    My handle broke today causing me two painful cuts on my hand. Luckily not bad enough to need medical care. The handle you produced looks perfect. I wish I had the tools and skills to make one. I found your video when I was looking for a replacement handle. I'm not too anxious to purchase another plastic one and risk another injury. I'm a 63 year old woman and enjoy doing things for myself, but need to recognize my limits in both skills and equipment. LOL I enjoyed watching you work even if I can't make one myself.

    Greg, just touching base with you and your followers...Your replacement crank is much better than the original! It works fantastic! And, you have caused me to re-pursue learning basic welding. You have been a great inspiration. Thank you again. Good stuff.

    I like the way you think. Tools are just too expensive and it’s a heck of lot more fun in making your own tools. Great job.

      You are right about that . It was fun and satisfying to build it . Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    nice..or you can buy one on ebay for a few bucks if you dont have so much equipment..

    • @GregsShop
      @GregsShop  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I had trouble getting what I wanted on eBay and this basically cost me nothing as all the materials were either scraps or reused. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

    I appreciate you putting this video out here. Had a broken handle on my drill press and was able to build one just like you did in the video. It came out great! Even though it was my first try at welding!

    yea these things are 30$ for my jet drill press! Ridiculous. I'm definitely considering this repair option instead. Honestly I don't understand why they don't make these out of metal just like you did in the first place.

    • @GregsShop
      @GregsShop  3 года назад

      Yes exactly, would have cost them like 5 bucks more to make a metal one that would never break. Good luck putting one together and thanks for watching!

    Thanks. I have a delta drill press and a jointer that almost every adjustment is controlled by plastic and broken off.

      Yeah that sucks. Plastic just doesn’t hold up. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    I like the hedge trimmer holder. It looks real!

    • @GregsShop
      @GregsShop  5 лет назад

      John D II thanks for watching! Yeah I couldn’t find anything that would hold that hedge trimmer so I made my own. Just a few pieces of plywood, and yellow paint. I have a vinyl plotter so I can make whatever design in vinyl I need. Thanks for your comment.

    Thanks for the vid. Think you could do one on the feed handles? I purchased a second hand General International 22" Drill Press. Only thing wrong is it's missing 2 of the 3 feed handles. Apparently the company is out of business and im having trouble finding the handles for purchase. I'm pretty green to this type of work so it would be very helpful.
    I am familiar with welding and have a miller multimatic 215 with some machining knowledge.

      First off, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I would think the shaft on the handles are a standard size. I have seen handles available on eBay but they were too expensive for me. I’d suggest finding the thread size and pitch and make your own. Find some golf balls for the end and epoxy on to the rod the. Tap the other end. You already have one to go off of with sizing.

    Have you ever consider to cast this hand and use it as a mold…?

    • @GregsShop
      @GregsShop  4 года назад

      No I never did consider that but it’s a great idea. I’ve never done a sand casting before. I may have to try that. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

    • @11Aldebaran11
      @11Aldebaran11 4 года назад +1

      @@GregsShop I believe it’s not that difficult, and this is a good opportunity to try because the handle is an easy part if you use it as a mold. If you try it, make a video so we can see how it will be.

    Man oh man, I have never seen you with so much rage. Drill vise flying around the table, poor Home Depot getting put out of business, man I thought I was dreaming of me dealing with our politicians, I need to calm myself down, anyway that was a good build of those cheap ass handles, good idea to make that better. I see you used your new weld table too.

    • @GregsShop
      @GregsShop  7 лет назад

      +rvkubotaman yeah it worked out pretty good. I was happy with the result. The new welding table is working out quite nicely. Still putting the finishing touches on it. Adding a double gang electrical outlet on it and some stickers. I'm going to do a walk around video on it next week maybe.

    • @rvkubotaman
      @rvkubotaman 7 лет назад +1

      Yea, the outlets are a good idea, I wanted to do that to mine but always forget, to many other projects.

    So hard to beat online. Stores have to pay taxes,cleaning,maintenance,advertising,staff,construction, etc, etc. But, don't forget the former CEO of Home Depot created the self-checkout lines to lay off employees then gave himself a 500 million dollar bonus for the idea. Oh well.
