I don't see why this game was hated by some people, it's fun for a casual spin off sonic game, the biggest problem I thought was the fact it only had 5 stages and has not much replay value unless you play multiplayer

LittleProgPlace it's not very fitting because it's like 1/3 chance of sunny only, then 1/3 chance rainy and 1/3 chance snow. the map isn't even happy and cheery it's just generic so the song is random and feels out of place

Amy, Robotnik, and Tails Doll all hover over water. Metal Sonic & Metal Knuckles can jump on the water's surface, which makes them better for dealing with water than their counterparts. Super Sonic basically has the best of everything besides turning. He can also fly across water.
I liked it as a kid and it holds a special place in my heart due to that, and if you're used to it it's fun. The problem is that the controls are pretty dated, they're basically tank controls which is pretty awkward when it's a running game, and the turn speed is really slow. If you can get past the awkward controls and steering, the game doesn't have much content. Only 5 stages and 10 characters is pretty bad, and the whole game is finished in 40 minutes by most people. it was a Sonic game at a time when the Saturn desperately needed one and the main Sonic game, Sonic Xtreme, was cancelled. It was built of a Formula 1 engine and fairly rushed, hence the lack of content. At the time it wasn't that bad since 3D games were new and tank controls were still the most common way of controlling your character in a 3D environment, and consoles had just gotten the ability to play music other than 16 bit, so having actual music and not just video game music was an interesting experiment. A lot of the stuff in the game was just a product of its time and a sign of a company trying to figure out what works in a new era of gaming.
While Metal is my favorite character when it comes to the giant cast of the series characters, I have to ask. Is there a specific reason you chose him, or do you like using him?

great speed run, but my god you can tell the developers didn't give a damn about the race tracks my god all you just did was run in circles and BAM race is done lol.
You do have to consider that these tracks were made for more than just racing. There's the tokens and Chaos Emeralds to find, and you have to go far out of your way to get them. I think the course designers were more focused on making these courses elaborate than they were on making them challenging for a straight-up race, which admittedly ended up hurting the replay value.
This game is more annoying to complete on Saturn because the Emeralds are bugged. If you beat a stage with both the Emeralds and all the Medals, it negates your first-place victory in the main race when you race the course boss, meaning you have to replay the level anyway to acquire the Emerald.
You know about the glitch for a really fast time on Radical City? It's hard to do, but you could definitely shave 30 to 45 seconds off that stage's time for the battle against the Tails Doll
