How to use Samsung DeX wirelessly on your Smart TV

- With the new Samsung Galaxy Note20, you can bring productivity to the big screen. Wireless DeX is a great way to share content or present slides from your phone to your Smart TV, harnessing the Note20's power to get a bigger picture.
Getting started with Wireless DeX is easy. You just need a TV or display that supports Miracast. Then, complete the following steps:
- First, with your TV remote, open the Source menu and activate Screen Mirroring.
- Now, on your Galaxy phone, pull down the notification bar and tap on DeX in the Quick Settings panel.
- You'll see a list of available devices to connect with.
- Choose the display you want to connect to and tap Start Now.
- You'll now see DeX launch on your TV.
- To navigate within DeX, you can use your phone as a touchpad. Pull down the notification bar and tap "Use phone as touchpad."
- Now use your finger or S Pen to guide the pointer and access your apps.
- Since DeX on TV is wireless, you can now navigate the screen from all the way across the room.

I just connected my S20+ today after receiving the OTA update. I connected wirelessly to my laptop screen and TV. It's flawless and amazing. A game-changer !!!
Could you somehow use your laptop's keyboard when connecting DeX wirelessly to it?
Question may sound stupid, but I was surprised I could actually click with my LG TV's magic remote while doing simple screen mirroring from my S9+ phone to it over Miracast. But it didn't work over wired DeX, so who knows what else Miracast is capable of... I've seen on RUclips that even scrolling with LG TV's magic remote worked over wireless DeX in Samsung Internet.
I can't wait for Wireless DeX to come to my S9+ in the final feature update these days... I remember my aging laptop could receive Miracast (but cannot cast to other screens from it), so I might try to cast to it...
I own bluetooth mouse and keyboard that can be easily connected to multiple devices, so I guess I will not rely on laptop's keyboard for DeX input...
But because my bluetooth keyboard is backlit and I also own portable LG UST projector with built-in battery and Miracast support, Wireless DeX will come very handy when casting to my bedroom wall.
I just tried Smart View screen mirroring (not DeX) from my S9+ to my old laptop and I can confirm that keyboard input does work. Built-in laptop keyboard and all other keyboards connected to the laptop are automatically used for keyboard input for the phone while in Connect app in Windows 10. (I couldn't get mouse or touchpad to work for clicks or pointer movements, though.)

Yeahhh i have lg tv and wanted to watch online movies and stream tv and i bougth xiaomi stick for it and after that i doscovered its for s9 haha i toucth it was from s10 above
This is great feature. Glad its simply Miracast-based. I hope that it comes to the Note 10 Series and maybe the Galaxy Tabs as well.

s6lite was only for students, not providing premium features
s5e is the thinnest android tab in world, so it doesnt support spen

Not ANY TV. It has to be a Miracast-enabled TV.
I tested it on SONY smart tv and its working very well. Samsung note 10 plus. Presentation mode works, touchpad on touchscreen works with finger and S-pen too. Amazing aplication :) i will test that on the Projector soon.
Now i can watch anime on my TV using my phone! Amazing!

Love this feature with my note 20 ultra but the issue I am having is that all the options to change resolution and text size is greyed out so it's really hard for coworkers to see my presentations. Defaults to 1600x900. Tried looking within the Samsung input settings but nothing I can change there either :/

On my Tab S6 lite, when I try to click on DeX it directly opens DeX on my tab and doesn't show any list of devices. If someone can help, please clarify.

Hi, I have a Samsung Note 20 Ultra and I have connected it to a samsung qe65q60ta via DEX but unfurtunately I get this message on screen, " Monitor or Screen can't display Samsung Dex. Your TV isnt working correctly, or it's current resolution isnt supported by Samsung DEX."
In other words, it's in extremely low quality and I have no way of adjusting, on the mobile phone or TV. The TV display settings is greyed out.
What can I do?

Miracast is a clunky "standard". Any chance this could be configured to use Chromecast instead as that is a more reliable technology? Also, that would allow us to turn any hdmi computer monitor into a wireless screen

It is a great feature. But me as DeX power-user, i can't see myself using wireless dex while i am working. I will still need hub to connect all the things i need.
I might use it when i want to watch content on a bigger screen.

I have S9+ and I'm waiting for the final update that will include Wireless DeX...
But I just tried simple screen mirroring to my aging laptop that supports Miracast... And I can confirm that keyboard input on my Windows 10 laptop PC transfers to a phone. Both built-in keyboard and my wireless keyboards connected to PC. Couldn't get taps/clicks to work with mouse though. But when I Miracast to my LG TV, I can actually click with LG magic remote.
So basically Miracast is not one-way screen mirroring, it is two-way thing capable of both clicks, mouse scroll and keyboard input.
I can only guess how Wireless DeX behave because I do not have it yet on my S9+.
Maybe you can explore that further on your channel?

Yeah, DeX is great, ...as long as it's mirroring Samsung to Samsung. Just like Apple, the stuff works great, as long as one stays in the "ecosystem" of the Manufacturer and certainly, it's pleasant in this case. BUT... While I know DeX works on some "Smart" TVs, it's still not 100% meaning you can probably expect to deal with headaches if you don't have a Samsung Smart TV!

Yes, thankfully. S9/S9+/Note 9 are all gonna get One UI 2.5 that brings Wireless DeX support.

I like this new feature on Note 10+. According me is the best new functionality in last years. But basically Dex not works well in many situation and many applications with mouse an keyboard. In physical keyboard is not possible change language only English works, mouse buttons not works as in Windows especially middle button(scrolling, etc), also not works in KODI software any button. When phone is in Dock, not use LAN, only WiFi. Missing multi monitor connectivity and 4k option. In dex is a lot of work to improve, but basically is super.
You can change the language by keyboard press Space + Ctrl

Dex wireless It's a great feature - we don't have the usb-c > HDMI adapter all the time.

I know it on note 20 series only but will bring it across other devices, if goal is create ecosystem of devices and with xcloud on way it would be big step forward if you could wireless dex to well Samsung tv or other cable smart tv when gaming or back when on go without need for cables especially for note 10 users or even s10 users or even A series of phone if cable of doing so.

I have received the UI 2.5 update for my Note 10 last night, I tried to use the wireless DEX on 2 SAMSUNG SMART TVs I have at home and my phone does not see any of them, I can mirror my phone on both of them, but DEX option is not working for me :'(

Will the Note 20 still work with the DeX Pad? I use the DeX Pad with my Note8 to use my unlimited data. Using DeX wirelessly over Wi-Fi will be useful, but I hope the Note 20 will still work with the DeX Pad.
Dex is good if you have compatible apps unfortunately certain apps are no compatible
