I have used this glass in this Video: RIEDEL Veritas Champagne
Leon used this glass in this Video: Gabriel Glas StandArt
We have tasted the following wines in this Video:
2016 Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett Mosel Germany €15.90
2020 Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Clifford Bay Marlborough New Zealand €22.00
2016 Baron de Ley Reserva Rioja Spain €10.00
2018 Weingut Roterfaden Lemberger Württemberg Germany €15.50
My name is Konstantin Baum, I am a Master of Wine and I have been challenged to a blind tasting … My intern Leon has been working for my company for the last months and he has selected two wines and I have selected two wines that we are going to taste and identify. All wines were poured into randomly numbered wine bottles so that we cannot tell the wine from the bottle shape, and we don’t know which wines are Leon’s and which wines are mine. It might therefore happen, that we get our wines confused, which would be embarrassing… I can win points if I identify Leon’s two wines and vice versa: We get two points for the correct grape variety, country, region, vintage, and the price bracket (+-1 Euros) - you can get 1 point if you are close when it comes to the price and the vintage. We will taste the wines separately and will reveal the scores in the end.
I like the format of the guest blind tasting. Nicely done.
More of Leon! Really enjoyed his personality
Hehe thank you !!
Just his personality? He's gorgeous!
@@schferleon 100%. You’re on the learning journey with the rest of us.
@@schferleon You need to be more in the tastings.
Whos Leon? The old guy who doesn't know a new Zealand accent and uses French? Or the idiot who's a college boy pretending to be a conesouir?
That's a brave intern. Blind tasting on RUclips would scare the shit out of me.
I mean it kinda did haha, thank you though for the nice words
Love blind tastings but would prefer that the wines not be revealed until the end. It’s fun to try to guess the wines based on your tasting notes. Another small suggestion: swirling the wine in the light is helpful too, so that the viewer can get a better sense of the wine’s color and appearance. Love the channel!
I second John's suggestions. Loved the format and I cannot wait for the next installment.
Absolutely, you should be doing more blind tasting videos. It’s really entertaining and educational, since you don’t only show how to taste, but also a lot of useful insights about grape varieties and regions.
That makes it even funnier to watch when CB gets it wrong. Stay true!
@@TheSoteriologist Ah, so!
Always love a blind tasting from you Konstantin! Great format, but it would be even better if a 3rd person chose all the wines and we can see you guess more wines!
Next time!
Agree
That’s a good idea. Way tougher
Very entertaining tasting! Should do more of these, but have a 3rd person pick the wines.
Love the tasting face off, please make this a regular segment. I do think it would be more fun truly blind, knowing half the bottles is quite an advantage.
Thanks for continuing to make great wine education content!
Love the integrity :)
I don't comment much, but I really enjoy your channel, some of your summaries are excellent and I use that information when picking a wine I am unfamiliar with.
Thanks!
Particularly enjoyed the intern and his take on the wine and analysis when contrasted against the wine master, great video!
Very entertaining video, generally the blind tasting concept always makes me watch. Especially if they are slightly more "known" wines, or wines I can recognize.
yes!!! the format was cool and I liked the perspective of novice vs. master. nice
I always love the way you do the deductive thinking in a blind tasting and start to narrow the options. for me, it is a "do more of that blind/deductive tasting " !!!!
yes more blind tasting games!!
Enjoy the thinking you use to narrow down to the right wine and region. Leon adds to the program and the casual and easy conversation you two share is a pleasure to watch. Doesn't seem like a two-month internship. Bravo.
Extremely entertaining and educational video! Really enjoyed the vibe between you two, your intern is really skilled as well.
Thanks a lot !!
@@schferleon by the way, how did you manage to get a job in a NZ winery? It's something I aspire to do in a few years!
Definitely more of these! Loved including Leon too!
It would be better if you blind test the 4 wines. More opportunities to follow your though process in chosing variety, country and region, vintage, etc.
So master of wine Peter Koff who regularly appears on the Wineking channel is going to be in the Mosel making Riesling. You guys should collab.
He is already back in the US but maybe another time!
Loved it! Tons of fun. I love seeing people taste blindly and analytically.
It's a very nice counterpoint to the usual informative format. It's fun, but also represents a more demonstrative aspect as opposed to simply being informative.
Great video, really enjoyed it!!! Please keep this format coming!!! Thank you!!!
i like blind tastings. They are fun, and you can learn a lot from them
PLEASE MORE OF THESE! What a fantastic format. Lots of fun.
Really entertaining format, and very educational too, thank you, more please!
Great video - love the format!
Yesss, more content like this!! Great video!!
Thank you for the video! More of these please!
This was awesome and really fun to follow along! Great job guys!
Yes, I like the blind tasting format. Seems to be quite a humbling experience.
I really enjoyed this format! I would like a few seconds more on each wine that was guessed wrong to explain the similarities between the guess and the actual bottle.
Great job to you both!
Super great format, thank you Konstantin for those contents
Love it - also like the idea of someone else picking the wines so more unknowns
Great video. Really enjoyed the format, more videos like this would be great. Keep up the good work.
This was a great video! Both of you are hilarious and it was so entertaining to watch!
This was stunning and a lot fun! Would like to see more of these!! Cheers!
I love it! More like this please!! ♥️
This was great Konstantin! Love your channel and content. It's unmatched.
I appreciate that!
Absolutely great!
Love this format. Keep the coming!
yes I like this type of content. Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Great format, very entertaining and informative, good job 👍🏼
very nice (yes more tastings ! :) entertaining and a lot of interesting info. thank you for the videos!
Please do more! This was awesome!
I really enjoyed your tasting challenge done here. You both obviously possess great depth of knowledge and outstanding and discerning palettes. Awesome!!!
Yes please, more if this 👍🏻 really enjoyable, but next time let a third person select the wines so its only unknown wines for all. Keep up the great work ❤️
6:50 this is interesting.
because I also tend to get confused when I'm guessing young vintage white wine of australia or new zealand.
usually me and my friends give extra 1 year compare to old world white wines.
maybe it's because they made it 6 month earlier than northern hemisphere!
That was fantastic. Yes, please do more head to head tastings!
Very enjoyable episode well done by both of you really enjoy watching your Chanel always excellent content and very informative keep up the good work thanks
Yes, this was very entertaining and informative!
I love those kind of videos. I have seen US, Korean and spanish wine masters blind taste and tell what wine they are tasting. The only mistakes they made (if they even got it wrong, which baffled me even further) one, was the vintage. And even then they were just a year off. Absolutely astonishing. I am 2:30 in to your video and brutally excited.
The format is a nice change and interresting to watch!
This was really fun. Would love to see more of these.
love the blind tasting videos and especially this format where I can relate more to the trainee. great videos, I'm learning a lot so thank you!
I love this format. Your videos are awesome. Your "sidekick" threw me for a spin too when he chose an 11% ABV wine! Wonderful! I'm getting into natural wines myself.. still have a long way to go! I'm more of a beer snob myself 😂
Awesome format ! Please do more !
This format of video is GREAT!
Thank you both!
Yeah! Like very much this format! Educational and fun !
Glad to hear it!
Very interesting and funny to watch, excellent format!
This format was great! Would be fun to see more, especially fun to watch how you break down classic styles from famous regions 😁
Loved the Episode hope to see more like this
Yes, this format is fun. Great job.
I liked it a lot, and I even guessed half the varieties correctly from your spoken information! Leon is a great addition to the presentation, please do more tasting games & competitions.
Overall you have very good ideas for films on this channel - very good that you are not focusing only about explanation specific wine regions or grape varieties - it is much more interesting this way!
Cooles Format! Hat mir sehr gefallen!
Yes! Continue these tastings with Leon. He did a good job
Great Format! Do more of these and get him on the channel more!
Love the format Konstantin! As an up and coming wine professional I really understand that blind tasting frustration 😅
Love this format- really fun! Also really loved Leon!
Thanks Bethany !
Definitely do more of these. I need to taste a Tempranillo and a Pinot side by side now to see what they have in common and how to tell them apart
So fun to watch! Wonderful job!
Thank you
Thanks for the video. I did enjoy the format, please do some more videos of this kind.
More to come!
Yes to the blind tasting please - it is great to see the thought process behind trying to guess the grape variety and other details!
Oh my gosh, how fun was that. I have watched many of your videos, Konstantin, but never felt like my comment would be of interest. However, after watching this video I really enjoyed this tasting challenge with your Professional tasting notes, versus your intern's. This was a joy to see and experience the two of you comparing wine. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!!
It is a funny video, very interesting to discover the Lamberg grape that I never tasted! Looking forward to trying it soon!
Great video! I love this format. Please do this more often!
You got it!
love the blindtasting format... so much fun... Leon is a natural...thanks!
Hope to see more of this
LOL @00:04 Absolutely fantastic. Your videos are a treat!
Absolutely! I love this format
Well done Leon
More like this, great guy
I’ve heard many very knowledgeable wine professionals say that blind tasting is one of the hardest things you can ask your brain to do…. That you both got 3 out 4 with the detail is just stunning!!
To be fair they knew two wines so it was at least a 50/50 chance to get those right.
Of course tasting and smelling blind is a he'll of a ride
Very fun format for the video, keep them coming!
Thanks! Will do!
i love the honesty
Yes, super entertaining!
You are so supportive of your intern - very cool.
This video is so interesting and fun! Many thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I liked it!
I liked comparing both your descriptions.
I liked watching your reactions during
The revealing.
Suggestions: Have a separate party pick the wines.
I like the format. It really shows how much there is to learn about wine and that even the most highly trained professionals don’t always have all the answers. Next time though find a way to have all four wines blind to both of you.
Do more of these videos with special guests
I'm a big fan of blind tastings as well!
Yeah! Keep doing them, lots of fun!!!
Thanks! Will do!
I liked this format as the raw edge of competition made it intriguing to watch
Yes, more of the blind tasting.
I am new to your channel, and I enjoy your reviews of wines from all over the world.
Good video! Was fun to see this type of blind tasting. 😁🍷
Very nice. Keep up the wine tasting
Harry Potter got tall!
Love the vids, keep them coming!
Another really good video Konstantin. I like wine, but am no expert. Your videos are educational but entertaining. Keep it up. Leon seems like a good sport with knowledge and is also a natural on camera. Keep it up and thanks!
Great vid! More please!
