Women of Hollywood back then had no control of their careers. Imagine being told to have an a abortion or lose your career. Reality is how far have really come from that. We haven't...........how great feminism really has been. Now instead of being home taking care of our husbands and families we now do all of that and work and try to be educated.
Hollywood players were considered "properties" by the studios, and ruthlessly exploited. The old studio system produced some fabulous films and fabulous beautiful stars, but at a bitter cost to the players.

Thank you. They could have walked away, but they chose not to----you're correct. They valued their film career, money, and contracts more than the inconvenient reality of a pregnancy.
@@FlexibleFlyer50you do realize it wasn’t just that they’d loose their careers. They would also be sued for breach of contract and loose everything they worked hard to obtain. Where would they go with their illegitimate child, when they lost everything? Welfare wasn’t a thing back then and nobody would have been seen with a woman of ill repute. The truth is, anyone who went to the movies helped fuel the continued abuse of the film industry. When someone stands up and we unite, then things change. Otherwise it’s no better than pointing fingers and blaming others.
@@rebeccamd7903 Glad that in the movie THE MUSIC MAN - singer/actress Shirley Jones was 8 months pregnant during the bridge scene and no one knew about it due to great costuming.

Too bad they didn't do a biopic of Jean Harlow in the 1970s because I think Sally Struthers would have been a great choice. She looked just like her.

I always thought that the actress Marcia Gay Harden, ( with her hair dyed blonde)
would look a lot like Jean Harlow, especially in the 1970's!

No one forces you to have an abortion. It’s a choice. These women chose fame and money
