For as often as Ark-One has gotten piecemealed and reused, it's color scheme and its thematic connotations to malice remain remarkably consistent.
To be honest I think I like the new undersuit for Ark-One more but prefer the one Black stripe that the head had in Zero-One. Something about that more monochromatic Helmet just hits differently man. Thousand Ark I'm kinda meh on, but it's clear to me that it was made out of necessity due to them not making an extra Thouser Suit. You'd think they'd have made an extra Thouser Suit, but it looks like the undersuit got repainted to Zaia's and the head was already repainted so they just said fuck it. Only for it to come full Circle with Ark-One using Zaia's suit in Gotchard.
From Ark-Zero To Ark-One To Ark-Malgam
Just like Kaixa from Faiz and TheBee from Kabuto, there’s so many of them, probably due a motif from their real life insect counterparts. In my opinion, Ark one or Ark Zero, (whatever you may prefer to go by) would also fall into this category not because of an insect motif but rather because of the theme of malice and hatred being spread
Less of a repurpose and more of an update to the design kinda like it was evolving. Repurpose would be for separate characters that use parts of others such as Zaia, which you mentioned, or to be more extreme, characters like Kamen Rider Hattari. The identity crisis part would come from Ark-One originally being Ark-Zero's final form to fight Zero-One but was changed. Course this was later used in Gotchard as Ark-Zero form changes into Ark-One used by one of the Hundreds.
Hundred Version is meant to be a cheap copy anyway so I think it's fine if some little detail is different from original
My only thought to why ark one has 2 stripes instead of 1 is because of the key design. Cuz in the key design it also has 2 stripes, dunno is that where they got the 2 stripes from though.
I'm gonna be honest, the 1st suit of Ark One is always my favorite despite my friends liking the one in Gotchard more
Zero one is probably the one and only show where no matter how many you recolored the suit, it always looks sick af even Hellrising hopper looks lit🔥
I can't chalk up the two striped helmet to an accident since there have been changes made to the Hundred generals' henshin poses to reflect that they are not the original Riders, but just stole their weaponry
Tbh, the new ark-zero suit has really grown on me. At least to me the extra bulk and unevenness fits the ark more and makes the suit more individual then the original ark-zero suit. It generally feel like there was in evolution from ark-zero to one instead alternative from vibe i was getting with the og suits. And omfg the extra white/sliver on the hands and on lower legs are single-handedly making the boots work, because at least to me they never worked on ark-zero.
This such a good video talking about a suits repurposed. Id like to see more video like this.
I think the original Ark-Zero suit is still the coolest one of these. It just looks really menacing.

So, I need to catch up on gotchard, but is there a reason it seems the Ark-One malgram uses exclusively sea-based chemys?

If I remember correctly while most of them are sea based chemy’s one of them is an outer space themed one but then again space could be linked to the theme of the sea in one way or another

Small aside, but As is kinda lame name for Ark's emmissary. She shouldve been called Will. Now, hear me out, first, it is a play on "as is the will of ark" as horobi and all metsubojinrai members spout when taking orders. Second, it'll complete the trio of Was, Is, Will, the humagear representing past, present, and future. Third, playing off the second point, being the humagear representing the future, her existence is an assertion that Ark believes malice, destruction, and extinction are an inevitability for humanity.
She was named As cause they already used the name Will for someone.
They gave the name to a humagear in the cross over movie between Zi-O and Zero One.
And he became Another Zero One
