My understanding, in the research that I've done, is that being a CFI is very much part of the learning process in becoming a full on pilot. You're working with people who will think and react to things differently than you do/did and that's an opportunity for you to reiterate the information. You've already demonstrated you're competent enough to fly on your own. I don't understand why there would be any hate for the light sport path when nearly flight school that I've found in my area is training people in a light sport air craft until you start getting into multi engines.
Great Job Kaity! You are one of the folks that I am following regularly. You and I have been flying about the same amount of time and I wish I had known you when I was getting started. I have worked in the industry for over 20 years. There are no shortcuts, but there are certainly ways to be efficient. Thanks for throwing great information out there. Ignore the haters. Hi Kaity!! I have a question for you! I have set aside about 12k to spend just on flying and have 780TT/58ME so far. Option 3: go back to working corporate and make way more money than what I could make flying right now and self pay till I hit 1500-2000 hrs OR get pick up to fly a 91/135 gig Thank you for your time!
The light sport CFI for sure doesn't take as much time to get as a normal CFI but how did you pay for the ratings after the CFI for light sport aircraft? I think 90% of the people don't get those kind of opportunities. I gave up on funding my own flight training so I did 5 years of an enlistment in the Air Force and using the post 9/11 G.I. Bill in a collegiate flying program. 5:22 there's no way you just cold called an Air Force unit or any kind of military related flight instructing job and got hired with 500 hours total time... Sorry but in the process of looking for my first flying job and that just doesn't happen. At least it doesn't happen for me.
I paid for the rating after that with cash…I’m not sure what you’re asking exactly. I do have a couple other videos where I share exactly what I spend on each rating. And as far as the Air Force flight training part: both IFT and UPT use civilian instructors. Instead of you just saying something didn’t happen maybe it’s just that you aren’t aware of every possible opportunity in aviation

Negative comments display a bunch of ego/arrogance and it’s not helpful because the commenter does not have enough info to make such absolute criticisms
I hate that you even had to defend yourself for comments like that. I ignore “Keyboard warriors”. Sometimes it’s hard and on some vids I have had to disable comments, but I refuse to waste my energy dropping to their level with a response.
well, while I appreciate the explanation, most of your arguments don't make sense. Not always but in most case i want to be taught from an experienced instructor as he/she possibly has flown in more conditions. Nepotism is a reality. I don't believe if you say your father didn't help you get ahead of others.
It just depends on the instructor like I said. Some more experienced ones are not necessarily better. I have seen some very high time instructor who are absolute crap as CFIs.
Oh wow I have to jump in on this one!!!! I have used many different instructors due to many reasons from the instructors getting jobs from airlines to me getting a different instructor because he held his helicopter instructor rating as well as fixed wing and an A&P certification and he was very knowledgeable but with that came arrogance and I know it all attitude, and once finished with my first flight with him, he asked me what I did for a profession and when I explained that I worked for a certain government entity, he stated why didn’t you tell me that before as if that would’ve made a difference on how he treated me. saying all this to say that my next flight instructor had lower time hours and actually taught me more than the more experienced 3000 hour CFII MEI couldn’t.

where did you see 150k? job posting has it listed as 80-110k which is still great
The posting right now says $110k. I was told they will be going up to $150k soon but I have not officially had that confirmed. I made $91k when I worked there in 2018 so that increase wouldn’t be too wild for 2024
nor Do i see 500 hour number. I do see 200 dual, assuming thats after 250 commercial/cfi route. So thats what, 450 hours?
@@Forex-vj7dc yes that’s where the 500 hours comes from. Someone could have less than that
@@pilotkaity makes total sense now thank you
Wow! I made 10k a year as a CFI/CFII in the mid 90’s…….
The grind!
It's great you can pass on your knowledge in a positive way and delete negativity. There will always be Karens. Jesus had His and He says we will have ours.
Thanks for this encouragement!
Where can I find the CFI for the airforce job?
It’s in the description
I’d be afraid of light sport aircraft because they are not certified.
They have similar maintenance and inspections required. They’re still manager under faa rules
Negative comments display a bunch of ego/arrogance and it’s not helpful because the commenter does not have enough info to make such absolute criticisms
Yep so true
How much longer did it take you going that route
I was working within a year. I never had the goal of going to an airline but I hit the ATP mins at the same time as my peers
@@pilotkaity thanks for the reply and great content
141 nerd was nun but facts😂
😂 the part 61 cowboy too. My husband edits these for me and that had me crying
BS. Even light sport will cost a lot
What’s BS?
I hate that you even had to defend yourself for comments like that. I ignore “Keyboard warriors”. Sometimes it’s hard and on some vids I have had to disable comments, but I refuse to waste my energy dropping to their level with a response.
This is probably the answer
Oof. People on the internet really suck. Anyway, bet that open position gets flooded with applications now! Maybe they’ll send you a Christmas card 😂
Haha I hope they get some good applicants! I loved working there
well, while I appreciate the explanation, most of your arguments don't make sense.
