I got this machine today and wish I watched this video first. I wasted so much coffee with the internal burr setting at 6, then 5, not going anywhere near far enough before jumping down to 3. Got there in the end!
Excellent video. We’ve been struggling with finding the right grind and didn’t realize we needed to adjust the internal burr grinder collar. Very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for making this video, got my Barista Pro today. It saved me a lot of time dialling in to somewhat near a good espresso. Just waiting for a better tamp to arrive it's a spring-loaded to 30lbs. Previously bought a Phillips latte go 5500 it was rubbish and returned it the same day. The Barista is a much better choice for a machine because all variations of coffee start with a single or double espresso, also having the freedom to buy other branded portafilters or accessories for the machine is great.

Nice video Tom. Watching brought me memories of my first time using the BBE about 4 years back. This new grinder seems like a great improvement. I was never a fan of the BBE grinder so bought a Niche Z and the experience was far superior. Remember that with time using the grinder and seasoned burrs the dialing will get better. Cheers!

It's what most people think, so that the burrs don't have to adjust with the load of coffee particles between them. Better to have them running, so the burrs don't have that static load is the theory. Cheers!
I use the razor to make sure the volume in the basket is right every time i open a new bag, then I weigh it and commit that to memory and put the razor back up till I open a new bag. I had a Breville barista pro on order from a shop and picked it up yesterday and it did in fact have the Baratza burrs. It's really easy to check in the shop by removing the lid and undoing the handle in the middle of the bowl 90 deg and you can easy see the conical burr in the hole and see if it's 5 or 6. I checked several machines on the stand in one shop and half had 5 and half had 6, so some shops will still have old stock. Note, I think only the pro model and above now have the six but I may be wrong on that.

Before I had the barista touch impress but was very difficult for me, and I decided to return it and change for the delongui…. Greetings from Spain! I like very much your channel.
Tom, Thanks for all your great content and tips. Can you recommend a super fully automatic machine that makes the best and warmest (hottest) coffee and espresso?
Do you recommend the sage barista pro or sage bambino with eureka mignon silenzio? I think the bambino is very similar to the barista pro but the integrated grinder is not as good as mignon. The price is pretty similar.
Will the temperature of the drinks be hot enough since this machine turns off so quickly compared to other Breville machines? That is the only concern I have about this machine. The auto shut-off should be after half an hour, like the Infuser and Express. I get that it has new technology to get up to temperature a lot quicker, but it seems like the drinks cool down pretty fast. Or did you not just preheat the other cup?
In my experience, this and all other Brevilles turn off after about 20 minutes, even the Dual Boiler. But it doesn't really matter with this one, since it doesn't warm up the brew group anyway. All the machines with the ThermoJet technology have the disadvantage, that they do not warm the brew group, and therefore the portafilter: Bambino Plus, Barista Pro, Touch, Touch Impress.
I have the same machine and tried matching the settings Tom was using but the grinding was quite a bit slower on mine. I grinded at a burr setting of 3 and fineness setting (or whatever that dial is called) of 6 and I only got 6 grams in 10 seconds of grinding. So curious why the difference? I also cleaned everything out before hand to clear out old grindings. One problem I have had often is when I try to go finer on the grind, the espresso barely drips out and doesn't extract at a normal rate, ends up wasting the grinds. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?
Need help to fix the sour espresso on this machine 😢 tried to play with the dose, extraction time, all looks good. Increased the temperature a little, but same sour taste.. cappuccino is good although
I am very confused about your 11 seconds grind time. I setup the machine exactly as you did with the bur setting at 3 and the machine setting at 6. To get to 16 grams I need to set the grind time to 24 seconds 😮

Why will you throw it at 12:26 ☹️ that coffee bean went through a long global supply chain! If it was a little coarse just use it in drip or Aeropress or something. #sustainableways
Why was there such a big difference in steam time between the first and second cup, from 51 seconds to just 30 seconds, less milk? I will probably "downgrade" from a nice e61 machine to this one, I'm tired of long warm-up times.
It gets faster at getting up to steam temperature, and also steaming, once you have already steamed once or twice. So I guess that the thermo block retains some heat. I agree with you on the E 61 by the way. I don’t have patience for those to warm up either.
Even though I have a Breville Bambino Plus, l still find all of your commissioning videos very helpful and informative. Your methods translate perfectly to most any combination of grinders and machines. Like you say “you just need to practice” Once again, thanks!
SOOOOO much better!!!! than the erectile dysfunction model dude Sage use in their 'instructional videos' that spends more time regurgitating spiritual garbage at me instead of doing his job actually instructing on how to's with the Sage Barista Pro. Tom, you are mostly well-spoken, relevant to subject matter, humourous at the rightest moments and your Instruction Video a clear mile more fruitful than that of Sage. Thank you Tom and you earned a fan for life with me :)
I've been using this machine for almost 3 weeks(Breville rather than "Sage"- black colour btw) and it says that I need to flush, so many attempts and changes..🥲 Now the issue is that my cleaning rubber basket has a hole in it, which what I've seen across the internet is not good at all- because it won't backflush properly and all of water would come out of the portafilter. I don't want to waste a cleaning tablet... should I wait until a rubber basket without a hole arrive or do it with the one that came with the machine? Use it every day;) (Heard that this basket belongs to "newer models" idk)
Good question. They seem to deliver these rubber discs with and without the hole, depending on the vintage. I guess it should work with the hole too, but probably not as well. I suppose it might have the advantage however of cleaning the basket and portafilter while it's at it. Cheers!
Hope this commissioning video helped you guys!

Why no pressure gauge?
Good question. I dont' know why they omit them on the machines with displays...
tom bro these machines are expensive do u profit from these kind vids or does the companies send it to you? i am asking because upload ALOT on espresso machines.
Well, I buy most of them, but sometimes I get loaners, like this one.
08:34 I Can confirm it's just tight at the beginning
Your videos just making want to go and making the coffee
Even though I have a Breville Bambino Plus, l still find all of your commissioning videos very helpful and informative. Your methods translate perfectly to most any combination of grinders and machines. Like you say “you just need to practice” Once again, thanks!
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Looks like third shift in the Midwest. Pairs up pretty well with your german schedule l o l
#BaristaPro excelent video, thank you Tom
Very Niceee!!!
thanks nice teatch
"You don't have to be so a*** every single time you do this obviously" 😂
After this demo, it is no wonder why people go with the super automatics!
It's more work with a semi-automatic, but I enjoy the process.
Thanks for your encouragement!
#BaristaPro Thank you for this review ❤
I’m not getting a good feeling with this machine. Specially with the grinder
Why not?

#baristapro 😉
All of that fuss just to make a cup of coffee??? I'm returning the machine!!!!.... ufff...
@@mexicolindo5411 Sorry to hear that!
I appreciate what you do for us..
thanks so much tom..🤍🌹
I've been using this machine for almost 3 weeks(Breville rather than "Sage"- black colour btw) and it says that I need to flush, so many attempts and changes..🥲
Now the issue is that my cleaning rubber basket has a hole in it, which what I've seen across the internet is not good at all- because it won't backflush properly and all of water would come out of the portafilter. I don't want to waste a cleaning tablet... should I wait until a rubber basket without a hole arrive or do it with the one that came with the machine? Use it every day;)
(Heard that this basket belongs to "newer models" idk)
Good question. They seem to deliver these rubber discs with and without the hole, depending on the vintage. I guess it should work with the hole too, but probably not as well. I suppose it might have the advantage however of cleaning the basket and portafilter while it's at it. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner wow thank you so much:)
How to often do I need to descale the machine?
