What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! All of these things added together is what has gaming websites everywhere continually rating SMITE as one of the best MOBA games available!

i just started watching vikings
This was really cool, creative AND funny! However.... Your main competition (League) takes the time, effort and money to produce for every new champion they release, crazy cool animated or even cinematic (albeit short) trailers. A good example is Bard, whom Smite players will recognize as a Janus & Sylvanus "copy" ( that's how cool Smite is), that had an AMAZING animated trailer. Smite's "Family" video, featuring Susano-o had me screaming with excitement, BUT maybe we could move away from trailers and showcases with footage happening IN the game, and get a (MUCH) anticipated cool animation trailer, outside from the game's graphics/moves/skills/dialogue limitations. It is something fans truly appreciate and go crazy about so, make it happen Hirez, please!
I don't know tbh, i stopped playing league when i found Smite back in 2014 so i ve seen him only in video, but i gotta say he is definitely a unique, versatile and amazingly beautiful project for a champ. I can see how there are magical tanky supports that just do much better and easier what he does, so he may not be a solid pick unless you have truly mastered him. But i dont believe he is trash. Besides abilities seasons and metas change all the time, and we have a few Gods like that in Smite that we know were awesome but now hardly ever get picked (Arachne) or even the other way around (Xing Tien). Thing is Bard is not boring for sure, but true, compared to Janus and Sylvanus he wouldn't stand a chance..
Wait what? Its a he! And yeah despite his utility and control he has low dmg even when build purely offensive
Bard is usually identified as a "he" (Or rather "it", because spirits aren't really female or male). He's actually pretty strong in the Support position.
He's probably the champion/one of the champs with the most utility in the game, so he actually really excels in the Support position. You can pull of a lot of amazing fights-winning plays (Damage isn't all that matters in a MOBA- At least not in League).
Also, as a Bard main, he can actually have a lot of poke damage with his Passive in the laning phase with the right build.
Sorry for all the rumble about a character that comes from a game different to the one in the video, I'm just a really passionate Bard player who also happens to check the news of other MOBAs. ;P
