Good luck and thank you for supporting the show. More top content coming thanks to you and everyone who enters for a chance to win this stunning buggy.
I used masking tape stuck to some baking paper then i was able to trim it and the sticky bit would come off. I did this on mt Top Force and it came up awesome.
For vintage bodies without over spray film, I use cling wrap, or cling film as it's called in the UK. The wife usually has a box in the pantry. It sticks to the body without tape, but at times I will mask the edges to make sure no paint can get on the outside. It's cheap, easy to use, and works just as well as the new bodies with film already applied.
Deffo one of the best looking buggies from Tamiya, i was ovet the moon when i bagged one. And it drives great 😎 who knows, if im lucky. I could win this one and have a sweet shelfer aswell as the runner 🤞
Great job! A shame you're not keeping it in your personal collection, but I see that you have (or will have) acquired a second hand Dyna Storm to take racing, so that will be a treat to watch!
That body looks the bee's knee's, love that Tamiya blue it's a great colour to use and always looks nice no matter what car you put it on. Awesome tips on painting thank you.😊😊😊
Good tips as I'm about to build my first tamiya, a tt-02r with a Porsche rsr body and BBS-style mesh wheels. Getting everything little by little because it would be too expensive to get everything at once
Nice Video, great tips! Thank you. When applying decals I use soapy water so I can move them around and then use a heat gun at low heat to make them stick in place. Works for me, but like learning other methods.
What this video does to those who already painted some bodies is "remind them how fun it is doing it". Time to buy another kit or just "bodies for the shelf".
Hi Gavin, thanks for doing this. Bodies are so gratifying! It seems like you prefer masking tape over liquid mask. Is there a reason? To me it makes windows a lot easier, and bleeding and residue are never an issue.
I just have no luck with liquid mask at all. Takes ages to put down three layers and I can never cut the lines perfect so I just stick with what works. Obviously you can only go so far with masking tape unless you get a plotter cutter machine
Nice paint work. Ive been out of the hobby for 2 decades and last week wat hing these RC videos of different buggies has me fired up to race again after so long. The RCs I have at my possesion are: Speed King Racing Deift Beetle Leopmase Whisky Buggie (mini version of the WildOne Boarse Charriot Buggie (FMT STORE) Bezgar HM122 Buggie I think their race worthy, what do you think?
@@RCKickschannel thanks, that means alot. However, I'm in school (college at the moment)and have work😁😂😂 However, I would have to relearn alot of things (since the world of RC has changed throughout the years) I'm out of practice. Do you have any tips? (I'm making my own RC prep guide (for me) to know all my buggies, their parts, and their use to when to only use them on a specific race (Herbie style)😁😁😁
My struggle is painting the inside crevices of the wings. Like on Optima 60th anniversary and the Yokomo 870c. How is that done? When I use the Tamiya cans the spray will hit the areas before reaching the depths needed for coverage? Anyone tip and tricks?
Body would be nicer when it's entirely done in Metallic Blue and not that 2 tone with that black or even entirely in a metallic grey. Gunmetal grey with a first light coat of gold....
Window masks can be made by using decal backing paper (non-stick) with wide masking tape
Cracking end to the legendary Dynastorm series…..I’ve got my tickets and now getting more
Good luck and thank you for supporting the show. More top content coming thanks to you and everyone who enters for a chance to win this stunning buggy.
I absolutely agree, this is by far Tamiyas best looking buggy ever. It is gorgeous 😊❣️
I used masking tape stuck to some baking paper then i was able to trim it and the sticky bit would come off. I did this on mt Top Force and it came up awesome.
Wow, definitely one of the best looking RC buggies ever, and you've done a brilliant job of it, awesome stuff!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video! I get asked a lot for a more detailed video on how I paint my shells. I’ll send people this from now on!

Good tip
Dog nail thing looks like a game-changer! Thanks! 🐶
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Fingers crossed! 🤞 👍🏻👍🏻
Sending love from Australia 🇦🇺
Great tip with the dog nail grinder ! a Dremel can be a bit vicious (for the body shell, not the dog ;-)).
Great job! A shame you're not keeping it in your personal collection, but I see that you have (or will have) acquired a second hand Dyna Storm to take racing, so that will be a treat to watch!
Lots of great tips here - I’ve been painting polycarbonate bodies for about four decades (!) and I’m still learning… lovely result.
That body looks the bee's knee's, love that Tamiya blue it's a great colour to use and always looks nice no matter what car you put it on. Awesome tips on painting thank you.😊😊😊
Very nice tutorial RcKicks and beautiful car.😊

In order to get Window masks I did a copy on a sheet of masking tape with my Printer and cut that out- worked out pretty fine
love your painting videos!
time for me to do my 2 optima mid bodies and my 2 fantom's, it's going to start cooling off here soon :)
Beautiful Gavin 🥰 just beautiful 😊
exactly how I do my decals but some good tips putting the clear ps paint on before painting Ive not tried that before
Great tips gonna try them on my next build 🙌

It's on par with the Avante I think...looks wise. Must be the metallic blue. By far the loveliest colour.
Nice job Gavin... turned out great.
Track performance will be much better for eh Dyna vs the Avante but the Avante is a lovely build
And now, send it to the moon 😂 Joking aside, absolutely gorgeous. It's really one that I regret not being allowed to buy raffall ticket(s) 😢
Thanks for watching. I would cry if this went to the skatepark
I hope I can get one soon I think there pretty cool buggy’s.
Lovely buggy
Great video, must admit I do enjoy painting Rc body's not the cutting out so much coz I like to get them perfect 😮
I enjoy painting and also hate it at the same time.

Cool, welcome back to the hoby. 100% get down to your local track :)!

Gav what did you use to remove any overspray? Polycab remover?
DOH just watched the explanation
Yep Tamiya Polycarbonate cleaner. Amazing stuff but super expensive
That's a sweet looking buggy, for me it's right up there with the trx1. So how competitive was it against the ae and losi and cougers back in the day
Its a good racer but it didn’t win any big competitions as far as I know
You did a good job with painting the body but I agree the black doesn't look right. I probably would have gone all blue or silver on that part.
It just feels a bit dark the box art. The blue works well but it needs something to make it pop vs the black
These are a very nice looking buggy. I used to want to buy one, but they were always pricey.
Yep, prices have gone up loads from a few years ago. I hope for a rere in 2025 but I just don’t know when it comes to Tamiya.

Hi Gavin do you have any thoughts on the Tamiya Zahhak (58477)
Kit?
I hear good things about it, poor man’s TRF race buggy. Can’t say I’m sold for n the decals or box art but it reminds me of a Team Associates B3

I think you can go 50k subs before EOY. Especially if KT continues to...well...jump the shark. -U10
premium competition model without window masks 😖
