Nah that’s an insult to any rapper that works this hard to have this flow for 5 minutes straight over a beat that’s a 4-bar sample looped with no hook. It takes effort to make it sound effortless, and he killed it. That said, he released this right before the summer when we’d all been waiting on his next album for years, so the stakes were high and this song is basically all about that. And Cole made sure we knew he still had it in him to deliver.
@@Mac2095really it’s like 4 -3:30 minutes but yea between letting the beat ride the intro beat just playing and then just having that little hook i needa let it go cause nothing even matters etc him really rapping wasn’t that long and even though it was a dope song he wasn’t really saying to much just freestyling his thoughts which was dope but there were no crazy rhyme schemes etc he rhymes now with now alot etc but I love cole he’s amazing I think what makes him great is his genuine nature and essence it feels like you know him when he’s rapping it’s a rare trait pac had it also
"If my next album flop, it's back to the post office, both of us, shit..They sayin it's a real possibility.. The thought alone is killin me, I think I need to let it go!"That shit speaks to me every time I hear it
takes me back to the summer of 2013, 19 year old buck I was, 25 now and still trying to figure my self out. life's tough, gets rough. hang on, for the remaining time we all have left.
i know a artist that actual saw what the struggle was like and he raps about it h actually learn from mistakes other artist only rap about money booty nd girls
This is why I like Cole more than kdot. His lyrics tell stories and put you in his place. No need to sit and decipher what he tells you like kdot does sometimes. Cole makes you wana sit back and chill, I feel the soul soul he puts into this
fair enough. Tho Kdot's complex lyrics that take dcyphering is why i see him as the better lyracist. Love Cole's simplistic approach easier to relate to
Cool story, but why do people always have to tear someone down when lifting someone else up? They're both extremely talented and most rappers have no chance of doing what they can do. There was no reason for you to mention kendrick while giving Cole props.
The Great One To be fair, he wasn't really tearing Kendrick down at all. Seemed more like a relatively harmless comparison between two artists he respects. He never disparaged Kendrick. All he really said was that Kendrick's meanings are more obscure and esoteric, whereas Cole takes a more accessible approach to his lyrics. Perfectly reasonable statement, to be honest.
Yung Zoink If kendrick was featured or mentioned in this song I would agree with you, but he pulled that one out of his ass. Kendrick wasn't even in the song but he found a way to bring him up and not to complement him. Pointless comparison.
"Puffin' on swishers, what's up Milan? Everytime I drop I get the net poppin' like Lebron swishes" I lose it everytime I hear this line. He's so damn smooth
The thing i like about this track is his flow. Its so calm, yet sophisticated it seems as if he just having a conversation with the listener. One of cole's greatest pieces, no doubt.
Man I was a senior in high school bumping this shit in awe. Then he dropped the masterpiece that was Born Sinner. Still in awe 10 years later. Smoothest shit ever. Love Cole forever
JCole’s songs are so crazy. He doesn’t have as big hits as other superstars like Drake or KDot, but he tells everyone’s stories in his different songs so everyone relates to him
"And I finally put my mama in that E-Class nigga. And I told quit her job but hold your horses cuz if my next album flop its back to the post office both of us." Classic Cole. Tellin it how it is.
"Ms. Hill please don't sue me. Cause I ain't one of these rappers out here frontin' like he got it, nigga. I ain't fuckin' got it, nigga..." Word. Cole the illest.
+dalaimama the build up to that line is even better "The sample yelling Lube me!" - the Lauryn Hill sample is just too enticing for him to spit over it
My favorite Cole song ever. I've been listening to Cole since The Come up, The Warm Up, & FNL. I love this song more than any other of his songs though.
This man's literally changed my outlook on life, made me stop and appreciate the flowers so to speak, his love for his Mother and his closest peers speaks volumes on how we all should appreciate the ones that are closest to us. Here's to J Cole🎉
We all been thru different experiences but this brings back them memories everytime from them young summers. I can't feel exactly how i used to but I still remember the times I won't forget
This is one of my favorite joints of all time. So, I've been bumping this since it came out. And I'll still be bumping it beyond 2019.. the lyrics he spit on this track is too true..
He gonna be one of the greats. Just give it time..
