- 10 years ago, a young Marss would play his favorite game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He played a certain character, one YOU may recognize. That's right, it was ZSS. But holyyy has this character come a long way since then.

Also Marss: Byleth's recovery is so cringe
He never said it wasn't cring, just that he wants it.
Also, byleth snaps ledge from what feels like everywhere with up B, but notice how NONE of the ZSS recoveries used her up b... thats because it was HORRIBLE for recovery. It basically only snapped ledge if you were perfectly below ledge so the tip would hit it.

Bylths is a better recovery move but does spike as well since it's technically a grab. Even then ZSS had two spike hitboxes anyways
That up B is sick. It has so much more sauce and combo potential than Byleth's, and it's so chadly that you're not supposed to use it to recover, Flip Kick is the recovery move
Not to mention that was unintuitive in brawl. Flip Kick was backwards so you had to turn around, Flip Kick then turn back around, z-air

@@TalDreamcast Salem was playing like an absolute madman that day. Zss was my main in brawl and he was my inspiration for getting better with the armor pieces.
Only meta knight? Don't forget Diddy Kong, Olimar, Ice Climbers, and DDD. Okay yeah there was more wrong with brawls meta than mk

Honestly Brawl I think was the most expressive game out of the series. Where every character really felt unique with their own tech and playstyles. Of course not all of them were viable, but were expressive and fun.
But why be expressive when you could just play MK or Icies?
And then there Is Falcon which could be the worst character in the game

brawl tech was sick. Just overall speed was slowed but mechanics were pretty great
I think ultimate could be a little slower

@@lt.shineysides8683 yeah but Ult removes like all of the actually good stuff from brawl. No pivot boost grabs and stuff. I don't even think DACUS is as good
It had some neat tech, but its mechanics at a core level were really bad actually.
The basic hitstun cancelling, tripping, stale move negation was stupidly strong, ledgehogging was a huge issue (even more than Melee because it actually just completely invalidated tethers here,) chaingrabs were awful, air dodging was completely free offstage with no risk.
Brawl is a prime example of the fact that some cool tech can't salvage a game competitively if its core mechanics are a mess.
Now these core mechanics were eventually refined over two games to give us what we have today, so it's not all bad obviously, and at a casual level it's still more than fine.
@@Robbie_Haruna It did slavage the game though. Top brawl players have said that melee was dying during brawls peak. But misinformacion against brawl killed it and saved melee.

Brawl zss is definitely my favourite brawl character to watch, utilising brawls strength of item-play I competetive was so cool to see

Brawl ZSS is the most fun I've had in a platform fighter with glide tosses, item management and fun traps

You guys at Panda should do a little series kinda like the Underdogs did where you play a few games against eachother in each of the Smash Bros games as they came out.
The way Marss talks about Brawl makes me think he should play Project +, its just all the sick stuff from brawl without jank and even more cool stuff. Would be cool to see videos about that
It's missing some Brawl stuff.
I also would not say it's without jank, the jank was just removed from where it was in Brawl and placed elsewhere, usually as some kind of super overtuned move that characters had.
@Robbiie_Haruna it does actually have most of the brawl stuff you woukd want tbf. If anything it extends it with AGT
I also just think P+ balance whilst a bit funky is generally very good I mean yiu can see bottom 5 characters get top 3 in that game and the rankings are generally very varied. Of anything you see less top tiers in P+ at this point since there's not a whole lot of Wolf or M2 players

Chain grabs, dacus, and grab release combos are the things I miss most from brawl
Boost pivot grab still exists btw, it’s just basically unusable in Ultimate except by Rosalina and Luma where Luma will do a dash attack which can connect into Rosas grab

I used to watch a little bit of competitive brawl back in the day, but I never knew anything about ZSS because there was so much god damn MK and Icies
I would love to see Panda react to all of the other characters montages for brawl. Especially D3, he was so good in Brawl, only limited by being so big since one trip can leave you to being doom to an infinite. After Brawl D3 was nerfed in every iteration with just about most moves being worst than they ever were. Only D-tilt can I say was changed for the better.
Dedede's Down tilt was so much better in brawl than in his later alteration.
Its hitbox was way bigger than the animation.
@@DevelonLP Yeah it is quicker and the animation was deceiving and I will admit I should have worded more as I do prefer his D-tilt now more than what it was in Brawl. I only like his in Ultimate because of an extra mobility option with great get off me option with 2-framing capability. And it also hit air opponents, Brawl did not.
Dedede in Brawl was so awful.

I feel like if Meta Knight and Ice Climbers didn't exist in Brawl, the game would have been way better and more interesting to watch.
There's only ONE visualized brawl hitbox I've ever been able to find and it's snakes up tilt. it's TOO big lmao

Surprised olimar didn't get mentioned. That character was so goddamn annoying. Able to have 6 pikmin, broken camping game, and whenever you tried to approach him, you would just get pivot grabbed. His only real weakness was his recovery, which was really bad.

They care about what people say, can't fault them. Though it doesn't annoy nor entice me or whatever, I do appreciate he'll show ANYBODY if it's relevant to the content he's doing. Some people are far too scared to go for it like Marss does. +respect.

So ZSS basically spawns with 3 k rool crowns at the start of the match.
ZSS’ fsmash is top 5 worst smash attacks in history but the winner will always be Brawl Ivysaur’s dsmash. Does a whopping 8% damage and has basically no knockback. There’s literally no reason to use the move unless you’re using it to taunt (as the worst character in the game).

I used to main ZSS in Brawl, but I stopped maining her in Smash 4 when they added those stupid, boring rocket high-heels. Made everything interesting about her gameplay into kicks. Sure she was way better in Smash 4, but she was so much less interesting to play.
