If you are not getting any sound to your HDMI TV or monitor when you are in Samsung DeX mode with your Samsung DeX compatible device and using a compatible USB-C dock or an original Samsung DeX Station. Then follow the instructions in this video guide and you will be able to switch your audio from playing out of the speakers on your Samsung device, to your TV or monitor via HDMI when in DeX mode.
For the example in this video I have used the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and an original Samsung DeX Station. However, the instructions in this video guide will be the same and work for any Samsung DeX device or with any compatible USB-C dock.
As standard the audio from your Samsung DeX compatible device, such as a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone or Samsung Galaxy Tab, will automatically play its audio from its built in speakers when in DeX mode. You need to change the audio setting to send the audio to the HDMI output.
Here's what you do. Once in DeX mode go to "Settings". Select the "Samsung DeX" option. Scroll down and select the option that says "Set Default Audio Output" and switch it on. You will now have to exit and re-enter DeX mode and now your audio will work via your HDMI output to whatever device, TV, monitor etc. That is connected to the other end of your HDMI cable.

Thanks. My S23U DeX was crashing after setting audio output through taskbar. After changing to default external device, restarting DeX it's working fine now.

Hi! I found your video and thought "finally, the solution... I got super excited but, when I went to enable the mentioned option, it just doesn't allow me to, just doesn't go blue 😢... I'm using a S23 Ultra and a Samsung OLED TV. Any idea on why is this happening? I tried both HDMI and wireless and didn't work. Cheers and thanks km advance!

Yes there is. Open Drop down settings from your screen -> look for the dex shortcut -> press and hold it -> dex will open. Press on the 3 dotted option in the upper right corner and you will get the options. But for me its not allowing me adjust the settings and i dont know why ? @david harry any help here ??
Ohhh. Just open settings when you are connected with dex and it wil be there. I have a samsung s20. I was trying to acces the setting via my phone when i was connected but didnt work. It should be done via the dex self.
Ok, here's a real solution:
1.With the display connected, go to the volume control on the display's desktop.
2. Click on the three dots to the right of the volume slider.
3. A new menu will appear, from it select "Change Audio Output"
4. Select the entry "Display Device", next to the HDMI symbol.
The most generous interpretation of this video might be that the Dex software was completely revamped for the latest Galaxy models which is why he's seemingly referencing imaginary menus and features.

I swear, every time I watch a tutorial video here on RUclips, things never work out as they do in the video. The only difference is I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra instead of a S24 Ultra. Anyway, there's no setting for Dex in my settings. It looks exactly like the one in the video except there's no Dex settings. I'm sure it's something I'm doing on my end. Idk why it aggravates me so when tech doesn't work correctly. It makes me want to stomp this F'n phone! 😂
