Blaenau Ffestiniog, NW. One of the largest and best preserved slate mines in North Wales. Set on many floors this mine has a network of tunnels, internal inclines and manways. 1st Part video takes you to Floors B and C.

I remember going in a slate mine near Blanau Ffestiniog many many years ago, there was an enormous chamber, so big it almost felt like being outside at night, minus the stars.....
Thanks, in a day I managed to cover 4 floors and there is more to explore still. It's huge!
I found once I turned off the sound , this video was more enjoyable.
As i have sed before i am a caver and never been into a mine.I think this is going to be my first ,thanks to your exploration. I will stay underground for 2 or 3 days .One question i would like to ask if i may. Masks ? Although i haven't seen you yet have to wear any sort of breathing apparats' i were to stay down for few days ,would you recommend i have one available.? Am i likely to come across any bad air .
Sorry I missed your comment. You won't need masks and mostly you don't need a gas monitor unless you delve into some really poorly ventilated levels. Worth familiarising with H2S though as it can kill if in high concentration.

Access to this mine Haa been made more difficult by the adit that runs to the winch house being filled in I think due to too many ill equipped people entering the mine. That's of course not saying you were ill equipped.
Yes but considering access is still very easy, it's probably not a bad thing.
