25 BHP Yamaha R15 V3? What I Bought From Indonesia And Thailand

- Опубликовано: 2 июл 2024
- When I bought the Yamaha R15 V3 last year, the goal was simple - ride the bike on the race track and improve my riding skills. It seemed like a good starting point for a track novice like me. But a couple of rides on the road, and I realised this bike would make a precise track tool with just small upgrades. The first were the tyres and then the brakes.
And now, I am looking for engine upgrades. I already have a full system Daytona exhaust from Yamaha, which increases the acceleration but - due to low back pressure - decreases the top end.
The bike was begging for an ECU reflash, but Yamaha doesn’t provide one.
So, what now?
After a lot of research, I decided to buy an ECU from Indonesia. It is from a company called BRT Juken. The ECU can raise the revs from the current 11,000 RPM to about 16,000 RPM, but to not blow up the engine, I will stick to about 13,500 RPM max.
To support the extra revs, I have also bought a new camshaft - again BRT - and the people who sold me were kind enough to install a map on the ECU which is calibrated to this new camshaft.
Along with the camshaft, I had to buy new valve springs, since the valves will be doing some heavy lifting; a racing coil for better combustion and a tuning cable for the ECU in case I want to fine tune it myself.
The damage? About Rs 32,000. I have explained the break-up in the video.
Where to buy them from, you ask? Well, here’s the link to the Instagram page of IWS Motor Sport: / iwsmotorsport (You will need to create a PayPal account to transfer money)
But that’s not all. In September 2018, I visited Thailand in my quest to find upside down front forks and performance parts for the R15 V3. I got cheated, massively. I’m sure you wouldn’t be interested in the details and so, I’ll spare them.
I did manage to get myself a performance air filter, a bigger fuel injector and some cosmetic parts which I have discussed in the video, so not repeating the details here.
Facebook page to buy them (Beware, this guy misled me): / race99shop
I will install these parts on my bike some time next week and will try to shoot a video of the installation process. I will also try to do a dyno run. I am hoping all these add-ons will help me gain about 4-odd horse power, which should take this bike to about 23 BHP at the crank. Now, is that 25 BHP like I wrote in the title of the video? Heck, no. But even 23 BHP from a bike that makes 19 is a lot. That’s a 20 per cent gain.
Some might say I could have just bought a bigger bike. A KTM RC390 perhaps. While that would have been the practical thing to do, it just wouldn’t have been as satisfying as building my bike, my way.
Even if this engine blows up, I will have a cool story to tell. The story of my bike and how I tried to up the game.
If you agree or disagree with my thoughts, leave me a comment below and hopefully we can have a chat over it.
You can reach out to me on Instagram, which is updated frequently (not like my RUclips): / abhinavbhatt19
There are some other cool videos on the R15 V3 on my channel. If you have read this far, might I suggest you check them out as well.
Thank you for giving me your valuable time. I appreciate it immensely.
I hope you have a good day. Авто/Мото
Hard to find such a genuine youtuber like you,no clickbait no no nonsense.Keep up the good work man
Thank you, Anant. Yeah, I want to be as transparent as I can be. This is my passion and I just am sharing my journey. This is not for money, fame or anything else.
@@abhinavbhatt this is why I follow you brother..and I'm sure one day I'll mod my CBR 150 with your help...even though I'm from Bangladesh...Your so cool brother carry on.
Definitely. All the best. Wish I visit Dhaka some day.
True 😇
@@abhinavbhatt sir I do not want to do so much mods in my v3 like u. But shall i just change the air filter and ecu remap stage 1???10 to 15% increase in power???
One of the richest Yamaha R15 buyers in the country 😂🙌💯
Hahahhaha. Definitely not.
@@abhinavbhatt 😂👍

Abhinav Bhatt Simplicity rocks,I wish u more achieve in ur life.
Thanks, brother
I can't say a word im speechless i mean how someone could spent that much money on a 155cc bike especially in India and getting the parts exported from another country is a different story altogether
so hatsoff to that and i hope your channel will grow in future cause you make quality videos 👌👌
Thank you, Syed. This is not about a 155cc bike or money. This has now turned into a learning process for me. No matter the outcome, I will emerge a wiser man. Cheers
@@abhinavbhatt That was the reply i was expecting from you.
You truly are different from other cliche RUclipsrs.
Always there for your support brother 👍👍
This is what we need in India, here every one runs for bigger cc but almost never thinks about tuning. Maybe this R15 tuning videos will change few minds.👍
Thanks brother.
Let's hope so man. This series will either get people hooked to it, or put them off completely seeing a blown engine. Haha. I might be going in for a big bore kit and a forged piston too. Waiting to see what kind of results these mods give first.
Have been checking your channel ! Happy you’re back! Waiting for new videos💙
Thanks, Ashik. Hopefully, I will be slightly regular now.
Woo... Uh r going to take v3 to next level... Waiting fr ur next video.
Man first time literally first time, saw someone doing sensible job, i dont know why ur video was in my recommendation list, great i found you man, u are so soft n humble spoken
I own a Discover 150 and as most people dont have any money to buy any bigger bike, i am very big MOTOGP fan watching it since 2003 when no one knew about motogp in india
I have not subscribed to any motorsport(except motogp channel) or any vlogging channel untill , but i did it to you
U earned my respect man, i hope i will learn n know more things from ur channel
Thank you, bud. I am an avid motorsport fan too and have raced a bit myself, although on four wheels instead of two. I hope I can keep the informative content coming that doesn't disappoint. Cheers
I absolutely respect your passion, can't wait to see how it turns out!

Good video as usual!!
Hehe. Thanks, bro :)
Do the changes fast man. Want to see the performance .good luck dude you're doing nice.

Cool & fun project indeed. Love your work, reminds me of Gran Turismo Game (Installing a new part, checking the performance on the race track & fine tuning). It was fun on play station, I can only imagine how much you're loving the project.
Thank you for sharing the experiences. Keep up the good work.
I love Gran Turismo. I was one of the fastest Gran Turismo racers in India at one point of time. In fact, I even won Nissan GT Academy in 2014 and represented India in the UK. Had built a simulator in my living room. The video should be on my channel somewhere.
Abhinav Bhatt woah! Didn’t know you were a gamer too. It’s always fun to interact with people with similar interests. Will check your video.
I was a PC Gamer myself, NFS Most Wanted was my poison back in the day to win at college events. I wanted a race simulator so bad, but had to make do with a racing wheel instead. Anyway, found such fun in gokarting. 😊
@@narenderreddyn oh yeah. Love gokarting too.
Oooof the set up looks so good
Surely excited for this video 🔥 this video will be a come back for you after 4months its gonna be a bomb!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

You are a passionate biker 👍👍👍
Haha. Thanks, Vishal. Cheers
Waiting for the ride vlog after the mods. Probably on my bike's first birthday I'll buy some of those.
Hopefully, all of this actually works. There are no guarantees.
Absolute Gold bro! The video, the bike, everything talks class. Good going!
Thank you, Deepak.
Really good video man. love tinkering around with vehicles but found it really hard to get good content and the required parts, you have solved the problem and made up my mind to buy an r15 as good tuner bike.
Yeah. It is a good base to work upon.
Cant wait for this video.. The suspense is killing me.
Few more hours.
SIR you speaked so nicely about this bike that i could hear this all day long. And sir best of luck for your project.
Thank you, Samik. Your feedback is very encouraging :)
Good to see you back on RUclips 😊🤗 Eagerly waiting for the mods to get installed and see the performance.

Thanks Krish. Believe me, I spoke for 35 minutes and then cut it down to half. So much more I had just junk since it got very long.
India's fastest as well as highly modified R15 v3 😍
Hopefully.
If it is made into the fastest it can be, it won't remain road- legal 😛
The fastest is the gsxr 150 which doesn't exist in india

Good to see you back bro,
Waiting for the dyno,
Thought you would have installed the usd, learnt few things about it myself, can understand you.
Keep up the good work, waiting for more.
Thanks, Ranjan. Don't even get me started on the upside down front forks. I specially went to Thailand to get them. And the guy there cheated me. So much money, time and effort down the drain.
@@abhinavbhatt what were the ones you posted on Insta way back, thought you already bought those here.
No. Those were photos of the ones I was to pick up in Thailand.
I have also come across few R15 in Thailand with big aftermarket front rotors kit with distance mounted between the fork and caliper.... it will add a charm to the aesthetics of your bike... Cheers👍
Yes, we are putting a 300 mm front rotor and a four-piston caliper.
Finally a new vlog 😍 loved it bro . keep posting ❤️
Thanks man.
What you're about to do is sheer patience bruv!
Hats off to your project 👍
Waiting for the after installation video.
Love from Nagaland.
Thank you, brother. Yes, it has tested my patience a bit since my parts were stuck in customs for nearly three months and even though I was willing to spend the money, part availability became a major headache. Anyway, this project is finally rolling and should reach its conclusion soon.
@@abhinavbhatt all the best

Very helpful video indeed. I ride Suzuki GSX R 150 in Bangladesh and planning to do these mods.

It's really pleasant to see a passionate track junkie with huge respect for motorcycles, my warm regards! I highly recommend you to look for performance or racing clutch plates to cope up with the power bump and a 200cc injector as well as high pressure fuel pump, as you have a standalone ECU, you can get good amount of power increase through it! Kindly tune the bike on the dyno! Keep revving :)
Yes, sir. Spot on. Will be looking into all of this.
Great to see a genuine Indian guy on youtube :)
Appreciate your stress on learning on a smaller bike before trying things on big bike. We have enough youtubers who think going fast in a straight line on a big bike is all there is to biking !
Cheers ! Keep the rubber side down :D
Thanks buddy. Will soon start work on the suspension too. That matters to me a lot more than engine work.
Loved how you kept it inside your house
Love you man
✌
Waited a lot of days for ur videos.. finally it comes..
After all the modification this will be the fastest R15 V3 of India..
Let's hope so, Suvendu.
It's been so so long.
And here we go again.. two weeks..
Good luck on the project.
Going by my track record, even two weeks is ambitious. I might put out a video of my Interceptor 650 in the meanwhile though.
love ur videos and eagerly waiting for new content
Give me a couple of weeks for a new video.
Love you bro and you're vids
Thank you, bro.
Very informative and put together in a very classy manner...awesome work! What is the 0 to 100 timing after putting in the Daytona exhaust?
With just the Daytona and nothing else it hits 100 in about 10 or slightly under. I'm a heavy guy so that should be factored in. 88 kg with riding gear.
Love from west Bengal
I love your work on your v3
May god bring success to what are you looking for

dude your the best at making so detailed videos ,like these and yes if all these mods take the top end to like 160_165 kmph or even more that's totally worth it, and yes i haven't forgot about the interceptor video too.
Aryan, I think instead of the top speed, the big gains will be seen in acceleration. I am expecting about 165-170 on the speedo, which would be about 145-150 true top speed. I'll work on the Interceptor video soon.
@@abhinavbhatt sure dude.
I will definitely sure mods k baad ye bike 170+ jayegi or top ten end me may be 175 tk
