    “Unless he belonged somewhere, unless his life had some meaning and direction, he would feel like a particle of dust and be overcome by his individual insignificance.” -Erich Fromm

    I strongly recommend reading Fromm’s books rather than listening to someone else’s interpretation of them. They are good reads and not too long.

      Absolutely. My videos do not replace his actual works. My hope is to get people interested in the great works.

    15:30 that’s exactly what James Holmes said his motivation was, pretty insightful!
    Think also of the Columbine shooters, they referred to themselves as “God-like, a step above you filthy humans”.

      Thank you for watching.
      Erich Fromm really understood the psychology prevalent in modern societies. Based on his ideas, I’m not surprised to hear that about James Holmes but I didn’t know he said those things. Thanks for sharing!

    If advertising is so effective, why are consumer products easy to sell while socialism is so hard to sell? Might it be that consumer products address consumer needs while socialism is vicious condescending nonsense?

    • @jamesboswell9324
      @jamesboswell9324 6 месяцев назад +2

      In the process of selling us products, advertising constantly sells us on capitalism per se. Our automaton conformity is thus instilled and ingrained by wall-to-wall 24/7 advertising making us believe capitalism is only system that ensures prosperity and freedom. And as pseudo-thinkers most people tend to believe whatever they are told and then imagine it's their own idea anyway.

    • @DrCruel
      @DrCruel 6 месяцев назад

      @@jamesboswell9324 It's wall to wall 24/7 advertising in the schools, through DEI, in the media and from Hollywood that socialism is heroic and capitalism vile. What sells free market trade to the public are all the consumer goods that make their lives better. Socialism by contrast takes our earnings and replaces them with a growing bureaucracy that profits the socialists at our expense.
      It isn't propaganda that gives socialism such a bad reputation It's the actions of socialists, despite all their supportive propaganda.

      How about freedom from oppression, exploitation.?
      Freedom to speak freely, get educated...
      We are too afraid of getting ourselves into deep thoughts about what socialism could be.

    • @DrCruel

      @@caveman1334 We don't have any problem rejecting National Socialism. Why do we have to constantly keep revisiting all these other Left fascist variants - to include one, called Critical Race Theory, which is just a Marxist-friendly version of National Socialism?
      We are constantly being sold on socialism. It's endless, despite being a disaster for the middle class and workers for over a century. The irony today is that socialism is mostly supported by the children of the rich, while resistance to socialism is strongest among actual working class people. Those who refuse to conform to "revolutionary" socialism are the ones who are punished.
