Oh, Vangelis was called Evangelos! Interesting... Vangelis, or shorter version Vangel is a name that is very often on those parts. Evangelos comes from Evangelion, a gospel in Greek, or Evangelie, the same in many South and East Slavic languages.

Absolutely marvellous. I watched the movie in 1981 when I was a young boy, now I am 62, and I will never, ever, forget the beauty of all the soundtrack. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain." RIP Vangelis!

The movie was released June 25, 1982. So, either you were watching the director's dailies, or you misremember.
indeed, I'd have told him "welcome to life's joys & pains replicant.... cant have 1 without the other.... wanna live forever? then be a rock next time..." Tho in reality nothing ever stops existing according to physics, so in 1 way or another everything 'exists' forever....
then again... to live almost infinitely you simply have to access & recode your genes, ie code them to repair/replace themselves 'ad infinitum'.
I'm 55 and I've always thought of this as a perfect movie that I come back to all the time. It has all the obvious strengths but then there's that certain something that is hard to put your finger on but it's like the movie gods waved a magic wand over it and magic happened. This movie will stay with me forever. It's more than a movie to me.
Blade Runner wouldn't have been the same great movie without Vangelis and his wonderful soundtrack. Very nice tribute.

I would agree, except to say that if not for any ‘one’ of the many parts continuously collaborating to create this masterpiece, Blade Runner certainly would not be the now-time-honored work of true cinematic art that it is.
The stars were in alignment for this - my favorite, movie.

"The rain keeps falling, a steady drizzle that washes away the grime of the city streets, leaving them slick and shining. I find myself walking these streets alone, surrounded by the neon lights that flicker and dance in the darkness. The people around me seem distant and cold, like automatons going through the motions of their daily lives. In this world of artificiality, it's easy to feel disconnected, as if I'm the only real person left in this world. As I walk, I can't help but feel a sense of isolation that's almost overwhelming. The streets are empty, the buildings silent, and the rain seems to muffle even the sound of my own footsteps. It's like I'm in a dream, or maybe a nightmare, where the only reality is the sense of loneliness that permeates every corner of this city. But even in this isolation, I can still feel the pulse of life within me. I can still feel the beating of my own heart, a reminder that I'm still alive in this world of machines. And maybe, just maybe, there's still a chance for me to connect with someone, to find that human connection that's been lost.
So I keep on walking, through the rain and the darkness, searching for something that I know may never be found. But even in this hopeless pursuit, there's a glimmer of hope, a faint spark that keeps me going. It's the hope that someday, somewhere, I'll find someone who understands what it means to be truly human, to feel and to love in a world that's lost its way. So I keep walking, my footsteps echoing through empty streets. The rain has stopped, but the air is still heavy with the scent of wet concrete and the sound of distant thunder. For a moment, I pause, gazing up at the sky, searching for some sign of hope.
Lost in my own thoughts, the city continues to unfold before me. The lights overhead seem to blur together into a single, pulsing mass, casting strange on the buildings. I wonder if anyone else is out here, walking these empty streets, lost in their own thoughts and feelings of loneliness.
The rain starts up again, a soft and gentle patter that seems to match the rhythm of my footsteps. I pull my coat tighter around me, trying to ward off the chill that's crept into my bones. And as I keep on walking, the rain intensifies, drenching me and the city in a downpour that seems to come from all directions. I consider taking shelter in one of the nearby buildings, but the thought of being trapped indoors with my own thoughts is too much to bear. Instead, I keep walking, my feet splashing through puddles as the rain pounds down on me. Then, I suddenly catch sight of a small restaurant tucked away in a corner of the street. The sign reads 'Sakura', and something about the warm glow emanating from the windows and the aroma of Japanese cuisine wafting towards me draws me in. I push open the door and step inside, welcomed by the sound of sizzling tempura, the smell of cooking food, which fills my nostrils, and a sense of comfort. I take a seat at the counter, watching as the chef prepares my food with care and attention to detail. For a moment, I forget the loneliness and isolation of the city outside, lost in the simple pleasure of a warm meal.
As I eat, I let my thoughts drift, pondering the meaning of my lonely existence in this world of machines. But for a brief moment, in this small restaurant, surrounded by strangers and the comforting sound of rain, I feel a connection to something greater than myself. And as I finish my meal and step back out into the rain, I carry that feeling with me."

In this scene - Rachel at Deckard's piano - Sean Young looks as fine and lovely as a woman can possibly appear. Her dark eyes and the symmetry of her perfect features are overwhelming, too much beauty to be encompassed in one gaze, sparsely lit yet blinding.

Not only beautiful but she was decades ahead of her time...outspoken, independent and courageous, unfortunately for her the hollywood establishment couldn't live with her and she (and we) was robbed of what could have been one of the greatest movie star careers...

Rip 🙏 vangles your insramental brought a lot of meaning in my life after I loss my mother march,20 2000 and now in the next couple of days we're coming up on the anniversary of my mother's passing March, 20 2023 23 years later um 45 years old I was 22 years old when my mother died and I haven't come to make my peace with it I stay mad angry for a long time untill I started listening to your insramentals from blade runner 1982 I love that movie 🎬 thank u

First watched Blade Runner as a kid when it first came out but now I fell in love with it all over again and with the fabulous music by Vangelis. Ohhh man you got that tone just perfectly. I've had no idea he passed away . He was one of the greatest. The Blade Runner album is one of his best work . The Love theme is my favourite from this ablum .That saxophone part gets me every time 😌. Great Job 🙂😎. Now i listen to this almost every day and it's just instantly calms me down and thinking about : just hope one day everybody will found their own Rachel.

Thank you for paying your respects to my compatriot Vangelis. The legend... I still remember the day he passed away. It was all over the news here in Greece.
This is the song that made me find your channel some days ago and I have been hooked to your work since. Once again you remade this one giving a unique touch which sounds very well made.
I happen to be going through a breakup this past month and I'm also in need of some drastic changes in my life right now which further up my anxiety, and your creations have helped me relax so much this past week. I slept with them. I enjoyed calm nights with them, and I even listened to them last evening on the beach before a new date I had. Thank you!

Fantastic. Always loved this song and film. For almost 20 years after the movie came out, there was the one version of this soundtrack before the Vangelis version was released on CD unless you were able to get one of those bootlegs (which I was never able to find as it was really hard pre(or early)-internet). Just came across this channel and a couple others with BR inspired thematic music.
Heartfelt rendition. I am listening to some parts of it over and over again as I get melancholic staring at the picture.

very interesting scene to see, music is nice and calm, city is sleeping along with its citizens, everything is silent, cold and dark...only rain keeps dancing and cheerfully sliding across the windows, roofs, lost shoes and forgotten memories...as rain keeps falling memories rise again like fallen knights on an ancient battlefield...memories come back to us, step by step, because when its raining for too long we have nothing else to turn to...

The sax element, although I assume electronic, flows like silky caramel. Reminiscent of the actual sax played on Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" from 1978 (I think). Makes the hair on the back of your neck tingle!!👌👌😎😎🤘🤘

I had to stop for a sleep having driven hours around the Scottish Higglands, put Blade runner theme music on ,, woke up some time later just as the light was fading ,heavy rain pouring down , the mountains were topped with white mist and I heard this beautiful piece playing,, still dreaming ,for a minute I was driving away in the car at the end of the movie , what a shame Racheal wasn't sitting next to me, ,, we can dream right, thank you for this heavenly masterpiece.x
