How I'm Building A 183cc, 25 BHP Yamaha R15 V3 With Upside Down Forks (USD Forks) In India

“Where’s the R15? What happened to the R15V3? R15 V3 ka video kab aayega?”
It’s been a year since I last made a video on my Yamaha R15 V3 that I was trying to build to ride around my local race track. And this entire year, you guys have not let me forget that motorcycle’s build every time I posted anything on RUclips or on my Instagram.
So, it is time to answer the question: What exactly did happen to my Yamaha R15 build and why did I abandon the project?
It all started from a faulty fuel injector. I had got a bigger fuel injector for this bike from Thailand when I had visited the country in September 2018. While building up the bike, this very fuel injector started leaking and became unusable. I tried switching back to the stock fuel injector, but the bike just did not have any kick left after that. Such was the difference.
I thought I would collate all parts in one go this time - I really wanted upside down forks for my motorcycle, just like the ones from the international version, along with a bit more power - which would come in the form of a big bore kit and a reworked head.
I already had an aftermarket ECU, full system exhaust, racing coil, racing cam, aftermarket filter and the likes.
And so, I started looking at the Indonesian market for parts.
Thankfully, a former motorcycle racer from Indonesia, Cakra Krishnap, commented on one of my R15 videos and we got talking from there. He helped me buy all the parts in Indonesia and kept them securely at his home for a year. I had promised him I would come and take back the parts within three weeks (This conversation took place in February 2019!)
I couldn’t.
My work would not allow me to plan my travel and it took me a full year to go meet my friend and carry the parts back.
I did not want to get the parts shipped as there was a very likely chance they would get stuck in customs (happened the last time when I ordered the ECU, racing cam etc).
Anyway, long story short, I have the parts with me now and that is what matters.
Here’s what I got this time from Indonesia and how you can buy them:
37mm Upside Down Forks from the international version: I bought a used set (were taken off a new bike) and sold on an ecommerce website in Indonesia. Here are some others that you can buy: www.bukalapak....
Then I got a Bintang Racing Team (BRT) 63 mm big bore kit, a 180 and 200cc fuel injector, a super head (ported and polished) with bigger valves. Buy here: www.bintangrac...
My friend also helped me make a custom 34 mm throttle body with a velocity stack and a custom intake to fit on the R15 since BRT does not make it. You can follow this page for details: / fbalankolshopracing
My friend Cakra also gifted me a WRX slip on exhaust that should help me in getting a decent top speed. I was earlier running a short end can that makes the acceleration better, but loses out on top end due to the restricted back pressure. Link for the WRX exhaust: / wrxexhaust
Now, all that remains is to put this build together. BRT has supplied me a base map to be used with the bigger piston and the head, but it does not factor in the new throttle body.

@@abhinavbhatt similar to your r15 which is going to be the one of best motorcycle built I want my rr to be one of the best built bike just like your r15 with more power and stable performance. If I say in simple way I want my rr to be called it's one in india because no one do mods on rr if we see in performance department and I am gonna do that and would make the fastest and the best 300cc beast. Anmd where I am lacking is in help I don't know anyone who would help me in building my dream untill I found you. And here I need your help.
@@iamjkjay Try getting in touch with someone from the TVS Racing Team once. They have done up RR310s for racing. See if you can get that tune somehow. I'll try to think what can be done to the bike too.

You can order the mudguard and other stuffs from Bangladesh.. I own a Indonesian v3 and parts are cheaper and she shipment cost will reduce..

Hey man plz help..I am planning to buy R15 V3 bs6,but its top speed is only around 130kph and I am very disappointed...does this top speed figure increase after 3 service or its same....or should I go for bs4 model..plz help me man

This bike is insane bro. I feel your spirit. And we have similar ideology.
I (used to) also own a 2014 CBR250R modified it with the followng (major upgrade only, with few race-beneficial minor mods)
305cc TPR Racing big bore with large injectors
Arashi Disc rotor Front
GP exhaust system
Undertail custom mods.
CNC Aluminium rearsets.
Weight savings of 7Kgs
Allegedly on paper this made around 31HPs
I had planned to upgrade to
FI CON2 fuel controller
Takegawa Sports cam
(with these it was supposed to reach 38HP)
but I never got the chance as I had sold it recently (last month) as the cost of maintenance was getting astronomically high. (milage was down from 30kmpl to 13.3kmpl highway)
I had never uploaded my bike to youtube as it was just a hobby of mine.
And I regret not doing that. I should have posted more photos of it.
However I had uploaded a few photos in social media if you are curious. (Also I had just bought a CBR600RR which I will make post of it soon maybe if I have time.)

just a thought as am not a specialist here, if anyone see this message can help me out? would it made more sense to go for other upside down forks ie one from the KTM or Honda Hornet 2.0 ? and with few alterations get it done ? I am currently thinking of replacing the front forks of new Suzuki Gixxer SF250, So just a thought.
Most awaited video since last year. TBH I was expecting tuning with the stock engine, that will be more fun to watch and seeing that how much a 155cc engine can go.
That would be fun too. But I just skipped that step completely. Hehe
Well I would like to see USD fork in R15. Yamaha have kept Indian Bike markets away from their master pieces like r25 and 2019 r3.

Yes, there is tons of engine performance kit for this type of Yamaha engine on Indonesia... Even the manufacturer that mention had programmable ecu and stroke up kit crankshft...

No idea, man. You can't really put this in competition with anything else in the market. It is a custom built project. Will never seem rational from the price perspective.

Since you own two mid 600cc motorcycles and one with 900cc, there shall be some reason as to why you should consider spending so much on a 150cc bike. Is getting yourself ready for the track using the v3 the sole purpose or is there some other reason? If yes, then why exactly the v3 and not something else like an Apache RR310?

Hello sir, I follow your channel from the very beginning and I should say wat ever you've done here is superbly awesome. Being a motorcycle enthusiast I've a lil' suggestion for you. It would be nice to see Spending money on some classic/vintage machines and it's restoration.Bringing a dead machine to the modern world is something very special and satisfying. Not everyone willing to do so.. but the ultimate result or hardwork behind the restoration will give you the sheer pleasure while u riding it... Keep up the good work sirji.. peace✌️
I would love to do that but I just don't have the time. Realistically, I don't see myself being able to take the time out for a restoration build.

I have the same racing single seat (backseat cowl), ordered it from Indonesia which costed me around 8600₹ shipping+cost. The shipping was quite expensive.
This is a replica of it. I got it from Bangladesh for Rs 2000.

Can plz suggest how get rid of interceptor front portion noise and rear noise. This is from day 1 I got it and when visited service center they said it is bec of floating disc plate. But now I have jammed the disc and still noise it coming from t bar. And rear I am not yet able to understand from where it's coming. Front sound is like tak tak on bad patches and rear it feels like something is settling up and down.
Not sure what the remedy is. Sorry.

hello ...i hav an R15v3 too and i wanted to ask...the nose on the motorcycle is a faux nose...unlike the rest of R series....can u fiidle with the nose so it sucks in air and directly pushes it onto radiator...i think a small chamber pipe right from the nose will do....maybe make a venturi out of the nose to really soup up the engine....i don't know....theoretically it should be beneficial for cooling the engine....gr8 job with the motorcycle by the way.....and don't forget the back step kit which raises the height of your foot pegs to increase lean angle....Maybe someday we will hav a motorcycle par charcha......God Bless
