From experience: I think the one of the reasons the kids don't respect you guys as coaches is because you guys yell over each other. One coach had the floor to give directions then another coach started screaming over her trying to talk to someone else like what she's saying isn't important or it couldn't wait. If there's no cohesion within the authorities, you'll definitely see that same result within the team. There's also not a lot of discipline, but I won't go into that rn.
Coach black was ready to jump in that ending dance lol also all of their choreography is really good and very creative especially the youngest team the concept of having them tumble in a box type formation is so good
Maybe it's the teacher in me but I disagree somewhat with some of the comments. Talking and "busy bodies" at a practice like this is to be expected. I think the coaching could be better. When my class gets into a bigger group setting I give them a little more leeway because it's just the excitement getting to them. However, they know the limits. If I have to reel them in I have no problems, regardless of what anyone else is doing(most of the time a classmate will address a "behavior" before I even have to). Those expectations/rules/procedures/ classroom culture was the very first thing I implemented, and I stayed consistent. It's the most important thing behind safety. You can't really accomplish anything without structure. Kids will live up to your expectations 9/10 if you are treating and teaching them the right way. I've coached and given music lessons as well, and those principles still apply.
Not disagreeing with you but she is a Mom and I'm sure like my mom does she probably gets on her baby all the time about learning how to relax and pay attention. Again I'm not disagreeing with you nor am I condoning her hitting her child ... im just saying I understand 😭

True, most of the kids do not listening or following directions. If it's 1 or 2 of them...it's a kid problem, if it's most of them...it's a coach problem! It looks like none of the coaches really have an efficient way of running their team. The yelling isn't it! For one they waste a lot of time talking amongst themselves and/or figuring things out. Then all of a sudden when the coach is ready to move on they get mad because the kids are talking. Of course the kids are going to start talking! They only have but so much of an attention span. When they are ready they need to get the kids attention the right way(Coach Black's count down is good but there is no consequence for not being ready when she gets to 0. So what's the point?). But YOU also need to be ready! You can't tell a typical seven year-old to get set, then you start talking and doing whatever for 2 minutes, and turn around and expect them to still be standing at attention. Also, when consequences are given out they are given out inconsistently. Maybe the coaches would benefit from some additional professional development training.
I'm not really feeling the coach in all black she got way to much attitude like I hope that's not the coach for them little babies. God help us all. This practice was a mess.
One thing I will never understand is why parents think it’s acceptable to put hands on their children... communicate with them, there’s no need to smack. But this was a whole mess 😬

@YSN Sam race has nothing to do with smacking your kids. I still got disciplined when I was younger, my mother used to smack me. I have my own daughter now and realised that is the WRONG way to go about things. You say kids forget what you say, but learn how to communicate with your kids effectively, use words you know they will be able to take in more than others. I don’t agree with hitting your children, that’s my opinion. You have yours and I’ll have mine.
