This totally works; and it is so worth being able to craft a needed item on the fly for extra STAT or Attack bonuses. This makes the early levels a lot easier.
Then keep your eye out for single and double augmented items. Stop taking the most expensive reward with intension of selling, take what you can make blanks out of for crafting. I spend the extra 15 to 20 second at every quest turn in looking for items I can make into what I want or need, not what the random generator gives me.

Thanks for the video. I returned after ten years away and one of my toons is level 170 in crafting but I completely forgot everything about it. I had to go to the material exchanger because I still had thousands of the old crafting mats. It was a pain to trade them out one stack at a time but it's nice to have one universal material rather than the dozen or so that they had when they first introduced cannith crafting.
By the way, it's insane that you got to 170 in minutes when it took at least a few hours in the old system.
I can't believe how many essences I used up but now level 207. LOL. I should have stopped at the level 20 bound shard, but i keep going. Thanks for the video.

thanks bossman! I finally got around to getting my level 20 dwarf to the crafting area in kundark, he was level zero when I started and finished at level 202. I did go thru 12k of the crafting crystals, it took me this long to get them all. Thanks for the info!

Just swinging by to demonstrate that you can get 10k essences on a first life. All I've done is deconstruct my random gen loot from 7 to 24. By which point I had the 10k essences. In addition, without playing the AHs or doing anything really to make Plat I've had more than enough to repair my gear, buy an airship, and reset my Epic destinies twice. So, totally doable for a fresh toon without resources from alts or years of playing.
A totally fair criticism except that he never implied it was for people without resources.

Well 3hrs of crafting XP boosts, 125 35% success boosters and 35000 Cannith essences and I'm 279 so this is a bit optimistic and expensive.
Make sure you have a LOT, and I do mean a LOT of essences available. It gets exponentially more expensive as you go up in levels.
You know action boost and things like greater heroism will give you a better chance of making it quicker
I am not aware that any kind of buffs affect cannith crafting
My main toon was 147 , won a 10k stack of essences from AH. I got a 100% crafting XP elixir, & 50 success boosters from AH. I went from 147 to 201 and still had 17 minutes left on crafting xp pot by time I ran out of essences ….😂😂

Hey Tayo, you can usually find stacks on the Shard exchange if you don't have guildies or friends to hook you up. Also while you are trying to build up essenes, I recommend deconstructing all your trash loot. Might take you a few months to build up essences, but if there's no other option then that's one :-)

Now slightly gimped as the crafting boosters require the percentage to be above 50%. Maybe Standing Stone watched your vid.
Hey Jody, I just logged in to check this and it's working fine for me, I just crafted a 23% chance with and without a booster. Double check that your level ranges are set to show everything. You might need to manually set them because by default it may not be showing very low % chance shards.
I tried doing this but forgot that I needed to be lvl 30+ before starting it. You can't craft a minimum level 30 shard if you're only level 5. So level up first.
I've only just joined DDO after 14 years away so do we get the essences from playing the game on drops? I'm currently a crappy lvl 2 rogue Asborian The Bold in game.
As a vet myself I can confirm that you do get essences from playing the game, chests occasionally drop some. You can also use an item dissolver in the cannith crafting hub to turn unwanted unnamed weapons, armor and accessories into essences. I find that the majority of my essences comes from this later source. Cannith challenge reward ingredients can also be turned into bags of cannith essences though from experience this a terrible way to generate essences but if you are desperate for a few essences to finish up a item that is also an option.
Is using alts to get the quest rewards still viable? Can the +xp and +success buffs still be used on another character even tho the tooltip specifically say "can only be used on yourself"?
yup still works unless it was stealth changed in the past month or so.

A lot of the 5 hrs was preparation.
Switching between 22 characters and realocating resources. I apparently had a character who had reached 6th level and had to convert about 4000 of the old essences of various types.
I bought the 35% booster and 100% xp and went to work. I actually ran out of essences but Getting from level 6 to 196 took less than 20 mins if you exclude prep time.

O yoda of the D&D can you buy the elixir of greater crafting in the ddo store? I picked up the 35% bonus ( a couple of stacks) but the elixir I dont see
haha, yep. just search the term "crafting" and the crafting xp elixirs should be at the top. A single 30 minute +100% crafting xp pot is just 40 points!
Great video is there a advantage to craftinging on your main toon , I just returned to game and had been crafting on a alt years ago he’s at 100 with a bunch of old stuff I can trade in , was just wondering
No advantage. Just designate 1 toon as your crafter and everything you craft can be passed to any toon on that account. After the recent balance pass you only need to go to about level 275 to be able to craft everything for self now. Stop by the live stream if you have questions or want to discuss 🙂

Doesn't work like this anymore, have to be 3 or 4 before you can get the quest for crafting and you have to buy the items from vendor but quest still gives you the staff for first part of the quest and of course once you are finished the rewards are still account bound..for now at least. I am vip so I can just make an alt choose to either start at level 4 or do the tutorial so start at level 4
I got a crazy question what level on Crafting do you have to be to obtain the Force burst effect?
Hi John, "Force Burst" is a crit-based effect on some DDO weapons but is not something that can be crafted. With Cannith crafting you can add force damage starting with 1d6 per hit on a level 1 crafted weapon, up to 7d6 per hit on a level 30 crafted weapon. The condition for this besides the 10k essensses is to also a shared bank right? Without a shared bank you Will need to use store boosters.
Yep and you'll need more than 10k essences to get all the way to 300 from zero. About 25k +/- depending on the success boosters and crafting xp pot that you use. But 10k will get you a very good start and put you in a place where you can craft a lot of stuff, making it worthwhile to start sooner rather than later. Shared bank is a very important function in DDO if you have multiple toons. Most likely you will pull loot on a toon that you want to move over to another. I would strongly encourage e1 to at least buy the basic shared bank when it goes on sale. For a new player without essences I would recommend for your first 1-30 life that you deconstruct all your junk loot, which crunches it to essences. Doing this during a 1-30 life will get you to about level 100 just from deconstructing junk loot alone. By then you should have a stack of essences to work with and you can start your quick leveling routine from level 100ish using the essences you crunched during your first life. This is the approach I used in my Northwynd True First and True Second Life video series. By the time I finished the second life on that toon, using nothing from the store and only what I could find and farm, I made it to about level 300. Using store items I could've made faster progress. if you don't want to wait and build up your own stack of essences, you can usually find 10k stacks of them on the shard exchange for about 50+/- shards a stack depending on your server. one or two stacks of those would get you very significant progress. Hey guys, just wanted to let you know how sad I am. Did this exactly, had my 75% booster running, had 70 cannith 25% chance boosters, and ended up only getting to level 191 crafting with 11k essence. I failed basically every 28% there was 20+ times in a row, I am so tilted man now I have to take another week and grind this stuff out again and hope my rng is better next time. :(
hey UncleMoon, 191 isn't bad with 11k essences. You just need to get to about 275 now with the rebalance they removed the power level 31-34 shards so can craft everything for self with level 275 plus the freebie 25% boosters. Spend a couple weeks crunching stuff and make your final push. you'll get there then that's all you need :-)

@@vooduspyce Thanks for responding. I saw the videos, buy you mention that a user just needs to "create a new character, run the tutorial, save the reward in bank and repeat with a new character". I created a new character and went into House C crafting hall, but I still do not see what tutorial you are talking about in House C. Excuse my "noobness".

Hi Chris, you don't have to spend DDO points. I recommend buy 2-3 stacks of 35% boosters and 1 100% crafting xp pot from the store. It's not that expensive but otherwise you can use the 75% xp pot from the tutorial and 25% boosters from running the tutorial repeatedly to get 50-75 of them. For a new player I would recommend for your first 1-30 life that you deconstruct all your junk loot, which crunches it to essences. Doing this during a 1-30 life will get you to about level 100 just from deconstructing junk loot alone. By then you should have a stack of essences to work with and you can start your quick leveling routine from level 100 using the essences you crunched during your first life. @@vooduspyce Are you aware of the Cannith Essence farming technique?
I don't recommend it for those who dislike grindy stuff, but if you need a bang of essences quickly it can really do the trick.
Quest: House Cannith Challenge - Kobold Island: Short Cuts/Disruptor (either on Epic)
Technique: Players split up and rush to large extractors killing red named. Each red named killed puts a "Chest" into inventory for all players in instance. It's been a while but iirc once you have 3+ people each red named gives 2 chests in inventory. So just run in, kill red named, and TP/recall out. Rinse and repeat until your bags are full of "Chests".
If you have alts you can double/triple/etc.. up but its still much faster with at least 2 others who can each take a named.
Obviously run it on highest level you can for better iLevel loot and thus more essences per item.
Because the chests are not "normal" they never ransack. Farm until your eyes bleed.

Oh... so the answer is "throw money at the problem". And here I thought there was some insight involved.
He literally explains how to do it without spending a penny, and in his example he uses the free crafting boosters and still gets to level 169. But of course it's going to be a little faster if you buy the 35% boosters with DDO points. Obviously.

I don't know how much crafting has, or hasn't changed since this video, but 10k essence is not enough to get to 300. Wish I had known that before I spent points on what you "recommend".
Hey William, 10k isn't all you need but but 10k gets you real progress and puts you in a place to craft awesome stuff. With just a few thousand essences on Hardcore season 5 I leveled up to nearly 200 on a first lifer and I could crafted great useful stuff. Keep dissolving essences and in a few weeks you'll be able to make another push. You never lose crafting levels so you only go up from where you are now.
Things are mostly the same but one thing that's different is the power level 31-34 shards are gone, so about level 270 is all you need now to be able to craft everything for yourself. If store investments are taxing you, just get the freebies from the tutorial in the house K crafting hall. They are bta so can do on all alts or a new toon and transfer to your crafter through shared bank. It's kind of tedious and not quite as good as the store stuff but it's free. The store stuff is just about getting best efficiency from your essences. Keep dissolving your junk loot and before you know it you'll have so many essences you won't know what to do with them.

I watch a lot of your videos, especially on druid. I think that DDO or SSG has you RUclipsrs encoded in their game because you get everything. you can NOT be that frigging lucky LOL.
