Tom, thank you, your very transparent. Don't be a professor at a school please, that might hurt you lol, just kidding sir.
Blue Ocean is one of the books we had to read in our MBA program. Very, very, very effective strategy.
This may sound counter intuitive, but another book to marry Blue Ocean to is Joan Magretta, "Understanding Michael Porter." This book will help entrepreneurs understand that there is still competition, no matter where you go. Which means you need to understand the reason why competing for profits is important.
That Yellow Tail example is in Blue Ocean, totally understood it then, but definitely a great re-reminder, like Patrick says, to help understand.
Thanks again, Tom

You are my next Senpai 0_0. It wass a brilliant walkthrough that was elaborated in such a simplistic way that even peter griffin can understand. This will stay in my notes for me to practice and perfect my own execution in business.
Its simply a very good information...
Really good job ! I love these cases
+Caner Öztürk I appreciate the comment - Tom
Go Australia! I think this is a great video to point out that your customers don't really know or care about all the nitty gritty stuff behind the industry. I'm like this with my dance studio. I make it accessible to the average consumer, all they want to do is dance not get caught up in the technical mumbo jumbo
thanks for these case studies. very nice to watch, I hope to implement these lessons in my future. Im looking forward to the videos getting polished till dthey become the ideal video. if I can make a suggestion: more visuals. I'm a visual guy and this video is a lot better than some of the others than have less pictures/ visualizations.
+silver2zilver - thank you for that I appreciate it that helps us make things better. - Tom

+CQBad1 what angle from that company would you like to see examined? - Tom
I would really love to see examined how Ray Kroc created the biggest franchise of all. How he managed to turn the hamburger selling business into the franchise that anyone wants to buy. How he created the franchise prototype.
Thank you
I would really love to see examined how Ray Kroc created the biggest franchise of all. How he managed to turn the hamburger selling business into the franchise that anyone wants to buy. How he created the franchise prototype.

Fantastic. I'm a subscriber
How do i just get case study on my feed? I m getting a lot of posts from the other guy but I want to subscribed to case study only...
Another great one! Was debating to pick up blue ocean strategy though I will now! Might pick up a few lessons worth applying to a new venture I am on!
Thanks Tom-
+Charles Osterlund - I agree. That book will be on your shelf for a long long time. - Tom
I really appreciate the case studies. Hopefully you stick around a while, Tom.
It's surprising how many views you get, case studies aren't as feel-good sexy as some of the other topics. From what I've seen in other channels, this kind of content would have dramatically lower numbers. (Assuming my intuition is right.) It speaks both about the type of viewer Valuetainment attracts, and Tom's ability to hold interest.
+FDJustin - you have no idea how much I appreciate that comment. We tried very hard to do exactly what you said. We want to be the best content on the Internet for entrepreneurs. Not just the content, but the way we teach. - Tom
see you tomorrow Tom !!
Yes you indeed left me better than you found me. Great video!
+Martynas Dainys - thank you for that, that is my goal. - Tom

I believe these case studies will be a key factor to your 1 million subs goal in 2017.
I also believe you guys will be able to get there!
+Aaron Neuville - thank you for that. Glad to be part of the journey to 1 million - Tom
1. Know your target customer 2. Focus 3. Be smart (trust the numbers and the research)
thanks great video
+Omar Vazquez Thank YOU - Tom
Yup I love the cast studies. Yup superb. Thank a lot.
+Aye Min Oo - you are welcome - Tom
Did you make a video on procrastination. I am in high school and watch your videos. The biggest problem I face is procrastination. I see a RUclips video and I tell myself "just 1 more. Just one more". Sometime I procrastinate on my work by binging your informative videos. Can you please make a video, or link me to a video on how to work more productively? Thanks
I love how you make buying wine in a wine store seem difficult, saying that "do I have to go to school before I can go to a wine store and actually buy something?" but then you make suggestions of which wines people should buy and in which occasions! "When it's time for your anniversary buy the Champagne and buy the good stuff" What is the good stuff? Weren't you saying the "stuff" at Costco is the good stuff? My suggestion is you should buy wine in a wine store and feel relaxed doing it because the knowledgeable staff of the wine store DID GO TO SCHOOL to learn about wine so that they can help recommend a wine to you. A wine for any occasion, be it hanging out with friends or be it your anniversary. Nobody assists you in choosing a wine in Costco. Since Yellowtail was introduced into the US market, there are tons of affordable wines from Spain, from Chile and from Australia and Costco is very exhaustive in which wines make it into their stores and I would agree that good deals are to be had at Costco, but I have never had anyone recommend anything to me at Costco and if they did, I doubt that I would trust their opinion. I liked your video. Please understand that this is a constructive comment. Wine stores and all independent retail need our support in this RED OCEAN because companies like Costco, Amazon and Target don't play fairly and part of their company philosophy is to dump prices to destroy the competition. One other constructive comment, you have a lot of subscribers and views, why wear the Formula 1 shirts? Why not wear your own branded polo or shirt with your brand or website?
Gotta say a huge fan of their Chardonnay
hi Tom, kindly make a case study on Amway, I really appreaciate you works, Im starting a business soon, been preparing for it for the last two years, thank you.
Thanks again Tom, I've been looking at university and study options about getting into Marketing, I'm still on the fence but it's good information to support my thoughts around it. I'll check out Blue Ocean too
+Combat Goose - good to hear from you again. I appreciate the comment. I hope we're helping you to reach your decision. - Tom
I really enjoy these Case Studies, thank you. Your real-life points about collaboration and simple straight forward marketing is so powerful - clever and so so smart. A great lesson for those of us who tend to make things more complicated than necessary. Your NASCAR-inspired shirts are interesting but you are amazing, thank you for these lessons as they are so valuable to me as I try to find the right formula to success. Have a great weekend.
Woops, I might have insulted you with the NASCAR comment. I should have said Formula 1 or Grand Prix or whatever that crazy racing is that you like. Ha ha.
+Hickory Homes - thank you very much I really appreciate that comment. What I want to leave you better than I found you. - Tom
+Hickory Homes - I am not offended at all. I'm very happy that you took the time to leave a comment. The shirts are from the F1, I am a big fan. - Tom
Another fantastic case study, l like it but if you include some pictures it would be very nice, tq, Tom
+karttick rajan I think that is a good idea, thank you for commenting - Tom
Hey Tom that's great video.... just few hours back me n one of my friend talking about join venture service business as market is down at the moment here.... coming out with new idea for service industry... hope for best.... planning for 2017 as Mr. Pat show the way in his last video... great stuffs... Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
+Whiz Tek - good luck with your decision. Sometimes you find a partner and the skills are perfect for each other and you get a little lucky but you can go do something big. - Tom
VALUETAINMENT Thanks 🙏🏻
As an somewhat relevant side note, Yellowtail was definitely a beneficiary of the recession, although their sales blew up before, their brand was solidified by being just a step above cheap stuff in times of economic hardship and yellowtail became the Go to product when people only had $10 and not $20-$30 like before but still wanted a glass. I definitely felt that working at a liquor store during that time, yellowtail shined super hard in times of famine
I don't recall the wine market in 2001, but today there's a lot of variety in wine at the 7 to 10 USD range. Are you saying back in 2001 there were none and all the variety that exists today is because of Yellow Tail?
Read Blue ocean strategy, Yellow Tail changed the entire industry of wine.
Now I see why there is usually yellow tail at my grandmas on certain Sundays.
+Thomas Burgess - because she just wants a nice bottle of wine when you come over to see her. And yellowtail does it perfectly. - Tom
could you make an episode about real social dynamics rsd?
Tom, where do you get those shirts with all the logos you always wear? They're awesome! :)
+Adrian Bardan - hi Adrian, I'm a big formula 1 fan and I get some of them from team members and others I find on my own. You see a great diversity of the shirts every Friday when I do case studies. - Tom
This Guy always does Great case studies if only he would do a case study on Tapatio Hot sauce or any known hot sauce out there like cholula or tabasco would be awesome
Great case study...Mr.TOM,But when you are going to do case study for MySpace
+vignesh warar - that's a great idea and I'm gonna put it on the list. - Tom
As a new entrepreneur it would be great to see a video from your organization that teaches us how to gain capital for our business.
+Cameron Perry - Great idea and it is on my list!
I always like the yellowtail red wine Pinot noir
I love these case studies. Will they become thing they do every friday or are they just temporary?
+Nerd 20 - we will see you every Friday with a new one. - Tom
Hey Pat
When will you make another "high" production video such as you vs you.

Jeff

I celebrated last Chinese New Year with my parents and a bottle of yellow tale. wonderful 🙌

+UNASHAMEDIMAGING good luck sorting it out. Go big in 2017. - Tom
Could you guys possibly make a video/case study about small business money management? I'm in my first year of business.
+Enoch Escalera - I think there are some good examples out there. What angle of money management would you like to hear about? - Tom
Bills. Taxes. How to build Capital. I'm really in need of some lessons. Furthermore, do you have any books you could recommend? Thanks!
Excellent presentation this case study should have a sub heading titled Match Made in Heaven.
+STIKKAR - Great,! I agree with you. - Tom
French wine is the best
Love from Paris
+Dogan Ulusoy - I confess to being a Bordeaux fanatic with a special affinity for the Pomerol region. But I have to disagree - there are many best wines all around the world and each reason has it's stars.
Read The Strategy Book Called - Blue Occean It Explains it very well, Beautiful content keeping going
case study of the blue market strategy book, pretty much?
+MisterAadj - I think there's a little more than that in there. I appreciate your comment. - Tom
i would love to watch a case study on Kodak
+Bhim Raj Poudel I will put that on my list, thanks - Tom
ayy this is in blue ocean strategy
I like yellow tail. 😁
Take a drink every time he says wine.
I think of France, Spain, Italy, when I think of wine. I did not know USA did any wine. Probably because I am in EU.
Can you do one on how toys r us failed to keep up in today’s market?
Great video, the next video shoud be, "how fedEX is killing DHL" ..!!!
+Billy Grc - that is a great idea. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a note. - Tom
blue ocean strategy
I'd love a case study about Festo, these guys are more in the 'Classical' business area, but their constant search for innovation is making Apple engineers looks like fools, and imo, that's the most important part in a business nowadays, take the right people, and create innovation over and over at the fastest pace you can, and the way Festo is doing it is unmatched yet.
+Jérémie Nicolas - very interesting. Do you know anyone at Festo? - Tom
Unfortunately I don't, shouldn't be so hard to find a contact there tho.
yellow tail case study
know your target customer dont focus on competion appeal to customer
be smart trust the numbers
use errc to make competition irrelevant
Did they have to have distributors capable of creating/shipping millions of wines at year 1 knowing that if it exploded in 4 years they would be prepared???
