    Good job. I once corrected the wear on a 20 inch drill press table by enlarging the bore and machining a custom bushing.

    Nice Job Winky. You should've done a slo-mo on the part when it jumped out the chuck for dramatic effect. My heart jumped ight into my throat on that shot. Don

      Hello Dave! I've actually made several in the past. I made one with metal fingers and one with a rubber o-ring that expands. The one made with an o-ring was for plastic pipe. The problem is, they are size specific and it takes a while to make them. Do you know of a way to make one that is either easy to make or has a huge size range? If so, please share. Thanks in advance!

    hey that works! got a walker turner floor model that basically came with nothing missing and a few accessories that is rare like the table rising mechanism and slow speed pulley. Plan on finding a production table with the drain trough in it, just because it is very cool looking!

    OMG so lucky you and lathe much less the part..... not damage when that came off...Lucky lucky lucky,.....not gonna preach......but for those new to machining.....always lean to be on the safe side....use a steady rest or a follow rest if it looks iffy......as seen things can go wonky in an eyeblink.....
    GREAT job doing the part.......many wouldnt have shown this boo boo....but applaud you doing so.....

    • @WinkysWorkshop
      @WinkysWorkshop  2 года назад

      Actually, the lathe was running fairly slow and the part had no significant weight so the biggest danger was damaging the part. If I remember right it was running about 650 RPM. To me it was not worth the effort setting up the steady rest. I should have taken a smaller cut and took the risk tightening the part tighter in the chuck. I have a CNC wood lathe that scares me a lot more. It runs about 2000 RPM and it's kind of hard to predict.... Plus a simple program error can make it try to take to much at once. I keep my distance if the part is over about 2 inch.
