Struggling to get the best out of your coffee with your Sage Barista Pro?
Fed up of wasting beans when trying to dial in a new espresso?
We're here to help!
In this video, we show you how to dial in a coffee on your Sage Barista Pro machine. We are using our Colombian Jazz coffee beans (ironandfire.co...) for this espresso.
You can also find a detailed description for this process on our blog: ironandfire.co...
Dialling in is a crucial step that allows you to adjust the grind size, dose, and extraction time to achieve the best flavour and crema from your coffee beans.
You need to dial in your Sage coffee machine every time you change the type of beans, as different roasts and origins will require different settings. However, if you use the same beans consistently, you may only need to do this whenever you notice a change in the taste or appearance of your espresso. As the beans age, you will want to take the grind a little finer.

Hello, what size do you have the internal burr set at? Thanks for answering 🙏🏻
I would have the same question
This video helped me set my machine up today, thanks very much for sharing
Followed this by the second, slight adjustment for my beans. Bosh!
Brilliantly straightforward
Thank you!
I have the exact same coffee and the same machine but getting a different result, what size do you have the internal burr set at? Is it still the default six?
brilliant,,had a sage for a few years and never been able to master it …until now …just reduced the grind time slightly as spliiled over ,but using the same coffee it now tastes tottaly different bringing out many different flavours ,,
Hi
May I ask what grind size your set at using on the barista pro internally ? As I have the same machine and would be interested in trying your Colombia Jazz coffee. Thanks
I would be interested to know this too?
Since he doesn't mention it in the video, I would say that he probably left it at factory settings.
Great vid showing the adjustments. Also the first one that doesnt program the shot but getting to the right time manually👍🏻
By the way, can it be that if you use beans older than a month that it’s pretty hard to get to this time no matter what? I’m using Starbucks Blonde Roast supermarket beans at the moment but keep getting a 20 sec shot.
Super useful video to the novice over here, can I ask where the 19g comes from? Is this just a standard number, or would it change with coffee bean?
the problem with this machine is that you always have 2-3 grams of coffee remains in the hopper with the previous grind size.
To be sure you have the correct picture you need to grind 2-3 grams with the new grind size (and waste it) before actually grinding your new dose with the new grind size.
I don't see SAGE engraved anymore, now I just see Brevielle. Panning to get 1 this thanksgiving
I think it’s the same machine, just a different name in different countries? The pro now comes with Baratza burrs but just check as some places might still have old stock. You can see straight away if you take the bowl off the top and count the flutes on the conical burr. The old ones had five and the Baratza burrs have six. I like the pro because of the quick start up time and sensor on the water level.
