My heart goes out to all the people that lost loved ones. I haven't heard the tally, but i'm sure there is one 💔 I see a lot of death with the safe supply lies and murders here in Canada. So my brain is broken and that's what happens when you have too much trauma. I have videos on my RUclips channel and I watch them and I don't even remember being there but I know I was there because I see my little dog in the stroller. The video and I hear my voice, and yet I can't remember being there. That's what trauma does it messes with your brain? So I really pray for all those people that they don't get messed up brains.
After Hurricane Andrew many people just walked away and left their homes..No one wants to wait around for 10 years for it to get back to where it was before..Plus the construction maybe unbearable day in and day out..Good Point.
I have to say this is a great video. I have watched your videos a few times. It’s good to be humble. Thanks for sharing your story. I would also like to congratulate both you and your wife in going for your dreams. It’s never too late to go back to school. Praying 🙏🏽 all will be well.
I didn’t lose much here in Tampa but the preparation for the last two hurricanes, the uncertainty about the severity of damage, my family’s safety while riding it out and then all the issues with flooding, power outages, gas lines this has been tough although others have had it much worse.
I really love your message. After Ida in south Louisiana, we had to gut and rebuild over half of our house. We were “lucky” bc we didn’t lose everything. But the amount of frustration and depression that ensued was terrible and it lasted over a year. BUT, it triggered an awakening inside of me. I realized that more than ever, all that really mattered to me in life is peace. I now have a plan to move further inland to something very small and modest and stop stressing about things like a house and possessions. It’s just not worth it. I can’t take it with me anyway. Living in a stud house for months, cooking on a plug in 2 top burner without a kitchen for a year taught me that I really can do with less.
Wow....Im without words in describing my admiration for the perspective you have grown with and maintain... Thankfully the world has folks like you to remind us to be better....and in such a politely entertaining way....Bless you and your loved ones sir
You are so right , it reminded me how I spent 6 months without electricity when we got hit with Irma and Maria , two hurricanes one after the other right here in Puerto Rico . THe category 5 Maria was no joke , I have never been so scare in my life , the winds made me very humble and life really change for me. Blessings from P.R.
It is time for a lot of the NJ and NY people that have moved down here over the last 5 years to finally head back up north. Especially the ones that hate everything about Florida except for the beach
I bought property and a mobile home in Silver Springs/Ocala I bought it in April 2024. I almost bought in Palm Harbor boy I’m glad I thought twice about that. It’s a second home for me. I also live and own a home in Chicago. So I’m a lot more fortunate than most in Florida now. I figured I’d buy where I bought im away from dangerous coast and only an hr drive to both coasts. I love Florida and the ppl that live there. I’ll never sell my place. Pray Florida makes a come back. Pray the ppl can get their lives back.

Wow, thank you for talking about this. I rarely hear anyone talk about the mental impact of a tragedy like this and how it affects the individual and community as a whole. Understanding this is a very important part of recovery. Just another thing to consider when moving to an area. It is not as easy as just "rebuilding." It will take its toll.
I had a house that was paid for..a car that was paid for. I lost them both but i 💯 agree . Happiness is what you make of it. Material things mean nothing. I have my son, friends & family, my health, my job & somewhere to live. I dont need anything else !
Best thing you can do, is live on a houseboat. In Louisiana, the highest slip rent at a marina is 400$. I'm on a houseboat at a marina paying nothing but electricity. Like 60/mo. From my perspective, I can't see how people are surviving in this hyperinflated economy
Van life is another alternative - love to see more properties for people who build out vans & want to rent a small piece of property - you can pick up & move on when catastrophic weather comes in!
There’s a lot of plus’s about living in the state of Florida if you are fairly wealthy. If you can afford possibly evacuating yearly or every other year for hurricanes. If you can afford very high and possibly getting higher homeowners insurance. If you have a home also in another state that you can evacuate to when hurricanes strike. And if you can afford to rebuild your house over and over again, after each time it gets flooded out or damaged by storm winds. If you can afford low wages, high cost of living, and high fuel costs. And off and on air conditioner repairs. And you don’t mind every kind of insect and other types of pests. Very hot and humid summers, and year round weekly yard maintenance. Florida is the state for you.
Not finished watching this video yet, but I just wanted to say that I hope you channel continues to focus in Sarasota and surrounding towns. You have shown me parts and aspects of my town that I wasn’t aware of. You bring a truth to the entire aspect of the daily life here. I may not always agree with you opinion but we are all free to express our own opinions and hopefully learn from other’s perspectives. May you and my other Florida neighbors be blessed and recover fully. Hopefully maybe this time all will thrive and not just the ultra wealthy.
I left Florida in 1993 after Hurricane Andrew. Not because of the storm itself; my apartment didn't get damaged and my workplace was not damaged (LUCKY!). It was the evacuation. Even then it was horrible. Now I can't even imagine. One evacuation was enough for me! I loved Florida at the time. I lived right across the street from the beach and I was young and having a great time. But the disruption to your life that a hurricane causes even when it doesn't directly hit you was not something I was going to put up with. I was a climate refugee 31 years ago. The term to my knowledge hadn't been coined yet.
Yes! You have loved your place but now it's different. You have to reflect on what to do now but don't forget that there's somebody UP THERE whom we have to cling on!

Hello, first of all I congratulate you, you have explained it in a very sincere, informative and deep way, just like a professor teaching at a university, just like a life lesson, I would definitely like to meet you. Thank you.
I was born and raised here in south Florida. Been here 63 years have seen some of the worst hurricanes and never left. Never will. It's mother nature she will win 100% of the time. If you want to live here. Unfortunately it's part of it. I'm out there helping everyone every day.
I live in Fort Myers area. After Ian I saw the opposite. I was blown away by how people pulled together. How strangers pitched in to help each other out. The giving nature of things was truly heart warming to the point that it gave me hope. I saw people who weren't road raging because they lost their fabulous couch, but because THEY were beyond the breaking point because their lives had been destroyed, because they were exhausted from the shock of the apocalyptic environment they were surrounded by. I saw strangers to them reach out and comfort them. Hate to say it, but the things you saw may be a reflection of you.
Once you realize ALL the material things in this world can't and do not bring you happiness or make you better👍Your eyes OPEN👀! Let's see what happens to ALL the people that try to come up on other people's loss💯 I was in Siesta key(112* feels like temp)Orlando, Cocoa beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami Etc., Harrah's NC OTW down and back, I agree they may never be the same!! 😭🤦Just make me thankful for the memories🥰

I have lost “everything” a couple of times and guess what…I still have everything I need. I’m in Englewood. Most ppl are kind and patient but man…the entitled narcissists sure can turn a bad situation worse
We considered buying a canal home on Punta Gorda Island a few years ago, but decided against it because of the risk. The barrier islands are do tropical and beautiful when the weather is nice. But when hurricane force winds and storm surges threatened the barrier Islands, living with the.ongoing theat of severe damage or having your property destroyed is not worth it. It's far safer if you live inland about a half hour on higher ground. Living with the risk of the storm surges is simply unacceptable for us. When possible 12 or 15 foot storm surges are in the forecast for barrier islands, we feel like we dodged a bullet, choosing to not own a home on a barrier island.
People will get angry at losing things but everyone that chooses to live in areas that can get hurricanes really have to be able to accept the risks involved. I've lost everything before and over time replaced it all. I'll never let other people ruin my enjoyment of living in FL though. If they want to be angry that's on them. Hurricanes are probably the most destructive force of nature so anyone that wants to live in areas that can get hurricanes really do have to just deal with it and if anyone doesn't want to deal with the risk of hurricanes then FL may not be the state for them.
great advice man, the re -invent yourself part is good idea, i Uber as well and i guess we can agree to disagree on many of the people in that area , yes there are some good ones but just as many entitled jackwagons unfortunately, nice channel just subscribed : )

Friend down in Florida is in one of those 55+ communities where you own the lot. His trailer place there in the 1960’s was wrecked. He had insurance which cover things like furniture appliances etc. the lot is worth 60+ thousand and has no lien. He was planning on replacing his place next spring with a new prefab extreme high winds He already locked in the price for a 2 bedroom and upgrade to a 2 bathroom and car port for 80,000. He Already order 8 steel pilings 16 feet long to be planted 12 feet in the ground. The local ordinance says new construction must be at least 3 feet above ground

I’ve been through the destruction of flooding and I currently live in a state that gets a lot of snow in the winter. There is no comparison. Just the flooding alone, forget about the rest of the hurricane damage, is way worse than anything snow can do. Snow typically accumulates slowly, and melts slowly. A hurricane or flood happens in a blink of an eye. There is just no comparison.
Congratulations on your channel moving on up Joseph & Katie because of you I'm in Florida Katie I am proud of you getting your real estate license because of you Katie I was able to move to the panhandle.. I love you both... Stay in Florida 🌴🌊😎👍🏼
If you live in Florida you gotta have flood insurance, and you gotta leave when a storm is coming! If you can't afford the flood insurance, or refuse to leave with a storm coming, you won't last long, and you should find somewhere else to live! But everywhere has their problems, the south with humidity and hurricanes to midwest tornadoes, to western earthquakes, to extreme cost of living in the northeast, to the long miserable cold winters up north.
Those rich people with fancy houses on Siesta Key are a long, LONG way from losing everything, Jose'. After the mess is cleaned up they'll be back to normal. It's not really even that bad.
Florida's cost of living has spiked since the pandemic (2020). People started leaving 2021. Mostly low income and middle income. New people come in. If our insurance costs and availability keep going down the crapper many won't be able to afford to live here 2025+. Hurricane's just icing on the cake!
I understand what you are saying. But, the people that you enjoy being with on your uber drives have multiple homes to choose from and if one is lost in a hurricane they just fly to another home somewhere else until the vacation home is rebuilt. They still have plenty of money and everything else they need so of course they are going to be jovial , carefree and happy. Most people tend to run away from people who are sad and or poor. It takes time to get over a catastrophic loss... Most people get through it but that also can be a time to discover who your real friends are. Some leave them behind and some friends are with you no matter what. Just give people a break. Hardship is new to a lot of them and they are not going to snap back quickly. Some may but that is rare. I believe they will recover, in Florida or somewhere else. They won't be sad forever. They will laugh again. It remains to be seen how the really wealthy ones would behave if they become totally destitute.
Elevation, Elevation, Elevation (but not a river valley) Around SE Looziana folks are elevating their slab on grade homes up on concrete blocks ... up around 4 ft above grade. The contractors have it down to a science but it is expensive. OH! ... and NO,NO,NO overhanging large trees.

Well said young man, this is a sermon for those who listen to your comment about life and living in this world, not to put your whole expectations on material things that really is just vanity, for what does it profit a man to gain the riches of the world and lose your soul, life on earth is temporary but your soul is eternal, choose where you want your soul will to be eternally...chose life eternal bought and paid in full by the love and precious blood of our saviour Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

@abc-o4o great time to educate yourself great time to read the book its in there

After Hurricane Andrew many people just walked away and left their homes..No one wants to wait around for 10 years for it to get back to where it was before..Plus the construction maybe unbearable day in and day out..Good Point.
It's gonna happen along the coast now too. People that had no flood insurance and homes destroyed will just disappear.
Sometimes more is less. You get out of life what you put in. The south is toxic environment

Should turn the state into a giant rv park so people can evacuate when one comes around.
I think it already is an rv park. It’s also a chemical wash to prevent mosquitoes, but don’t worry the chemicals are FDA approved.
Wow....Im without words in describing my admiration for the perspective you have grown with and maintain... Thankfully the world has folks like you to remind us to be better....and in such a politely entertaining way....Bless you and your loved ones sir

It is time for a lot of the NJ and NY people that have moved down here over the last 5 years to finally head back up north. Especially the ones that hate everything about Florida except for the beach
California and Illinois too!
Yes I agree. Can't even find parking because it's all filled with damn snowbirds.
Oh the snowbirds that bring all the money the have and pump into the economy
Wellllll….if your friends & relatives didn’t sell your land……Oh, but wasn’t it all stolen from Native Americans?? 😂🤣😂
Life's a beach and then you die.

Thanks...I prefer the personal hurricane videos over the annoying news coverage that don't show enough.
Jose your little talk is so uplifting today. Blessings to you and Katie .

Agree with you 100 percent all these storms are starting to turn florida into a waste land

Living after a hurricane 🌀 is a real shock. It is like you are in mourning. Mourning the loss of what life used to be.
Great message for this biblical times. May God continue to bless you.

Facts

When people lose everything and have nothing left to lose - they lose it
People will get angry at losing things but everyone that chooses to live in areas that can get hurricanes really have to be able to accept the risks involved.

Snow isn't a natural disaster. It's melted in a few days nothing is destruction.

If you live in Florida you gotta have flood insurance,
and you gotta leave when a storm is coming!
If you can't afford the flood insurance, or refuse to leave with a storm coming,
you won't last long, and you should find somewhere else to live!
But everywhere has their problems, the south with humidity and hurricanes to midwest tornadoes, to western earthquakes, to extreme cost of living in the northeast, to the long miserable cold winters up north.
