I always have a tough time adding cuttings to existing plants. I've killed so many micans this way. Especially if the roots are fine and delicate. I use the chopstick method as that seems to help.
i love the fact that you usually utilise what you already have in the kitchen or at home in general without buying new things bcs that is very sustainable!!
You're so cute Fern! Your face when you remembered the yoghurt container. and how perfect it fit...😅 I was like that with my special Vaalia Kefir yoghurt tubs!! There's something about yoghurt tub makers...they must know....they just know we'll be recycling them for our plants 😆
The big nursery in my town tells you what size nursery pot you need to get to fit in their cover pots! It’s super helpful, I don’t know why more places don’t do it!
we go through soooo many of those exact containers at work and we usually end up recycling them. i’m watching this on my lunch break and i’m literally about go grab a bunch to take home as soon a sim done lol. i love this idea i cant believe i never thought about that!!!!
Just want you to know I’ve been binge watching all your videos 😂 they’re so comforting and I just ordered a Hoya linearis cutting because of you. Hope it roots a grows long like yours
I have used many a food container for planting in and get lucky to find the right one for said container. It’s the perfect recycling of something which would otherwise in up in the trash.
I loved this video and that you are reusing food containers! I've been doing that for awhile and I absolutely love it. I use an xacto knife to make drainage holes (make tiny squares) and will cut the height of the container to match the inner height of the cover pot.
i had a beautiful pot of hoya linearis, it was full of vines which averaged at about 40 cm. I killed it very slowly and got down to only ONE cutting with 2 nodes on it. 😭😭 it's started growing back again so I'm gonna let it get longer before I chop it up to make a fuller pot and restore it to its former glory.
I have a trailing jade on a shelf but I don't have anywhere to hang it currently. Every time I see yours hanging I just get so inspired to try hanging mine but I truly don't know where I could in my apartment.
I found out that the large yogurt that we buy is a great size for the cover pots that nothing else fitted in,so that’s what do,I’ve asked my family to save them when empty, put holes in and woola! Love the pot you bought, gorgeous! Hope you get better soon. Natalie 💚
Just watched your plant tour and I am so impressed how great your plants look. I watch alot of videos and seems everyone has some kind of a pest problem and alot of their plants look like it. We all get pests so checking each plant for bugs is a big choir if you have hundreds of plants but if you can't check them all because you don't have the time, why have so many plants? It boggles my mind how all these people spend so much money on a plant and then don't give them the care they need. So give yourself a pat on the back for doing such a good job caring for your plants. We pretty much are neighbours. I live in Coquitlam, which is close to Vancouver. I would love to do a plant swap with you but I don't have any rare plants. Have a good one
Hi Fern, thks 4 this VD 👏🏼 I have a strings of heart that I need to upsize and I cannot find a hanging 6 inch so you gave me an idea. Your plans are stunning. 💚🍀nyc👒🧤🇹🇹
What a timely video!! I am waiting forlunch time and you showed up!!! Hope you get better soon. I recommend you take some multi-vitamin tabs to boost your immune system..
I use my yogurt containers too. 😂 They work so well! I’ve slowly started getting into Hoyas more after years of saying I didn’t like them. 🙈 My Hoya Linearis has become my current favourite and yours looks so cute!
It would be so nice if the nursery pot makers and pottery makers could get together and make their stuff compatible. 🤦 I just got a nice big 6" pot of Hoya Linearis. It's not trailing much yet. I'm excited for some warmer temps and longer days to grow her nice and long!
I love that pot I have a similar one I need to find a plant for and I think I want to get a Hoya lineres now that I saw yours looks so great in that style of pot! It may take a while to grow into that pot but at least I have a plan for it now😅
I've gone hoya crazy lately. Got Rubra and Bilobata last week and waiting on a new hindu rope to be here next week. Zero luck with the linearis (spelling) and so far can't get my hands on Matilde. Yours are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for another great video!
Trying to find “the perfect pot” for my cache pos is so dang frustrating! I will never understand why they dont make cache pos a standard size to fit nursery pots🤦🏼♀️
Hi fern, great videos I’m in Canada as well question when you do the pot in pot hanging plants, how do you water do you have to pull the inside pot completely out and water it and then let it drain and put it back thanks
@@wildfern last week I watched one of your old videos, when you had your hair real short. It was adorable!!!! And then today you show up with it pulled back tight and it sets off your face soooo well. I love the “boy cut” look on you. Of course, you’re adorable any ol’ way. 😊
Hi love love the Hoyas linaris it's a wish list plant of mine and I can't seem to get my hands on it. Wish I was near to you to get a cutting. Shouting from Barbados thank you
Love love your linearis! The foliage looks so thick and full and very healthy. And I am really starting to like the maltilde more and more. It looked like the matilde leaves were also submerged in the water prop vessel but I couldn’t be certain. If it is, can I prop any Hoyas like that? I’m so used to propping tropicals that typically rot if any foliage is submerged. Would love to try that out!
I find that Hoya root pretty quickly and the leaves are usually pretty thick and sturdy, so I haven’t had much of a problem with them being in the water.
I was just thinking today, am I the only one who struggles to find the right size nursery pot? I use my soldering iron to make holes in containers. And I just bought a hot knife to cut some down. Thank you for making me feel seen 😅
Dumb question from a newb, what does the chopstick help with? I recently acquired a 2" Hoya Mathilde, I'm comfortable keeping her small for a while, but how soon would you suggest moving her into a 4" pot? Would appreciate any advise 😊
could you do like a propagating guide for Hoyas? I feel like for me it's so much harder than propagating for example pothos! Or do you have already? would also like to know how long it takes for you to propagate different Hoya species!
Me from a mountaintop: NURSERY POT SIZES SHOULD BE STANDARDIZED!!! ALL COVER POTS SHOULD BE MADE TO FIT SAID STANDARD NURSERY POT SIZES!!!
It’s one of the most annoying things about being a plant lover! 😡😡🪴
Or all cover pots should come with their own nursery pot!
Literalllyyyyy 💯💯💯
exactlyyy it's so annoying how you have to search for both of them
aagrreeeeeddd
The search for the perfect sized nursery pot is a struggle that no one talks about! 😂
I always have a tough time adding cuttings to existing plants. I've killed so many micans this way. Especially if the roots are fine and delicate. I use the chopstick method as that seems to help.

The satisfaction 🤌 hahah thanks for watching :)
U are such a beautiful soul. It always feels like am listening to a very good friend
The linearis looks beautiful. Love that pot.
Thanks so much Lisa 😊
The big nursery in my town tells you what size nursery pot you need to get to fit in their cover pots! It’s super helpful, I don’t know why more places don’t do it!
So sorry that you're sick. Healing vibes!
Thank you 🥺🫶
Great healthy soecimens.
Looking great in those new hanging pots!
Nice to see you propagating again.
Jo.
Thank you so much Jo :)
I remember your video when you clipped off the cuttings so it's fun to see them rooted and planted in with the Mother plant.
Just love 💕 the Hoya linearis, I just got a large basket full and don’t regret the price I paid. Hope all the cuttings do well for you.
we go through soooo many of those exact containers at work and we usually end up recycling them. i’m watching this on my lunch break and i’m literally about go grab a bunch to take home as soon a sim done lol. i love this idea i cant believe i never thought about that!!!!
Omg yessss they are valuable haha!
I have bought 10 different types of Hoyas this month. Awesome video for you upload! I am definitely on a Hoya kick!!❤
Ahhh amazing 🙌 Hoya are the best, especially when it's bloom season.
@@wildfern Do you have a P.O. Box where you accept mail? I have a fern poster that is screaming your name… literally 😂❤

Love your Linearis so nice to see her get a glow up ☺️✨ it's one of my faves too I'll always keep mine 😊
I love that pot!!
I have used many a food container for planting in and get lucky to find the right one for said container. It’s the perfect recycling of something which would otherwise in up in the trash.
Thank you! Thank you! And just having watched your 40! Fav hoya look at how much these 2 have grown..

Hoya linearis and Hoya Mathilde are one auf my favourite hoyas ! Soo beautiful and easy to grow 🪴🪴🪴
I am so happy to see your vining plants looks beautiful 😍✨ ugh I can't wait to see your hoyas bloom ❤️
linearis is looking beautiful!!!
Thank you!! 🥹
They both look so good! That decorative pot looks so pretty with the linearis!
Thank you so much :)
I’m propping my linearis now but in peat! Its doing really well
Love love love your Mathilde and Linearis💚💚💚💚💚💚💚. Can’t wait until I find them locally!
Thank you! I hope you find them soon 😊
Thank you so much. You are amazing! looks like the hoya mix i made for my new babies.
Feel better soon! You’re the most beautiful sick person I’ve seen…looking luminous! 💕love my Hoyas…thanks for the video!🌿✨🌙
I think the black pot would have been my choice for the linearis or the first clear pot with small stones under it for lift and drainage of water. ❤
They both look stunning. But the linearis is absolutely beautiful 😍 🤩 👌 ❤️
Thank you so much 🤗
So glad you posted! Sorry you keep getting sick :( a real trooper.
Your nails matched ms linearis, so cute 🥰 you’re getting me thru finals rn, bless
Fernnn 😍 Your hair looks so good! And you are glowing 💗 I can’t even tell that you’re sick 😂🙌

It’s a struggle finding spots for hanging plants, especially while renting 😩
Those dark foliage on ur mathilde are gorgeous ‼️‼️
Thank you so much!
I was always surprised that your Favorite was in that little makeshift set up of nursery pot with hanger .
The new pot is so cute !!!
Right hahah!
It looks adorable! They both look great!

Ok I'm going to start saving yogurt containers now 😀. Love your videos!! Thanks for highlighting a couple hoyas ❤🤎🤎❤❤

Love this Hoya linearis! I’ve been thinking of getting one to hang in front a window that I want a little bit more privacy.
I love how you have your trailing plants all around your bed 😍

So nice video.
Thanks for sharing it.
Very good job.
Thanks for your time.
I love your Linaris. I bought a small plant and it died. I was so sad. Any tips for keeping them alive?

ahh i love when i finally put my plants in a pot that isnt plastic!! it makes them look more at home
It honestly makes such a massive difference!! 😮
Love the new pot
Gorgeous plants! What direction does your bedroom window face (the one opposite your bed)?
Well you're looking really fresh and lovely. Now I want to go repot some plants. Those probably aren't related, I just got new baby plants 😃
It would be so nice if the nursery pot makers and pottery makers could get together and make their stuff compatible. 🤦 I just got a nice big 6" pot of Hoya Linearis. It's not trailing much yet. I'm excited for some warmer temps and longer days to grow her nice and long!
Yeah seriously! It needs to be standardized. That’s so exciting about your Linearis - hope it grows quickly for you :)
Both look so beautiful! ❤
Just started with Hoyas. Thank you for the video 🎉
You're welcome - thank you for watching :)
Two of my favorite Hoyas which unfortunately I don’t have much luck with. They look so healthy and beautiful. Loved the video.
Thank you so much for watching 🪴😊

you cant even tell the yogurt container looks like part of the cover pot. very nice.
Thank you! I’m pretty darn impressed with it

Hahah love it

What is your favorite houseplant genus (is that the right word?) and why?
I hope you’re feeling better soon!
Philodendron 🌿✨ I love the variety and the different ways they can grow - and how big the leaves can get! :)
Love your Mathilde! Mine's still a baby.
The linear is update is 😍😍😍 and I love how your nails match the foliage 15:39.
On a different topic, where do you get those cute potting mats?
your hoyas are so niceee. also is your tv okay when there's a candle burning underneath?
Looks great! You inspired me to do the same with my linearis!
I was just thinking today, am I the only one who struggles to find the right size nursery pot? I use my soldering iron to make holes in containers. And I just bought a hot knife to cut some down. Thank you for making me feel seen 😅
So beautiful !
Thank you!!
You could trim the lip with scissors or a knife…I’ve done that before. If seeing the lip bothers you. 😊
Linearis is also one of my top three Hoya!
Honestly seeing lush, full pots of them just does something to me 😍
Wow! I love the set up around the bed so much! What's the plant to the right of the linearis? Anyone know?
Thank you! It's a trailing jade (Kleinia petraea)
I've got some linearis cuttings taking forever to root, any advice? Also, what lighting do you keep your linearis under?
Love them both. Thanks for sharing!
You’re so welcome. Thanks for watching 🪴💚
This might be a dumb question so I’m sorry, but how did you poke such perfect holes on the plastic pot? Haha

Thank you 😊 they’re really starting to fill out. Finally! Haha.
I LOVE ur Linearis 💗 I'm on the hunt for one after seeing urs! 👀
Thank you so much!! Hope you find one :)
Hi can you tell me how long it took you to emitted the roots in water?😊
they root pretty quickly for me. I find within a few weeks if you're providing bright light like on a windowsill :) thank you for watching x
Love it! Always love the hoya content!
Use a diamond head on.your drill and put holes in.your cover pots
Hey! Thank you :) The plant to the right is a trailing jade (Kleinia petraea)
Love it !!
