    I used those big washers between the head of the bolt that came with the kit, and the cooling fin. Gave the fin a bit more lateral support, just like using a fender washer :) But yes, I had to run to the hardware store to get a couple of stainless washers that fit in the rear tank mount ears. By the way, very nice instructional video. I am riding a 2016 Tri Glide as well. I'm new to three wheels, but still ride two wheels as well. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about these machines, because I want it to be my go to touring machine :) Keep the videos coming :)

    Literally just (almost) wrapped this up! Have to loosen one wing, bend it a little bit, and retighten it. That tomorrow. Wings, 2” lifted front, rear riser spacers.
    The good: this video. Seriously, the instructions are “okay” but this made it a cinch!
    The bad: when it was almost all wrapped up, getting my (tall) Mustang seat on there was a challenge. As the video said, I moved the tank all the way back. Needed the clearance for the tank on the ‘16 RGU 103. I really had to work to get that rear seat screw back in!
    What I did different: I pulled the tank. Wanted to cleanly run some AUX wires from a switched power unit to the front of the bike. As I had the tank off, tightening up the “dog bones” was a breeze. No bloopers!
    I look forward to seeing how I like the taller tank. I do have to say the seat now feels a bit taller, and in my book that’s always good!

      Because of other things I did to cool down it's hard to tell how well it's working. My cylinder heads run about 230 when it's hot here in Phoenix. As for buffering, I don't think the cool wings help that much. The Road Glide design does a lot better for buffering.

    • @Batman825
      @Batman825  2 месяца назад +1

      Good question, and as I think about it I'm not sure. I know it didn't help wind buffeting. Since the Trike has the wet heads I don't know if it helps cool the engine that much. Maybe an engine without the wet heads it might help more. I do know that my cylinders run 230 and up and my oil has been up to 260 in the Arizona heat. However I have no data before the installation. I don't think I would purchase again.

    • @Batman825

      I would say it raises it more than 1/4", I put the 1 1/2" kit on so it raised the tank 1 1/2". It really exposed the cylinder heads a lot. There are longer ones available. I would say yes you can put he deflector wings on without the lift kit, however, I would contact DK Customs for a more specific answer. They are very helpful.

    Can't use the tank lift on mine, my bars are too low. Do the deflectors do anything without the tank lift or should I just stay with the fork deflectors, (fangs)?. All the buffeting on mine comes from the tank. Does the lift make your gas gauge inaccurate? Since you're lifting the rear of the tank does it make the seat fit weird now?

    • @Batman825
      @Batman825  3 года назад

      I'm not sure about the buffering with the deflectors. They do deflect the air down but I haven't played with adjusting them. On my Rushmore Road Glide I thought the fork deflectors did a great job. I get more buffering on the Trike with the bat wing than the RG. They do help cool the engine by directing air over it. That was my main reason for putting them on for me. I didn't notice how accurate my gas gauge is, I usually rely on the DTE (Distance to end) from the computer. From what I've read on-line it didn't hurt the gas gauge accuracy. As far as the seat with the lift, the stock seat seemed to crowd the boys a little. However, I have changed seats and now it's not a problem. The new seat sets me farther back so I have more room. I think it depends on your seat. It does push the front of the seat up a little. Hope this helps.
