- Like the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the 2021-2022 BMW 5 Series Touring will now also be available with a plug-in hybrid drive system. The use of mild hybrid technology with a 48V starter-generator will be rolled out to all models with a four- or six-cylinder engine. The most important new features of the interior include the display and operation system, which now also encompasses a Control Display measuring up to 12.3 inches. Added to which, the introduction of BMW Operating System 7 now brings owners the services of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. The addition of, for example, the optional Steering and Lane Control Assistant - with Active Navigation and the likewise new automatic formation of emergency lane functions - to the list of driver assistance systems takes the new BMW 5 Series another few steps along the road to automated driving.
The wide variety of technological innovations on board paves the way for the most tradition-rich model range in the BMW line-up to write another chapter in its success story. More than 600,000 units of the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring have now been sold worldwide since the current model generation was launched. The market introduction of the new BMW 5 Series will get underway in July 2020. Both models will be produced at BMW Plant Dingolfing in Bavaria. The new BMW 5 Series Sedan will also be built by production partner Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. The long- wheelbase version of the Sedan is made exclusively for the Chinese market at joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive’s Dadong plant in Shenyang.

The 5 series is a way too good I am a fanboy of Mercedes but honestly the design of new E class is not so gorgeous as it was before

Markizas Lukas does not look like a hyundai, more like an A-Class. I think it looks good, and sporty. To each their own.

I just love the design of new 5 series than the previous.
Ready to fight e class.... BMW 5 series has always been the leader of this segment. Pretty much created the sporty 4 door segment. What’s an e class in comparison..
In the midsize luxury saloon the 5 series is the sporty one and E class is for luxury and refinement. I have owned both the 5 series and E class in the past, each for 4 years and this what I feel.
The e class was never meant to be sporty, its just a luxury family sedan.

The digital instrument cluster needs some improvement as it looks the same as the prefacelift and it’s not fully customizable as the likes of Audi and Mercedes

Same here. I really liked the old 550i before last generation. I didn’t like they didn’t sell the 550i without a Msport package. I hope they bring it back.

Just hope there's a market for these cars after pandemic. People have been working from home and are finding it easier and easier and more convenient to work from home so why would businesses spend money buying these cars.
Lets be honest a lot of these are used by management and sales fleet cars

@@sinbad0 Yea they do exactly the same and its all up to the driver. But the e63 does that while having a beautiful interior and a better sound than the m5. M5 interior is saldy horrible, otherwise great car.

just changed yesterday to a 5 from 4 years with Mercedes, I was surprised at the gap in class and feeling of quality when i sat in the 5 series just to see if I was making the right decision in buying an E class, I bought the 5 series on the day; shocked myself.
I agree.....bmw always has better interior quality..... I have also experienced one don't know why people don't like bmw interior design....by the way congratulations
the design i hate most are the air con vents. Just looks like its 15 years old. Exterior looks much better compared to the 1 and 2 series.
they should have updated the interior to the new one. the one in the x5 and 3 series

I purchased a new 5 series 520d M Sport in December 2019 and sold it 6 weeks later at a considerable loss. This vehicle had 20inch wheels but did not have adaptive suspension. The ride was so hard that it was totally unacceptable. I’ve had 2 other 5 series cars with adaptive suspension and smaller wheels and the ride was great.
I’ve now purchased a Z4 30i with adaptive suspension and it rides great. Please don’t buy a BMW 5 series MSport without adaptive suspension on large wheels. They should not be sold by the company.
So you buy 2.0 diesel on 20in wheels and in M sportpaket, pretending that you are fast but under the bonet is rattling mistake...whats the point? At least get 530i. Good that you bought the z4...although... you buy big 5 series first and then switch to small convertible?

We've had BMW here and there since 93....I was a kid then.....the handling was just better than MB. But the car really started having issues around 80,000 miles of, albeit, hard driving. I'm not hating on BMW. But I would be much more attracted to the brand if they could simplify on the electronics and transmission and give us a bulletproof reliability....kind of like what you would expect of a quality German rifle!

Bmw is going through this weird design phase trying to get that executive look and they’re interior needs an update big time. Mercedes on the other hand still has that classy look, but more sporty, and aggressive and the inside looks amazing with that extended screen
Cause Mercedes had an image problem. Once Dieter Zetsche became CEO he completely changed and redesigned the brand. BMW does not really have that problem so there isn't really a need to completely redesign everything. The new iDrive 7 is better than the Mercedes interface. The 2 large screens might look nice to some, but it's not an all around solution.

I'm not a fan of the front end, every feature is oversized, it looks too bulky and goofy. And i really dislike lights touching grill it just doesn't fit. It would look way more elegant and athletic with smaller front lights, disconnected from kidney grills. It lacks front to back fluidity.

Weird stick shifter.
Too much of a chance of bags getting caught in the shifter as you leave the vehicle and move bags from the passenger seat. I prefer Mercedes shifter in the steering wheel stack.

I’m really waiting for 8th generation model with more muscular design and definitely long wheel base. Even 3 series got long wheel base now. BMW loosing die hard 5 series fan base
Smart move , I have a2019 540i with the M sport package and prefer the design of my car by far , and if you have noticed they have eliminated all the fog lights in all 2021 bimers, that 2021 5 series looks like an extended 3 series , headlights look like a Volvo from a distance and the tail lights look like an Audi from a distance , the digital cockpit again sooooo Audi , been driving bmws for 21 years and there are no there’s like that ultimate driving machine , you know when a BMW is coming from far away wether they are behind you , in front of you or coming across from you .
Waiting for the 8th generation , the G30 & 31 came out in 2017 , they usually completely redesign their models every 7 years so I am guessing 2024 for the 8 th generation .
