  • Beans and legumes are among the most ancient foods in Greece. But they also provide a kind of edible philanthropy, as Diane discovers in a visit with the founder and volunteers of a humanitarian group. We discover the varieties of different Greek beans and pulses as Diane strolls through the market, then heads to her own kitchen to cook up three Greek bean dishes.
My Greek Table is a journey through Greece's mountains, islands, villages, and cities in search of the country's most delicious, healthy recipes and raw ingredients. Diane Kochilas, the host of My Greek Table, is a native New Yorker who adopted Greece as her home more than two decades ago. With My Greek Table, Diane will shed light on one of the world's oldest and healthiest cuisines.

I noticed when you're cooking that you always specify, "Greek Balsamic". Is there a particular brand that you recomend? I'm not sure that I've ever seen a Greek Balsamic before, (unless I was just missing it 'cause I didn't pay enough attention or was looking for something else very specific 😂).

I there are certain foods that many other countries have been doing for generations as well that have just been advertised/marketed as being from that particular country… It’s all public relations and marketing… Essentially balsamic vinegar is a reduction of red wine vinegar which any culture that produces wine can do and has been doing for many many years as I’ve mentioned.
Spanish balsamic vinegar, Italian balsamic vinegar most notably from modena, Greek balsamic vinegar, Portuguese balsamic vinegar, et cetera
You might have to go online and find a retailer/merchant offering this Greek version.
      Happy cooking
