I chill drift on dirt roads and i can tell you that it is as much fun as drifting my g35 on dirt and i can tell pvc dtifting is just as chill cuz it seems the same amount of fun

That is the slowest drifting I’ve ever seen but I bet it is crazy fun to do.much be super cheap since you aren’t replacing tires all the time.
Also hardly any wear on the car, no high rpm, no clutch dumps, no slamming gears, just a casual cruise with slideyness.. Im going to have to register my subaru fiori (1991 rex)
with the speed they're going might also be the safest form of drifting
AMVDawg it looks fun as hell, but to watch as a competitive event may be more of a "haha" sort of thing than high speed drifting.

I think this is awesome, quiet and probably better for the environment as the plastic could be recycled for another day.
He mentioned it's like the car is on casters, probably the future, by putting caravan jockey wheels on the rear hubs instead and keep the handbrake on.

@@derPetunientopf yes car's actual value jumps up to like 5 times or more when it's used for cheap or easy drifting. All the Nissan S chassis are listed on KBB for like 3k max but then you'll be paying around 10-20 unless its been slammed into walls repeatedly

Wanker, the Pajero is called Montero here in South America, for obvious reasons.
It's actually called from the Gulliver's Travels, Laputa (also known as a floating island), and most recently known as the Castle in the Sky, as you may remember the Ghibli film.
Actually in Brazil it came as Pajero and I never knew why the different names for the same car.. LOL

This is a little bit like RC countersteer Drifting, because you have to keep power on through corners or else you end up backwards. Love it! Brilliant idea.

Well, that was... different. Had some figure skating music playing in my head from just how slow that was, but it still manages to look majestic in a way. Not saying I'd do this of my own volition, particularly because I don't have a drift car of my own yet, but I wouldn't be against going for a ride along in one of those just to see what it feels like.

As someone who manufactures 1000s of kg's every year of PVC this pleases me.
Also this would be a great way for someone younger to get into drifting and learn about track days and basic maintenance etc before fully committing to a more expensive car and program.

Pvc pipes around tires comes from rc drift cars - it's an old technique to turn an awd rc car into a drift rc car.

People were drifting RCs way before trikes hey. Nitros were a favourite because they actually had power, pre Lithium.
PaaPs my savage rc truck didn’t need pvc even with sticky tires on because I kept adding more power lol as the famous quote of Jeremy Clarkson.
I think at one point I had the power to Weight ratio past 7/1 bhp basically higher than a Chevy c5 and I could do back flips from all of the power;)

I believe, the japan models are awd. If it were fwd, they would need to be holding the hand brake on the whole time to keep it out, ans if it was rwd, a car with that short of a wheel base would just turn into a fidget spinner..
Subways Shenanigans Some of these are available as AWD in Japan, but you wouldn't see them with rear wheels still turning but not completely spinning out like they ard here. These are definitely FWD.

Would also need a couple of cans of coolant, their patented high tech mechanism for pissing coolant on the tubes, actual tube with something to cut it and obviously maintanence but it must be really low for the K cars

By binding rear tires with pvc tubes that don't stick to the road they whip these cars by weight transfer
basically food trays under rear tires, same thing but a lot more efficient and possibly stylish

Jan Duarte I'm fairly certain the 4wd Mira sends a limited torque to the rear wheels, so it's probably fine on just the rears.
i think it would work just as well on the 4WD Mira.
I`d be interested to see how that would work considering the front and rear wheels will spin at the same speed.
You`d have different traction front/rear.. My guess is the auxilliary will break.
ToreDL87 Depends on the center differential. These small AWD cars rarely have a fully open center differential. I doubt you'd see more than 25% torque to the rear wheels, maybe as little as 10%.

This is awesome! Reminds me of my drift trike and having to put PVC on the rears so it will slide. Crazy to think that idea would be adopted on actual cars.

Alexi, this is how we drift in RC, both with 4wd and Rwd cars.. It's amazing what can be learned by putting pvc rings on the rims of the car - Ofc our tires is now made specifically for it, but the same thing could apply for real cars - All it takes are some plastic mold to make it like a tire with longer durability and more fun :)

i drift in a dirt course for low friction drifting, but i guess you could invert the part of the system you're taking the grip off of. pretty cool.
although mine is rwd rear engined so it's really drifting and not just sliding

Haha he said 4 metre long aquarium grade pipe. I'm guessing like 3-500usd for that, that stuff looks like it's 3/8" of 1/2" thick which isn't cheap. But it looks like they only use 2-3 inches per tire, so you'd get about ten or more sets I'm thinking from each pipe. Still, even if they're 50 bucks a set, you only payed 300 for the car. That's almost on par with buying a bloody RC car meant for drifting.

In theory this is Lift-off oversteer. Reducing speed at the front axel will make the rear does want to, if at even the slightest angle, come around because it has more inertia than the front. You should be able to power out of ¿almost any? skid. When touching the brakes the inertia will kick in harder, causing the spin-out. There is a company in NL that does this to gokarts -mackys driftkarting- (google img). In theory this should also work on RWD (Kei)cars with not enough torque to spin them without the PVC rings!

when my local karting track bought new karts, they did this with all of the old ones until they all blew up. great great fun
