I have a 95 prelude Si. Started off with h23a1 , had a freak accident where i hopped a rail in the middle of freeway and it screwd the timing on motor which lost compression. Went to a jdm h22a, was fun yet couldnt figure out why vtec wasnt engaging, but just from driving it the top end was nice, really nice compared to the top end dropoff of the h23a1. I sucked in water in that motor from a freak rain downpour, blew a rod, motor was done. Decided to buy another h22 and sell the car, went to warehouse and all they had was jdm h23a bluetop. Bought it, swapped it, fell in love, still have the car 15 years later. Ended up pairing it with a t2w4 tranny, then made a custom intake mani from a 06 civic (rbc), extended the plenum with a headerback exhaust. Runnin wit turbo cars, light turbo, such as the focus st. Truth is i havent had a chance to race it against much as they all get scared when they see my driving as it pulls hard and quik, plus too many cops. Dude, trust me, get the h23a bluetop, you will NOT regret it. Its like combining the best of both worlds, low end from h23a1 and top end from h22. The midrange is something else, mod it to benefit the midrange and you'll love it. Get a replica tri y, and a euro R manifold IF you can find one. If not, hmu and i'll giv you the rbc extendo plenum breakdown if you'd like. Have fun
I have a H23 VTEC blue top and bro, the VTEC isn’t hitting as hard as my last motor which was the same engine. Do you think my solenoid is going or something? if you can help me or throw a little guidance I’d appreciate it dude. Thanks 🙏
I had a 93 Prelude Si w/ H22A was my first car and will always love the preludes!!! Underrated Hondas of all time. Gotten into a accident years ago luckily motor was still running good from the front end accident so now it’s a H2B Set up in a EG hatchback and man I’m lovin it so far just to hear the H22A run again makes me miss feel like Lude is still with me 😂
You think swapping one of these into an eg would be worth it? Still see them in the junkyard for cheap and 160 ft/lb of torque sounds nice. I wanted to do a f20b or euro h23 but all the prices went up haha
Absolutely man they're fun motor and the nice thing is when you end up being done with it or say you blow it up you're all set up for an H series already and can move right onto an H22 or F20 and go from there!
@@crv_tom Ya that's a good point could always go to a vtec h22 later with the H series mounts already installed. Probably will just try to find h23a1 with decent compression from a rear ended prelude I can put in eg and fart around in. There's almost zero info out there about h23a1 non vtec stuff haha
@@trashman1694 yeah it's definitely not as widely spread but if you look hard enough there is there's aftermarket support for sure and even turbo kits.
Wow that’s look clean. 92si was my first love. A total spaceship for its time. There so hard to come by nowadays. I hope I can get my hands on one in the future.
I have one from a prelude that was rusted out tbh I was trying save it but I couldn't which vexed me so now I'm trying to get the integra or civic to swap it into
I have 94 si just blew head gasket I heard I can switch to vtec head is that true love your build been following for a min I hve the green factory w gold wheels
Hey thank you so much for the compliment on the build, yes you can do an H22 or H23 VTEC head just search online there are plenty of awesome write-ups of the parts you will need to switch over to make sure you do it the right way.
I saw your car on fitment industries, saw your running 205/50/15’s, how do you like them? I’m about to install Megan lowering springs on my 94 lude, and I can’t decide what size tires to get, I have 15’s, some pics the 205/50’s look to small for my taste but I can’t make up my mind
Handling wise and fitment wise to me they just seem right the way the car feels very well and very crisp but that's what coilovers and being able to tuck them a little I did roll the fenders I have them on both my 93 Si and my 94 SI same size Wheel and Tire. With you going with lowering springs I don't know if they'll look like too small of a tire though because you only have a set amount where it can be lowered so that kind of makes it tough.
I know I have one sitting in my garage 😁 I also I have an H22 Euro type-r with LSD transmission sitting in my garage and an H22a4 for swap in my 94 Prelude SI.
@@crv_tom that's dope. I gotta sell my 93 si. Spun a bearing and I can't find another engine for a decent price. I always wanted to drop an h22a1 off in mine
I have one as well, although I'm struggling on the ecu end with a manual transmission. Do you guys know anything about ECU on these? Obd1? And as I see the base maps are so hard to find.
The header I purchased was on eBay at the time. I believe you can still find them. If not other sites, you need to make sure you search it right and type in header for an h23a1, not headers!

I had a 92 si H23A1 5 speed I absolutely loved that car
were they reliable and daily driveable? There is an accord SiR up for sale with a VTEC h23a i really want it but barley have much knowledge on hondas

Hey you made this crv cool! Like some mini Land Cruiser. Right on! Honestly lol so badass man!
Hi!
Where did you found the exhaust manifold?
Thanks:)
The header was just off of eBay at a certain time I cannot seem to find them anymore they were at one time around everywhere.
I jus got a 4th gen and u help boost my motivation
I have one from a prelude that was rusted out tbh I was trying save it but I couldn't which vexed me so now I'm trying to get the integra or civic to swap it into
one of the previous owners of my 96 put an exhaust on and it’s sounds louder and crappy…any tips on fixing it? bigger mufflers maybe?
If you're looking for a nice toned performance, Cat-Back, I definitely recommend an Invidia catback exhaust!
hey man! amazing car i have the same car with the same engine (im 15 btw so one more year to drive it) and i smacked a big turbo in it

I definitely can't find a aftermarket header for this damn engine lol
Super hard to come by nowadays.
What motor did you swap to?
I have not swapped, but I do have an H23 VTEC and also an H22 Euro R with a lsd transmission. I will be doing the Euro R in the future.
@@crv_tom I would like to see what you end up with. I'm rebuilding a 1995 Prelude SE from the ground up with my own spin and taking cues from all.
They made a vtec h23. It was the h23a. Was basically an h23a1 block with the h22 head.

Had mine rebuilt twice still eats oil. Now I gotta drop another In altogether. Valve guides or rings.
Yeah, the H series are known to burn a bit of oil, but I still love them!
