks for the memories.😊

The joy of Puppyhood. When you are a puppy things just happen, that's puppy life. I remember our last Shepherd, she was about 10 weeks and was up on the bed with me. She was being trained to go potty outside but she thought when ya have to go., go. With time and patience she was training us. Loved the video and happy you were able to find some things for yourself. Lunch seemed ok. Hey Mike, you should have tried the Frog Legs. :) Drive safe, love to all. Always.

The joy of having a puppy. They do have accidents. I have a Doberman and his first year we thought we'd never get him trained. It all finally clicked for him and he's been the best dog ever. He will be 11 in September. Being a furbaby parent, you learn to have alot of patience. They are worth it in the joy and love they give back to you. Hopefully the sun will be shining on your next adventure. Stay safe and God bless you both & Winston🥰

Love the new name at the Cherokee Museum -- "of the People" -- used to be "Indian"...Great plan to go to Waynesville to eat. -- many tribal restaurants have had staffing issues and that naturally means problems in service and quality (from a local - who keeps trying) - the exceptions are Hispanic and Asian restaurants at Food Lion Plaza.

Just a friendly FYI from a fellow dog-lover, rescuer and protector, re: things I've learned from traveling with my dogs....
Never leave your pet in your vehicle without it being parked just outside the door of resturant and preferably parked outside the windows, so that you can see your vehicle at all times. Especially bad to be parked on farside of parking lot and with the one side being blocked from view and easy to break into without being seen and stealing the most precious thing your "ba y" and getting long gone before you come out and even know it was broken into! We were in Cherokee 21 years ago and caught the Righteous Brothers Concert at the Cherokee Casino for our 25Th anniversary. My wife got her picture taken next to that Chief since she is a small part Cherokee.

We hope to return up this way later this year..on a sad note, our sweet dog Dixie crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. She would have been 16 in July. We are going to miss her so much. But, we will adopt another puppy in the future…maybe by end of this year..Time will tell.

Where is your home base? If you were to move it to a different location, where would it be? We live in Tampa, FL and looking for a second place. We have been visiting the areas of Hendersonville, Asheville, Brevard, Sylva, Gatlinburg and Boone. A place to enjoy surroundings within an hour drive as well as good grocery stores, churches, hospitals, etc. Low crime, nice folks! Appreciate your insight. Thank you.
