If I had to guess they needed to redo the sounds for any surround sound Dolby support. Might have been difficult to get the exact sounds from the original or they just got lazy and just used what they had.

But, after Alberto is killed, the rest are either OK (Manny’s death, Gina’s death, Nick & Chi-Chi’s kills) or very bad (SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!). Thankfully, though, on said Blu-ray (Limited Edition comes to mind), you can turn off the DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 files, & just revert right back to the DTS 2.0 theatrical audio tracks. Just leave them as products of their time, ya know?

Look at these clowns getting blown apart by Montana's "Little Freng" when they could have just made a left onto Montana Drive, stopped at The "Montana Cabana" and had a few drinks! But no, they'd rather die in Montanas palatial "Gaslight Era Bordello!"
