- This is the first video of 2 for installing new shocks on the Tri Glide. This video shows you how to remove the body. Not a hard thing to do, I would guess you could do it in an hour depending on what extras you have installed. For those watching the video I've always wondered why the thread lock I see on bolts was white and not blue. Well I found out that the blue thread lock turns white when it drys. Duh! In the next video we install the Super Shox 14 1/2" shock without a lift kit.
Thanks for the video showing how to remove body. I just picked up a tri-glide and plan to do my own maintenance and this video helps a ton! Thanks for sharing!
I have a bunch of other videos for the Tri Glide. Check out my channel.
I'm wanting to remove one fender that was scratched. Need a HOW TOO.
yep this video was a great help on my trike to lift it and move it myself i used a engine hoist 4 hooks from motorcycle straps with 4 micro fiber towels to put between hooks and paint and lifted it and moved it over if your by yourself also every last one of bobs video have helped me along way thank you again bob for the videos you put out
Great video. Thanks for taking the time.
Not enough trike videos on the tube, my wife would not have been as helpful unless she was getting a new pair of red sole shoes out of the deal. great job.
I would agree, that's why I did this video because I could not find one. I try to put everything I do for that reason also. My wife gives me a hand if I need it. In order for her to help I had to take the tour pak off because it was too heavy. Normally you can leave the tour pak on.
Great video. Hope my 2024 Tri Glide Ultra is the same procedure!
@@Buka851 It should be. Have fun!
Thank you, hope this will work on my 2010 flhxxx, manual stated i had to remove the fenders also,,, WTH?
Well done, easier than I figured. Doing mine very soon. Thank you
Thank you
Great vid getting ready to do a comfort lift kit from DK Customs and NexGen 13" shock upgrade.
Just an FYI. On the reverse breaker, the red button is the TEST TRIP button that you use to make sure the breaker trips OK, or if you want to disconnect power downstream. Just below that and to the left a little you can see a tab (or arm) that pops out when the breaker trips on high current or when tested. To RESET the breaker, you push (rotate) that tab back IN after making sure it is fully rotated out. Common misconception.
Interesting, thanks for posting.
Great video...I have the same year Tri-Glide. I put a set of comfort lift brackets on without taking the body off. It wasn't to bad, but would have been easier with the body off. I'm going to be installing a complete stage I system and a pair of new shocks, so the body comes off this time...Thanks :) By the way, it sure would be nice if there was a company out there that made a portable jack/lift for trikes?
Merci pour cette super vidéo , je vais essayer de mettre cela en oeuvre pour accéder au châssis et traiter les zones corodées.
Thank you for this great video, I will try to implement this, to access on the chassis and treat the coroded areas (rust). For this problem, if you have some information, I Take them. And sorry for my Englsh. PatB
je t'en prie
regarding the removal of the trunk is this the same procedure for a 2021 tri-glide. i don't want an electrical problems thank you for the videos. trikes are very popular now. can you make a video of changing the rear hydraulic brakes or just bleeding them?
I don't think Harley had made any changes to the way the body comes off so it should be the same for the 2021. As far as bleeding the brakes, I did do a video on that.
thanks for the video! i watched it so i could learn how to get the body off so i could change out the slip ons. i got the TAB 4 1/2 zombie baffles. why does Harley make everything such a pain in the ass to work on? lol
Wow! That is quite a process, thanks for the great video! Not sure if I would remove it to replace shocks……but sure would make it easier! What kind of pipe slip ons do you have?
RCX 4.5" Muffler Rage Chrome slip-ons. Makes it much easier to put the shocks on.
I’m sorry I’m commenting after so long - you are the only video I could find re: taking the trunk off. I have a 2023 RG3 Trike I just want to disconnect the trunk to lift it not remove it to get to the ridiculously placed front bolts for a muffler change . I’m assuming it’s a close resemblance as Harley doesn’t change much. The four bottom trunk bolts did you have any issues reinstalling those. Someone on the forum said they were a PITA …? Any help would be appreciated
I had no problems with any of the bolts.
@@Batman825 thanks for the video very helpful and thank you for replying 👍🏻
hi, what tire reference can we install on the triglide. in France it is difficult to find the reference P205 65/R15 92T. I'm looking for an equivalence. Thank you for helping me. Best regards
Patrick
I have no idea how you size tires in France. Maybe ask your dealer or google it?
That extra piece behind your seat that you put a cushion on I’m assuming you put a tour pack extender on it did you purchase that or did you make it
Yes, It does have an extender. Kuryakyn makes them.
What brand of exhausts are you running on your TGU? They are damn beautiful !
RCX 4.5" Muffler Rage Chrome
did you measure the hight before and after upgrade? I just did mine and doesnt look like i gained 1" or anything at all
I did but I can't find the sheet I wrote it down on, I think I had like 3/4"-7/8" difference.
What size bit is it to take off the tour pack thanks for the video😃👍
6 - 7/16" nuts
@@Batman825 thank you I'm going to make some stainless steel brackets and slide the tour pack back 😎
So Bob where are you in Arizona I'm in Yuma
Phoenix
Why not replace the brake pads since you took the bike apart?
A dealer here had a special going if you bought the Harley brake pads they would install them for free. So I paid about $200 for the pads and they replaced them, all 3 wheels. Hard to pass up that deal when I can get the labor for free.
Hi there. I’ve got the 2015 tri glide and I’m from the uk 🇬🇧. Can this still be done without taking trailer hitch off ? I’ve not got rear bumper fitted ether thanks rich
I've never installed a hitch but I don't think it installs on any of the bolts that hold the body on. I think it attached to the cross members of the frame. The bumper installs on the bolts of the body. It's easy to check, the body bolts are on the outside of the mufflers. Hope this helps.
@@Batman825 thanks Bob that is great 🇬🇧👍
If you had to guess, how much do you think the trike body weighs? I couldn’t find any info elsewhere.
Maybe 25-30 lbs without the tour pak. More with the tour pak and it depends if you had a relocation kit on it. I would guess the tour pak with the relocation pak is 25 lbs. So maybe 40-50 lbs total.
Thank you sir. Really enjoy the videos. Keep rocking!🤘
Looks like it rea)y sucks to have to do things when everything has to come off too
What brand of exhaust slide on are those?
RCX
I put a lift kit and shocks didn't have to remove body
I'm aware of that but the whole point of the video was to show how to remove the body, there's no video on the internet showing that.
Very good job & video 👍🤞🙏
Do you live in Ohio? We’re in Columbus
I used to, I live in Arizona now.
@@Batman825 ohh okay, I just saw the “Go Bucks” banner and thought you did. Awesome video btw! Hoping one day to get a trike to replace our current HDs so that we can tour the country in more comfort.
Your not removing the rear fender. Your removing the body..
Too much. Work
Does the seat of the triglide fit the road glide next to it?
Yes, if I remember correctly.
