This song is the creamiest of all J Cole's songs for me.... I discovered it 7 years ago back when I was in my mid collage years going through a lot of shit, experiencing the impacts of my parents' divorce at the same at the time... It gave me hope and strength to focus and finish my degree. Thankfully I finished my degree but still life hasn't turned out the way I planned it, 5 years later after college still haven't landed my first job for the profession i studied just stuck on a dead-end general job that isn't in line with my profession I studied. Early this morning i just got robbed of my phone and some cash on my way to work. But here I am back listening to this song because it always gives me hope to keep on fighting on matter how bad and dark things are in my life.

By far the realist rapper of all time, the way he is able to conceptualize and tell heartfelt stories through his lyrics is truly amazing.

" so I'm asking you if you can hold me down lord,
Be my umbrella-ella-ella in this down pour,
I know you never-ever-ever let me drown or,
Won't let that devil-evil-evil win this round nah!
And though I stray for you, you know that my heart is good,
And I know I ain't exactly living how I probably should,
And I'm a try to act better like it's hollywood,
Niggas congratulate me I just tell 'em god is good,
    God is good
    What am I here for?
I'm a man so I cannot let them tears fall?
But understand tryna get my head clear ya'll,
This shit is on my mind,
Asking for the lord to show me all my signs,
    Show me something, uh
Cause I'm trynna find something, uh
I'm lost can you show me something, uh
I'm lost can you show me something, yeah"
