Yup - it kinda torpedoed Willis' career for a while - which is a shame, because the next movie he stared in after this wasn't too bad - but absolutely nobody went to see it. (The Last Boy Scout, if anyone cares)..
As soon as I saw the Title: HUDSON HAWK I gasped! Did not expect ANYONE to find & review this marvelous comedy crime heist with so many crazy characters! I bought the DVD as soon as it was available when it FIRST CAME OUT way back then! I sure wish I could get ANY of the OUT-TAKES & BLOOPERS to this film! The amount of crap I've caught for liking this movie since I first saw it in the theater with some friends is immeasurable. I still stand by my original impression - love this movie as well!
I love this movie! I saw it once as a kid, but when I was a teenager it would play on Dinner and A Movie on TBS. That's where I fell in love with it. When I got my first job at Blockbuster in 2001, I special ordered the DVD. Cut to 2007 when the special edition dvd came out and an annual tradition was born. It was the night before Thanksgiving and I put this on. My Mom came home from work with two sweet potato pies. One was to take to Thanksgiving and one was for us. As I sat to watch the special edition, she gave me a slice of sweet potato pie to watch during the movie. I enjoyed both so much that I repeated it the next year. Mom got a kick out of that. Year after year I'd watch Hudson Hawk and have a slice of sweet potato pie the night before thanksgiving. I even started posting it online. It got to a point where friends would say the holidays don't officially start until they see the post. Mom passed away unexpectedly in May of 2022. It was tough. And the following November I almost didn't do the annual tradition. But it always put a smile on Mom's face when I did, so I've kept the tradition alive. I know it's a silly movie, but god help me I enjoy it. I even have the poster next to my Die Hard poster in my apartment. But I also hold onto this because it's a great memory of my mom, who I miss every day. Thank you guys for doing this movie!
see, goes back to whether you saw moonlighting or not as to whether he's a comedian trying to be serious, or serious trying to be funny. Before we are introduced to Bruce, you know what kind of movie it is going to be; between the voice over and the Mona lisa.....
I'm quite fond of this pet project of Mr. Willis and his associates, and I think the world is a better place for it. Part action caper movie, part secret agent movie, part screwball comedy, part cartoon - with a fair infusion of Monty Python sensibility and a cool score by Michael Kamen to boot. (Oh, and the first robbery sequence is structured particularly well.) Truly an _opus sui generis._ 😎
Oh, hell yeah! Hudson Hawk catches a lot of hate from some crowds, but I always loved it so much as a teen. I must have watched it 9 or 10 times. I even figured out it took me exactly 1 American Pie to drive from my home to my job in the 90s, If the traffic lights were being kind.
Yeah my family used to watch it on rotation with about 10 other movies on Sundays , after we got back from Sunday lunch . We had a eclectic taste of Sunday afternoon movies from Hudson Hawk to the Longest Day , from Operation Petticoat and Down Periscope to Zulu and Raise the Titanic. 😃
It's an extremely polarizing movie. People either love it or hate it. There is no in-between. I have the DVD and have watched it so many times I know almost every word by heart.
I was so excited to see the thumbnail was Hudson Hawk. I love this absurdity and fun of this movie. So sad Emily didn't enjoy it, but Matt is still my spirit animal the whole way through.
This film is one of my guilty pleasures. I can never understand how it got snubbed at the Oscars. 😂 Best line: “I’ll torture you so slow, you’ll think it’s a career.”
Though he vocally despises the movie (and hates when people bring it up 😅) Richard E Grant is my favorite part of Hudson Hawk. He's at 11 the entire time and cranks it up even further in the finale somehow. I love that he dies airhumping the gold machine 🤣🤣🤣
He and Sandra may have gotten over that. She recently posted a video of the two of them getting together and introducing themselves as Darwin and Minerva - in character.
That movie is the most beautifully-orchestrated feature-length WTF ever made. Her look right as the credits roll sums it up perfectly. As comedies go, it's a really weird flavor, but when it hits, man does it ever hit.
Yeah, you start thinking about shit in this movie, it's over. Because then you have to acknowledge the even funnier aspect of the move being that someone green lit this thing, funding from studio heads, someone heard this at a pitch meeting and was like '"yep, Im sold"!!! I will say this is the only time we will see early 90's era action comedy, at its most unhinged. Only outdone that same year by Nothing But Trouble. Anyone remember THAT bunch of f**kness?

It's my favorite Bruce Willis movie. I adore this movie so much. It's a perfect 10 out of 10, and I don't care what anybody says. It's fun to see somebody actually watching it on youtube
This movie benefits from a second watch. The first time through you're like "WTF is this?" The second time around you know what to expect and can just relax and enjoy it's craziness.
I love this movie as a kid. You got to see “Blind Date” with Bruce Willis. It is hilarious. After watching the movie, you need to react to the trailer for blind date. It is hilarious as well. Just watch the trailer after watching the movie the trailer does spoil the movie a little bit. Love you guys. Keep the content up.
Holy schinkies!!! I just did my semi regular random search for anyone reacting to Hudson Hawk, and you guys dropped this gem just two hours earlier... I haven't watched it yet, but I can't wait to finally see someone react to it. And SO thrilled it's you guys, two of my favourites, doing it!!

I was waiting for someone to *FINALLY* do a reaction to Hudson Hawk. 😀 This movie is freaking hilarious. And I love hearing Bruce Willis and Danny Aiello singing.
Imagine, it's opening day... you and your pals go to BK for the Hudson Hawk meal, and then you walk into this. Keep in mind everything Bruce had done up till this point was gold. You know how that messes with you as a kid? Half kids movie, half weird action movie, 3/4 talking with the dolphins, sprinkled with curse words and exploding heads.
So I grew up watching Hudson Hawk as if it were a family film, I didn't even know it was Rated R until I was in my teens. I did watch a lot of movies growing up and had no expectation of actors or tone or even transitions. Watching Emily's reaction to it, has made me realize that for someone who hasn't seen it before just how weird and off-putting Hudson Hawk can be. I can say how you should feel with this film, and saying it isn't for you is absolutely understandable. As someone who has seen it a lot and got more of the jokes as I got older, this is still a family classic. I appreciate you two watching it even though it didn't hit for Emily. I find Hudson Hawk to be a silly fun movie where you can put it on and not think too hard about it.
Emily should've had at least 1 edible before watching this...maybe 3 🤣🤣🤣 This movie is gold! You just have to learn to let go of rational and just enjoy pure early 90s silliness

Had no doea what it was and we had a blast with it. For the last nearly 30 years we will still drop references randomly at the oddest times. We'd also just drop song titles and made up song lengths while doing something and start singing the song for shits and giggles. We also have a running joke with "Don't worry, I'm wearing ing my girdle" wen ripping each other over "expanding" a bit over the years 😅

I absolutely loved this movie, Bruce and Danny looked like they were having so much fun making it. Never fully understood why it bombed so hard, though I did get that after Die Hard, Bruce's image had done a total 180 away from his original comedic lovable smartass image to full on action hero, so some people couldn't keep up with the whiplash. (Edit) and amusingly, you discussed that very aspect afterwards. 🤣
That's it. After "Die Hard 2" especially, people went into this expecting standard action fare. The movie was the victim of critics calling it a bomb before most could go see it. "Backdraft" became a more attractive hit to a lot of people along with "City Slickers" while a lot of the hype was around "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
LOVE this movie!!!! It was VERY under appreciated when it first came out…i was pretty lonely in the theater when I saw it. I’m glad it’s getting some love now…the part where they’re singing during the heist is hilarious & kills me every time “…or would you rather be a fish…” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please watch Every Which Way But Loose from 1978 and Any Which Way You Can from 1980 starring Clint Eastwood in 2 very funny movies about Clint as a prize fighter and his pet Orangatang. . Later maybe even watch Clint Eastwood's Paint You Wagon from 1969 Funny and it has a few great songs in it too.
I knew we were in trouble when you weren't on board with the singing songs for time signatures. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy. This is one of my favorite absurdist films of all time... but it definitely is not for everyone.
I love this film. It’s a stupid cartoon and knows it is. A studio would never let this get made today. Is that a good thing? I don’t know but I’m glad it exists 🤣
First I want to say that I have loved this movie from the time it came out, it's always been one of my top movies, with that said... In New York City, Bruce was walking down the street and someone stopped him and told him that they had just watched his new movie, (Hudson Hawk) without blinking, Bruce took out his wallet and apologized and give the guy 5 bucks to pay for his ticket.
- "Ah Parii. The City of LOVE" ... Saw this back in high school. Can't tell you how many times my friends and I quoted this flick back & forth to each other. Some great one liners. - I know it's not everyone's favorite, but with the exception of Andie McDowell's drugged dolphin sequence, I loved every minute of this movie. The song timer gag is hilarious. - Say what you will about this movie, but it took some BIG swings and was VERY original.
Oh my gosh...they are doing Hudson Hawk...this is such amazing news....nobody does this movie. It is widely considered to be terrible, but it is actually snidely funny and clever...mostly. LOL The only thing better than FTFC reacting to this would be if they react to Joe Versus the Volcano. 💯

Just when I thought Miami Connection or The Room or even BREEN…but no. Hudson Hawk officially broke Emily.
Cinema Sherpa: "Charlie Bronson's always got rope". 😂😂😂
Favorite moment: 11:54 or so, his amused grin, her tightening grip on giant teddy, Bruce laughing maniacally. That should be memed up.
"EW! Menthol!"
WAT. This is my own personal gem do not expose it to the masses! Thank you. I got the power!
O but this movie is also a golden comedy classic.
Ball Ball.
Every which way but lose is worth it just for the title song alone. RIP Eddie Rabbit.
Right turn Clyde!
"they call the wind Mariah"
Any Which Way You Can is much better than Every Which Way But Loose.
this is a great movie, you just cant put too much thought into it. just enjoy the ride.
I like this fun movie, it makes me laugh by being so bonkers and Richard Grant is so outrageous over the top
I knew we were in trouble when you weren't on board with the singing songs for time signatures.
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy. This is one of my favorite absurdist films of all time... but it definitely is not for everyone.
I was about 15 when this first came out and was convinced this was a cinematic masterpiece.
Haven't even watched it yet, and I am so excited to see this movie's effect on poor unprepared minds...
Classic. One of the funniest movies I've seen. I had stomach cramps and cheek cramps the first time I saw it. And I still laugh a lot. It's a beaut.
"What do they call you guys, Igg and Ook?"
Later -
>BANG< "Igg!"
>BANG< "Ook!"
The meaning of this movie is how important the coffee is.
I love this ridiculous film. So much fun 😊
Hudson Hawk is one of Willis's underappreciated gems. I love its insanity from start to finish. Glad to see you got a chance to enjoy it.
No one ... AND I MEAN NO ONE ... reacts to this GEM of a movie!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 LETS GOOO!!! :D
Truly a gem of a film.
LOL
The only thing better than FTFC reacting to this would be if they react to Joe Versus the Volcano. 💯
Was it considered terrible?. I haven't seen it in a while but i did find it enjoyable. Fingers crossed i remember right.
This is not the movie i thought it was. I have definitely seen this in the past but it's not been memorable for me. It's...certainly a movie.
It’s simple. Some people get it, some don’t. It’s actually a very smart movie. The two different audience perceptions don’t change that.
I think I might have been sort of "programmed" to like it and get it from a young age...my Dad showed me the Flint movies many times. LOL
@@iKvetch558the Flint movies are awesome. Hudson Hawk? No so much.
