I like DEX. I remember when Samsung would let you install Ubuntu Linux over the top. That was super useful.
Just some food for thought! The first one is - What is the obsession with good lock ? Because most people don't realize most of these features are native to Android! My second one is what are the security and or privacy issues with good lock especially because they come from the Galaxy app store. Because if you are observant 95% of the apps for Galaxy on the Galaxy app store can also be found on the Play store which have better security and privacy policies. If anyone has any answers, I'm open

I'm excited that in a few years I'll probably replace my laptop with a tablet capable of doing all the things I can do now on my laptop. I think Samsung's DeX is likely to be a huge part of the moving to tablets replacing laptops. I want that desktop capabilities and experiences, so DeX.

Running dex wirelessly to your firestick is simply mind blowing!
How is that achieved? Is it the usual screen cast option/screen mirror on the stick? I must try it
@@DrMoorehen yes it is via the screen cast feature! when you turn it on you go to your samsung device turn on dex and the firestick should be listed there! enjoy!

Thanks, if you're attempting wireless to a monitor - do you need a dongle, miracast? I have several non-smart monitors . In the comments someone mentioned using a firestick _ presumably for this purpose, but surely thats not mira cast based?

Yes, but some TVs have it built in. My Roku devices have all worked and usually what I use

Meanwhile us Mac users can only use a HDMI cable -_-
I really wish they kept MacOS support for this great feature.
After all the years that DeX has been available and evolved to be ever more useful, Apple has touted processors as supposedly so much more capable than any Android device's, and yet they haven't even begun to allow users to leverage them with a desktop OS running from an i-device. They'd rather corral their users and convince them that they need separate devices for distinct feature sets... because ecosystem.
Apple user: Look, Ma, I can have my iPhone, iPad, and iMac talk to each other seamlessly.
Ma: Child, I can use my S24 Ultra (or Z Fold 5) to do everything I need without having to buy two extra devices.
Ikr, they even push the iPad till M4 recently, but the iPadOS barrier just let it down... I think Apple didn't want it to cannibalize their other products
But why would apple give them that option when people are happily, and in some cases probably even take pride in handing over all their money for seperate devices
We use it to connect to our projector when camping to watch videos, share pictures, work, etc.
Thank you for this informative video... I just tried running Dex on Windows 11 by connecting my S22 Ultra to my laptop using USB. It didn't work and kept trying to connect wirelessly to my Samsung smart TV!

Ah yes, you need to download dex for pc first to your computer www.samsung.com/au/apps/samsung-dex/
Install the program then it will work!

@@SamMobileTV It worked perfectly but it disconnected the moment I changed focus to Windows, to reply to you, and now I need to disconnect the cable and reconnect it again!

Good and informative video. I'm outputting 4K from my S23 Ultra, but I'm getting stutters on my TV... Feels like 30hz. My oled tv supports 4K at 120hz, so I was expecting at least 60hz via Dex. This happens both while using Dex and standard screen mirroring via cable. I tried hdmi-usb C, hdmi-hdmi(with a usb C adapter), usb C hubs and usb C docking stations... All of them of good quality that support 4K 60hz....Same story... Only 30hz. This only happens when outputting to 4K. If I go back to 1080p I get 60hz. Any thoughts?
Do u have ur tv in pc mode? If not that could be the issue

Which is better tho? New DeX or old DeX? In terms of the UI and layout.
I myself took a day or so to get used to it, but I've loved the new Dex! Having the desktop-like space where I can place apps and icons but *also* widgets, and having the full control panel, more then one homescreen if it's needed, etc. Even having the side panel I can pull out with apps I may need suddenly (like pixel recorder during a lecture). It's like they took the standard tablet/mobile phone experience but expanded it's scope.

Goodlock only works for Samsung devices. There's no reason for it to be in the Play store. You're only going to find it in the Galaxy store, which is on Samsung devices.
Can i run a game using dex?
Does any monitor supports Dex? Or it should be just Samsung monitor only?
Any, but you have to be using a type c to hdmi cable. Dex cable?

Samsung DeX never works for me. I tried USB-C to HDMI cables/adapters to connect my S23 Ultra and even my S24 Ultra, but it keeps disconnecting. Do you have any solutions for me? Please let me know. Thank you.😊
Problem usually caused by quality of cable and adaptors. I had to use genuine Samsung usb c cable to get it to work.

I'm afraid it might be your device, I have been using Dex since Tab S4. Currently use Dex on Zfold5, Tab S8+ and Note10+ for general Microsoft365 computing, entertainment and even VDI Windows 10 for work when Travelling (Management Consulting Big 4) wireless with TV in hotels. However, like the other person said... use a quality USB C cable and docks also update the software on your phone
Adpter and cable issue. Try buy brand new original.
But the Samsung multiport adapter, its expensive sure but it works for me atleast and i picked it up for 40 euros on sale
Everybody always references PowerPoint presentations when they talk about Dex. Is that all you can do on it? I mean I know it's a "Desktop Interface" but what apps do you have? Mail? Chrome? PowerPoint? Wow, so amazing...

You can present Powerpoint with SPen which is super cool.

If Apple had half of the features that Samsung devices have they'd be crowing like it's the second coming; and Apple fanboys would be losing their shit.
And yet there's Samsung, humbly getting on with just making great products. They're years ahead of Apple.
Why did they make that the default dex, they shouldn't dare to try to remove dex in favour of this useless version of dex, they should focus on improving the classic dex and actually marketing it what was the last time Samsung marketed dex like what are they doing
