Yeah I use the same F-104. I'm a "speed demon", so I just love it for how damn fast it is plus the Vulcan is delicious. Yes, I know it's not even close to being a good dog fighter.
Yeah f104c is amazing right now, I’m averaging at least 2 kills if not 3 made up of just headons against A-10s who probably overestimate their guns and planes survivability for headons. Most fun I’ve had in this plane just straight flying to enemy AF of spawn without climbing bc A-10s can’t climb either 😂
The rwr works like this irl. The f104 didnt have a rwr that showed you where you are locked from, just that you are locked. Go to the cockpit, there is no rwr instrument, just the beep sound.
Hey just so you’re tracking currently the AIM-9L are nerfed. They are supposed to front lock a after burning jet at 8.5km and non afterburner at 3.5km per the manuals.
I just noticed how on jets missile knowledge helps a lot, would you consider doing a video explaining how they perform and how to dodge/deal with them? (Im also accepting reccomendations as to how obtain that knowledge)

F104's are such fun planes to fly, unic playstyle, they have a great strenght, speed, not having turn. They are not just some all capable, you have to play it properly.
The F-104S are not even in Italian service anymore. The Italian airforce current combat roster is AMX "Ghibli", Tornado IDS-IT ECR, Eurofighter and F-35.

The reason why there are so many people uptiering their planes now in squads is because of chat. If your squad people have no clue where to find what plane you're using let alone BR they roll along with whatever. Still no clue why they blocked chat with people on your own friends list and in squads UNLESS you are already in battle.... Good Job Gaijin solid 2/10!

The Aim9L in the game at this moment is an Aim9G and not the same Aim9L that was in the game last week
The AIM-9Ls do pull harder but the problem is they way it guides itself towards the target: with a huuuge lead. The AIM-9G has this same problem (and AIM-9C/D too I guess?), theses missiles intentionally like make life hard for themselves by pulling in last second, thus requiring a more Gs than some other missiles to hit the same target.

If 9L isn't all-aspect, then how was I able to lock even a prop plane (109G-14) from 1.5 km that was heading right towards me? Not to mention jet fighters that are easily locked from 2.5-2.8 km head-on.
My 104 ASA is bugged i get no radar warning at all nothing shows on the EWR other then an audible beep, very annoying cause F14s are the bane of my existence in this jet
I wouldn't say it's a stop gap it's quite amazing if you can keep yourself safe you can do ridiculous stuff like I did a 7 kill game about 10 minutes ago in this beast.
The AIM-9Ls we have in-game are very nerfed compared to how they should perform based off of real life. A lot of people have submitted reports for this, and I hope to God gaijin doesn't brush it off because "hurr durr A-10 at 9.7 would be OP".
@@KronoADF Well yes their plan is to buff the 9Ls with the entrance of the PL-8/Python 3 and the Magic 2(Super 530 is already in game on the Mirage F1). His point was that if the 9L was accurate right now with no counter or competitor it would be broken, which I thought was slightly obvious
Armor belts with the Vulcan in my experience are much better air to air while still giving more versatility because of the fact that it's easier to destroy ground targets.
Basically: the USAF 20mm HE rounds are bugged, they have very low splash damage, making it not worth taking over the AP rounds, which do more damage on the things they directly hit (API-T one shots engines for instance). USN 20mm HE on the other hand does work, so air targets there makes sense.
@@davidryanlawrencd yes navy aircraft use different cannons and HE rounds, best way to find out is go to protection analysis and look through the ammunition and see if the HE actually does anything or not. Also I don't think the navy cannons even get the good API-T round with 53mm pen, which is the big reason to use ground targets for USAF aircraft. But ground targets is good on: Sabre F-2, F-100, F-5 and any vulcan Air targets on: F3H, F8U, F-8E, F-4J, A-4s anything that is a browning colt the occasional 30mms all have good HE too as well as the WW2 era M2/M3/hispano cannons.
The 104 imo is a great plane to fly It is a great plane but you gotta be smart about flying it, it can dominate. All the Italian ones are the best rn, and each one is pretty good at its br area imo

There are many jets in game with radar jamming and none of them are modelled in game. It's not unique to the F-104ASA.
Theres an su25 type thing with some kind of jamming ability although It only seems to work against IR sensors so idk, still i wish theyd add it

now have, you'd understand its all about closure rate.
They are semi all aspects, not true all aspects.
An aim9B will lock a phantom from 1km nose to nose too.
Closure rate has no affect on seeker sensitivity of likelihood of locking

Yes they recently changed it and now it doesn't pull as much as it used to.

@@rozmanl The change was only 1 -2gs at most (with boosters). The planes are still flyable, you just have to get used to it.
