It was a kind of a good show, there’s another just like unless this is it, it used to be on PBS kids channel8ir was it 11 or 13.(here in Houston, Texas anyways)
The music underscore for this show was composed by Clark Gassman and Andy Street, reused instead from previous season DiC shows like the final 2 seasons of Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, the 2nd version of G.I. Joe and the animated Swamp Thing.
In the vhs tapes they showed you clips of the video game that was on SNES and I think Sega Genesis before the episodes came on... quite the marketing strategy
I just noticed that many background music cues on this show were re-used cues from seasons 6 and 7 of Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters and Captain Planet during season 1, while later background music cues re-used cues from the DiC G.I. Joe series and Swamp Thing during season 2 on the episodes "Shadow Khan", "Virtual Reality Bytes", "Doom Claw", and "Superhighway Warriors".
It's rare to see an intro that doesn't spoil a major plot twist. The fact they knew they would have to alter the intro after the first few episodes was probably a big risk as well.
Holy crap I haven’t seen this in 30 years but somehow the song came to mind (this weekend is Chinese New Year, year of the Dragon 🐉 !) It’s amazing what random details of one’s life one will recall out of seemingly nowhere.
I watched Double Dragon on WTAT Fox 24 in S.C. on Sunday mornings at the 6:00am timeslot from 1993 to 1994, later on UPN from 1995 to 1996 at 8:00am and 9:00am when WTAT carried UPN as an secondary affiliation, on KABB Fox 29 in Texas from 1996 to 1997.
Double dragon drew some inspiration from Fist of the North Star. You see it in the outfits the main characters wear and their the martial arts abilities. The first game had a similar story concept as FOTNS, rescue your the girlfriend from an evil gang.
The interesting thing is that the 1st episode is radically different from what the rest of the series would be. The show was probably intended to be something else before retooling to its current narrative.
I think the only looser adaptation of the game is the live action movie..buuut that got it's own fighting game much better than the one this got..intro is still a bop though lol. I used to watch this a lot back in the day and even had the dragon car they drove as a toy..wonder if we'll ever see a revival of this (probably not)..maybe a new James Bond Jr..oh now THERE was a fun one..."chocolate milkshake please, shaken not stirred"..which...funnily enough works as the very first milkshakes were actually shaken in Boston shakers like an actual alcoholic drink.
Sadly the most interesting thing about the show! I mean...the Grandmaster is called Oldest Dragon. Not some genuine Chinese translation like Lao Long? It wasn't great...the moral messages shoehorned in...the martial arts were pitiful and minimal (ostensibly to get around censorship rules)...and those ridiculous helmets Even as a Double Dragon obsessed preteen I thought the show sucked!
1:29 - “Never intentionally harm another. Do not battle if you can avoid it. Jimmy and Billy Lee are Dragon Masters now.”
A way to get around the censorship rules of the time as well, i guess!
The "do not battle if you can avoid it" part I never fully understood. The Shadow Warriors are trying to kill the Double Dragons regardless.
FOR MIGHT! FOR RIGHT ! WE AR DOUBLE DRAGON!
Dragonmaster Was Born With The Mark Of The DOUBLE DRAGON!
Old school right here lol how many remember this show
*ME, ME, ME!!!*
I do
Me that's how i searched it lol
I remember the one with both, but not first one.
This was an amazing series growing up, and the theme song is still awesome
Playing the snes game in 2020 with my girlfriend and had to show what we were about.. she won't stop singing the song..
best girlfriend ever!

actual gf or just a tranny?
I play Double Dragon on Master System
I like How both dragons share the same time on screen during this opening.
I love that spoken word part clearly added to placate parents worried about the violence
I still quote that to this day. It's a powerful message.
@Valravn ZX ok zoomer
Well that and it's a common martial arts thing. The art of self defense and whatnot.
Don’t all parents worry? Well, most of them. (I say most cause of orphans, abortions, abandonment, bad family relationships, etc)
Childhood! Love you dad!
I remembered every Saturday morning waking up at 8 to watch this. More than 20 years ago
You were blessed lad, as for me l watched this show during the week days after school, here in Zimbabwe.
“For Might! For Right! We are Double Dragons!”
By the power of the Dragon

pardon?
This is unlocking memories I didn't know existed
It was dope how the blue had the red mask and the red had the blue mask😅
for all the kids who grew up with basic tv and not cable.
Yes
Intro was so badass
I played the SNES game for so long as a kid, but I never knew what the heck about the TV series until now...
Loved this intro. I can clearly see nods to the Chinese cultural references.

I used to watch this when I was a teenager at the time. Now I own it on VHS tapes on dvd

Those 80s and 90s cartoon intros hit different.
Wow this found a memory I forgot I had!
I want to be in the 90s again...
I just brought this on DVD
Humble! Never bragging😂😭
It's rare to see an intro that doesn't spoil a major plot twist. The fact they knew they would have to alter the intro after the first few episodes was probably a big risk as well.
“Ultimate Right, Ultimate Might!”
We are the ultimate Double Dragon
Holy crap I haven’t seen this in 30 years but somehow the song came to mind (this weekend is Chinese New Year, year of the Dragon 🐉 !) It’s amazing what random details of one’s life one will recall out of seemingly nowhere.
I would like to talk about music from an animated series of the 90's, Double Dragon by Clark Gassman.
They should make a PS5 game for this cartoon.
I agree
Double Dragon the next generation
Even through the show was popular at the time,
fans of the Double Dragon games hated it.
If Billy and Jimmy were announced for Smash, imagine if a remix of this theme played in their trailer
This NEEDS to happen!
That would be so awesome
WHOA.
Are they Nintendo? Or do Smash adds anyone they want based off what they+people like?
That would be so awesome if Billy and Jimmy were in Smash. Ryu and Ken made it in. So why not Billy and Jimmy?
Im 32 now. I used to love this show
"Humble never bragging." 👍👏
The Dragon Master was from the U.P., in the town of Ontonagon
If i would make this cartoons than i would use the Double Dragon 1 theme intro theme from Nes

This brings back memories
Listen to this theme at X1.25 speed, the rhythm is poppin'!
Why does Billy look like Kenshiro?
Double dragon drew some inspiration from Fist of the North Star. You see it in the outfits the main characters wear and their the martial arts abilities. The first game had a similar story concept as FOTNS, rescue your the girlfriend from an evil gang.
OMG!!! My childhood!!! This song is so bad ass like it always be!
I remember watching this one a lot growing up
I was obsessed
Admit it, you SEARCHED for this.
Who else feels like the singer(s) are Billy & Jimmy themselves, even though they sound nothing like Scott McNeil & Michael Donovan???
When you've been living your whole life by a code and just realized you got it from a cartoon!
Rockin intro
Someone has to put Double Dragon to the Broadcast Syndication fandom page, becuase it was in syndication from 1993-2000.
Wow I love this!
I love this show
Live the code, the Code of the Dragon!
Fight for right, the Might of the Dragon!
🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
I’m not gonna hold any of y’all this has got to be at least a top 15 theme song for an animated show
i didn't know kenshiro was a dragon
Lmao I don’t know why they had him dressed almost Identical to kenshiro
I wish this was featured on Double Dragon Gaiden
up to this i can't explain how a punching/ kickimh warrior become a samurai warriors except to become toys with accessories to be sold
BY THE POWER OF THE DRAGON!
The Heroic Adventures Of Steven The CliffordBell The Konami Fearless SuperHero
Is this song on spotify
Say what you will about this cartoon, that intro theme is awesome even till this day.
I really miss cartoon from my old days in 1989 when I was 5 years old
Ron wasserman was making hits daily
The interesting thing is that the 1st episode is radically different from what the rest of the series would be. The show was probably intended to be something else before retooling to its current narrative.
This goes hard af
You no longer have to search online to watch this show, because Discotek Media is releasing the series on Standard Definition Blu-Ray Discs.
90s Danko
0:36 i never realized the song blew the plot when they said the dragon master was borned with the mark of the double dragon
"Never intentionally harm another." Yeah. That would only work in a cartoon.
Epic.
YES
This is so 90s.
“Never intentionally harm another” This show is literally about intentionally harming people.
Without nostalgia goggles, I've got to say this is awful.
Yeah I gotta agree, it was pretty bad, but it’s kind of endearing because it’s exactly what you expect from a 80s cartoons
Those badass games reduced to this abysmal disaster.
Bad ass!

Anyone got the full lyrics to this i cant make a few out?
I would have hated this, back in the day.
How did they manage to botch it this bad?
Kids today will never understand.
I know and remember reused Captain Planet and The Real Ghostbusters music on this show.
This is music
