  • I'm in no way associated with DK Customs and have not been paid by anyone for this review. This is a review of the tank lift kit from DK Customs. Their Customer service was excellent. The fit and finish of there product are some of the best I've seen.

    I tried the wind deflector that you mentioned that go under the front of the seat on the frame. Put them on a 2012 Street glide and they didn't help at all. My son has them on his 06 street glide and his is tinted glass and they work good on his. I think there is a diffident pitch to his Plexiglas ones than what they chrome ones have, also really with those pushing air the same on both sides then they frame is blocked off pretty much solid and the air has nowhere much to circulate and got. A diffident breather box besides they factory backing block is much better because the factory ones block a lot of air.

      Thanks for the comment. I've removed the mid frame deflector on the right side, primary side, of the bike which allows the hot air from the left side to escape out the right. This made my bike feel cooler on the left and less heat felt on the seat as well. Ride safe!

    Did the lift kit help with engine temperature, is it running a little cooler? Love the paint on your bike. Ride safe.

    • @DiggervTV
      @DiggervTV  9 месяцев назад

      The additional airflow between the tank and the engine made it feel cooler. Since then, I have added a Jagg oil cooler because I added the 110 S&S Sidewinder. I removed the tank lift because I had to push the handlebars forward with it installed, and I have short arms. The paint has held up well. Thanks for the compliment. Ride safe as well!

    Did you put the half inch lifter on the back? Or is it just your problems came from the increased angle? I just ordered the lift kit for an FLHTC so hoping to have no fitment issues. I have stock bars.

      You might be okay. I didn't install the rear lift. My seat didn't align with the tang on the rear of the tank with the front lifted.

  • @eddiecabral4000

    Curious as to why you didn't get the kit to raise the rear of the tank? Now that you've ridden the bike do you think it would be better to install the rear lift kit to further reduce the buffeting?. I have ordered both front and rear lift kits so would like to know your opinion.

    • @DiggervTV
      @DiggervTV  4 года назад +1

      I'm sure you will be very happy with the rear lift. My seat has a steal pan and it would have been more difficult to fit. And I like the look of just the front being lifted. Also, I developed deflectors that mount to the top of my lowers that have made a big difference in reducing the buffeting, I'm working on a video for it.

    The fairing and lowers create a wind tunnel directly to face and chest. I haven't solved the problem either.

      @DiggervTV  3 года назад

      The fork fangs do work well, but during summer time riding things can get hot. Especially if you have lower fairings installed.

  • @charlieswearingen500
    @charlieswearingen500 5 лет назад +2

    I'm no expert, but it seems to me that the wings would still be an advantage to you by getting more fresh air to that rear cylinder??

    • @DiggervTV
      @DiggervTV  5 лет назад +2

      They may help some but I didn't see any benefit during my testing of them. By putting lowers on and making a few mods to them, along with removing the left side mid-frame deflector, I was able to run cooler temps and the comfort level was drastically better. The deflector, from Harley, that mounts on the lower triple tree also help with buffeting. The fork fangs worked the best for buffeting, but increased the felt heat coming off the header pipes and engine.

    Thanks for posting. Just ordered my 1.5 inch tank lift from DK and should get here next week. I too have a le pera seat (rt 66) what did you have to do to make the seat fit again after the lift?

    • @DiggervTV
      @DiggervTV  4 года назад

      Hi Mark... first I trimmed the tab on the tank about a quarter inch. The seat was still difficult to slid onto the tab so I ended up trimming about a quarter inch off of the seat receptacle, at an angle down to the weld, so the weld remained completely intact. You may want to try to install the seat with no trimming at all and then only trim if you find it necessary Hope that helps. Ride safe!

      @@DiggervTV Finally installed the kit a few days ago and glad I saw your video. I would have pulled my hair out trying to get that seat on. Ultimately, the solution was installing the "deluxe" portion of the kit that I also ordered which raises the back of the tank (spacers and new bolts) about half an inch. This raised the tongue of the tank enough to put the seat on. Ideally, I wanted to try it with out it for a few rides but didn't want to start shaving off parts of the tank tab or seat.
