To be fair it could've worked if it was a 1v3, or if the arch players weren't so goated with the sauce
@@aa01blue38 These archer players were also microing far better than 1100 elo players. I play similar elo and people usually potato their archers.

I would struggle to beat any of them 1v1, the fact that you were even able to hold your own vs 4 of them is absolute insanity.

I've been playing a lot of Armenians lately. Would love to see them played in a 1v4. I'm not good at deer luring so it's really nice to just mule cart them.

Mobility is crucial in these 1 v multiple games
The problem with 4v1 is even if you kill them, all it takes is 1 vill at one of the teams to be at anothrrs base

Nothing is better than overwhelming your oponent with longsword boys, too bad it don't happen that often.
Just another person commenting on the gameplay of the best AoE2 player in the world. Infantry are the worst unit type for turning a military advantage into villager kills if they are all you make, because they can't kill villagers close to TCs without taking heavy damage. Even with Gambesons, you need rams to take out TCs. In a 1v1, maybe it's fine, but 1v4 you have to take every advantage you can.
Burmese Long Swordsman with full castle-age upgrades does 10 damage to TC, 5 dps. Ram does ~24 dps and costs as much as 3.6 long swordsmen, so slightly better there, but main thing is that a ram dies to 175 arrows. 3.6 long swordsmen would die to just 108 arrows to a TC with Fletching, or 72 to a TC with Bodkin. Teal probably didn't have Bodkin, but the players going crossbows certainly did. Add to that the fact that rams mostly cost wood. To kill villagers with infantry you need to kill TCs; and to kill TCs in Castle age, especially Persian TCs, you need rams. (Mangonels don't pair as well with swordsmen because swordsmen don't protect them from cavalry as well as pikemen, and with 1v4 you can't afford to have your longswordsmen standing around killing buildings while mangonels slowly kill a TC.)
Later on, a switch to elephants would have been great, with the option of Hussar once Manipur Cavalry was in. With Howdah, Elite Battle Elephants take 1 damage from fully-upgraded arbalests. A Paladin dies to 60 arrows; the elephant dies to 320, while costing just 40 more food (and 5 less gold) than the paladin. Can withstand over 4x the arrows that a Huskarl can while barely costing twice as much.
The main point being that every unit has a counter. It's naive to think that players good enough to stop their scout from being trapped, and dozens of games played, would be so bad at the game that they can't recognize a counter to a mono-comp and stick to it. If you're going infantry, the last thing you want is for your opponent to go archers (cav archers in particular), while the best thing for you is for them to go pikemen.
So you make a switch towards a unit (elephant) that forces them to go into the unit that you already counter (pikemen).
I don't think scorpions are bad, but a siege workshop at home is of no use offensively in a 1v4. It's just too much idle time for siege units to move across the entirety of a 6-player map. And I must disagree on deleting all your walls in the late game. You got raided. If you say that "there will always be holes in the walls", well: patch those holes. The way that villager arrow scaling works (10 villagers add 10 arrows in Dark Age, but only 5 arrows with all TC upgrades) means that it's very often cost-effective to sit cavalry under TCs, even in a standard 1v1 against opponent who is merely as competent as oneself. When your opponent is three times as good at effectively using their resources, sacrificing hussars to raid farms is an easy decision.
Whereas if you fully wall, then the hussar raids run into those walls and the damage they can do is limited.
Id wanna see spanish (cannon galls), persians (war eles) and japanese (samurai) ! Keep it up doe !

I won a single 1v1 game above 900. My opponent went all in on a small eco in castle and I barely managed to survive. Can't imagine facing 4 players stronger than that.
(I'm now well below 800 again.)

you need to incorperate siege towers into your champs build. Faster mobility and can garrison for cover.

To be honest, I think the best approach in these kind of games is to go fast castle and castle drop a player and take out their TC before they reach Castle themselves. You might end up getting raided at home while this is happening, but atleast you get that other guy's resources and delay their progress alot.

honest question, why go scorpions instead of mangonel? i get that mass scorpions are good but until you get there they always feel so useless, never one shot anything, and cant hit THAT many units unless is a really nice line up.

the lack of siege was the problem.
With a few rams and mangos instead of the second TC hera could have steamrolled teal and the rest.

Teutons 1v4 would be awesome. The strongest strat in the whole game is the FC Teutonic Knight rush, trust me.
