I'd like to correct one thing. Mumbo does watch tutorials from other redstoners. He's humble enough to recognize there are other people who are even better than him at redstone, and that the community at large can sometimes come up with better designs than he could (even though he could indeed design his own if he wanted to) However he often only uses other people's redstone as a basis for his own ideas, altering them or incorporating them into larger redstone contraptions to make his own thing.

9:51 No, chests aren’t moveable. That is basalt, you can make basalt out of Lava. If lava touches both a Soul Sand block and ice blocks (in this case packed ice) it will create basalt. This bridge through the lava is being constructed out of lava essentially. No duping involved here. What is happening is there is the big flying machine you see above the lava with a few ice blocks one block above the lava. Then another portion of the flying machine is one block below the lava with soul sand. As they move (both above and below) a lava source block gets converted to a basalt block. As the machine moves along it then moves the converted basalt blocks in to a specific pattern… based on how you setup the redstone flying machine.
SciCraft is literally insane on how they break the game. You guys need to check them out it is literally insane how they build half the stuff they do and it hurts my brain just watching their videos.
9:28 I had a stroke here lol Mumbo doesn't have a chest or anything in the machine, the 'basalt' or the main component that makes up the tunnel comes from the lava(if a soul sand block is under a lava source block and then ice were placed at the top of the lava it would turn the lava in-between the ice and soul sand into basalt). The machine that Mumbo made in that video basically creates a long, flat surface of basalt with the ice blocks that are attached to the bottom, and then the rest of the machine is cleverly designed to lift the individual basalt blocks up and out of the lava and carve it into a tunnel. In other words, Mumbo is a 24/7 redstone tryhard.

If Scar is this good at building on hardcore, then how better is he on normal survival Minecraft?
Oh I remember that self-building nether bridge video! He made it because, literally, Minecraft came out with a brand-new feature where you could turn lava into that type of stone with a certain type of ice and he thought "Hm. That has some really cool nether bridge possibilities, let's see if I can make one."
best thing about Mumbo is not just that he is great at redstone, but put him together with Grian, Iskall or Scar, or all of them and it is instant comedy, talented AND funny
You guys need to see the redstone from Sahara in Hermitcraft S6. Mumbo and Iskall just did the impossible. An actual working amazon store with shulkerbox delivery system.
Putting a block of ice over lava turns the lava into basalt, which he can then pull up using one-tick sticky pistons and push into place using normal pistons. If you like awesome builds, I strongly recommend looking at Grian. He made that grey-green mansion not too far away from Mumbo's temple base in HC S7. Grian is also worth looking at because he almost instantly became a driver of social conflict on the hermitcraft server, adding loads to the 'story' aspect each season...
btw, with the basalt bridge, the way that it works is when ice touches lava in the nether, the lava turns to basalt (there's a specific order, I don't know it well). Basically he's turning the lava into basalt and moving it into place
the actual use for slimeblocks is that they stick to other blocks, so if you put them against something and push the slimeblock other blocks get pushed too and the bridge builder worked because if you have blue ice touch lava while soulsand is underneath it makes basalt
22:59 Hermitcraft has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to high quality redstoners. His tanks would do great until Tango, Impuld, Xisuma, and Doc responded. And, of course, BDubs, the man who probably taught them all.
When ice touches lava it makes basalt, just like water touching a lava source block makes stone & lava touching running water makes cobblestone. So he's generating the blocks/bridge that way.
The Hermits also have personal creative worlds to pre-design their mega builds they also have client side mods so they know what blocks they have to gather
Slime blocks and honey blocks are almost the same thing, the reason Mumbo was using slime blocks for the walking house build is so that other blocks stick to the slime blocks, thus when you use a piston to push one slimeblock all other blocks that can be moved by a piston that are also touching the slime block are moved as well. A honey block has the same property, with the one exception, slime blocks and honey blocks do NOT stick together. A piston can move up to 12 total blocks at once, so that is also why you see so many smaller connections of slime blocks + other blocks + pistons. An observer emits a redstone pulse when there is a block update on the side of the observer that looks like a face. A block update can be anything like breaking/placing a block, opening a chest, pressing a button, opening/closing a gate, or in the case of the tank you see mumbo use flint and steel to ignite a fire that triggers the observers. So Mumbo is using the observer to power the pistons through the slime blocks to cause the structures to move.
The funny thing is, when he says that he is not much of a build (although that's getting in the past now), it's because then there are people like Grain and Scar, who just go insane. And then there's Scicraft, which is the biggest technical Minecraft servers, who do insane redstone builds that sometimes even Mumbo can't comprehend, and the great thing is that many of the members were inspired by Mumbo. He's becoming kind of like an all-rounder collecting the infinity stones of Minecraft. He needs to sort his pvp game now xd
He's using a generator! There are ones for cobble, stone, and basalt. By placing ice against lava, it makes bassalt. Then the pistons pull and push the basalt into place to create the tunnel.
Just incase you didn't notice while reading the comments, lol... you should check out the sci-craft server... Mumbo did a tour of it and it was absolutely crazy. Definitely one of the most respected group of people in Minecraft community.
New players reacting to wild things that have become normal to me really puts into perspective how wild this games progression has gotten over the years 😂
hey there. So like, putting the 1.13 blue ice near lava can turn the lava into Basalt. Like how cobblestone generators work (if you've even heard of cobblestone generators)! But anyway, given what I've heard about Docm77, he seems more likely to take over hermitcraft than mumbo.
On the front of the bridge builder there is a lie of packed ice blocks, when packed ice makes contact with a lava source block, it turns it into the block he was using. If water touches a lava source block it turns it into obsidian, and if water touches a lava stream it turns it into a block of cobblestone.
If you haven't, Docm77 and his Hivemind/SciCraft friends have come up with some absolutely bonkers stuff. They're like, bugfinders for minecraft, but with the really finicky stuff. So like, go watch stuff from season 8, with the Octagon (it also features Rendog, who is another hermitcraft member). Mumbo has never the supervillain type. I think if he snapped, there would be extremely unique and irritating contraptions in everyone's bases. Docm77 on the other hand...him and his team have had to dial it back in the past as to not destroy the server from deep within it's code. Super nice guy, happy to play opposite to Grian's shenanigans
Definitely recommend reacting to docm77 when you have the chance. While Mumbo and the other make cool redstone things that work as intended, Doc literally breaks the game.
He is not the only God of redstone, two more hermits, etho and I believe tango are up there with him on par, they are on a league of their own in the entire Minecraft community with I believe just a certain group of redstoners that comprehend every game mechanics being above them. And the storage system that sorts itself was invented by etho
Slime sticks to other blocks so if you push a block with a piston and it has slime on it the slime will stick to it and vis versa. Honey blocks are similar just with players and mobs and some other things.
Yeah hermitcraft blew up ALOT just from Grian joining, he brought a lot of new viewers but also brought alot of exciting new ideas and involvement. Grian definitely had a massive impact on hermitcraft and feels like he gave all the hermits a breath of lfie and now it just gets better and better from everyone on the server
When he says hes bad at building he means things that look pretty and his techniques gor design, doing redstone and building things that look nice are 2 vary VARY different skills
Your forgetting there is a difference between them. Mumbo as far as I know is more of a soloist redstoner vs docm77 is more of a Hivemind redstoner. I'm not saying Mumbo never gets help or that Docm77 never does redstone on his own, but there clearly is a difference in how they both do redstone and they both deserve props for what they do. But IMHO neither is better or worse than the other, they just work differently and do it well.

its not duping blocks, the duping of tnt works because its an entity, this is simply conversion of lava with ice into basalt
"Hes gonna rule hermitcraft with an iron fist" oh boy wait till you meet doc
Mumbo has never the supervillain type. I think if he snapped, there would be extremely unique and irritating contraptions in everyone's bases. Docm77 on the other hand...him and his team have had to dial it back in the past as to not destroy the server from deep within it's code. Super nice guy, happy to play opposite to Grian's shenanigans
Definitely recommend reacting to docm77 when you have the chance. While Mumbo and the other make cool redstone things that work as intended, Doc literally breaks the game.
Ngl the minecraft reactions are the best because u dont now what is happening
He is not the only God of redstone, two more hermits, etho and I believe tango are up there with him on par, they are on a league of their own in the entire Minecraft community with I believe just a certain group of redstoners that comprehend every game mechanics being above them.
And the storage system that sorts itself was invented by etho
You know its a good day with a video from GeminiTay!
we need a revist of this for season 9 !!!!!
How to get drunk: take a drink every time the term "deadass" is said.
Everything in minecraft starts with a one block center and circles are the first builder block.
the demon slayer thing is so spot on lol i died!
Yall need to react to ilmango’s scicraft showcase, that whole server is crazy
All I know is slime blocks stick to most blocks. Honey blocks stick to most blocks. But Slime Blocks and Honey Blocks don't stick to each other.
You guys missed the batman door in the waterfall on the season 8 base into his storage system in the middle :)
Slime sticks to other blocks so if you push a block with a piston and it has slime on it the slime will stick to it and vis versa. Honey blocks are similar just with players and mobs and some other things.
you need to react to sci craft they take the game to the max, even when mumbo was invited to check out sci craft he was amazed
The final door was fence gates with maps filled out white on them
When he says hes bad at building he means things that look pretty and his techniques gor design, doing redstone and building things that look nice are 2 vary VARY different skills
You should react to the largest spaceship ever made in Minecraft
Mumbo might get people into Redstone but Docm77 and ilmango are the gods of Redstone.
Theyve now experienced "normal" redstone, let's see them react to Doc now, lol
NO BUT ACTUALLY THIS. MUMBO IS T A M E COMPARED TO DOC
"he will rule hermitcraft with an iron fist"
Docm77: ???
You should react to Shulkercraft and some of their survival builds next! They are insane
I MISS MUMBO
Bet you may like Doc77. He makes lots of cool Redstone things.
He not only makes cool redstone things, he breaks the game. Unlimited items and rockets for example.
Insane.
Forget the tanks. He'll unleash the ocean builder and the world eater (yes he's made those)
