America has some explaining to do !?! I had to visit a hospital here and as an american and I thought it would be an ordeal since I am not so fluent in Spanish but to my surprise those attending to me spoke English and made my visit to the E.R so pleasant and way easier than I thought it would be.
The cost of my care was also a shock considering how expensive things are in the USA
My journey through this healthcare system was a wake-up call that America needs to address in its healthcare shortcomings. The ease of access, language accommodation, and affordability I experienced in underline the urgent need for reform and change within the US healthcare system. It's time for the United States to reevaluate priorities and strive for a system that puts patients first. I know that would be asking too much so I wont hold my breath!

We don’t have a healthcare system in this country. We have a wealthcare system designed to enrich providers and facilities. It would be impossible to get an appointment with a specialist in a matter of minutes in the US, not to mention no charge to be seen and low cost prescriptions.

EXACTLY!!! I would have to WAIT WEEKS FOR A REFERRAL AND HOPE MY INSURANCE WILL COVER IT! THEN SUFFER FOR WEEKS BEFORE GETTING ANY MEDICATION OR I’d have to mess up my kidneys OD’ing on over the counter NSAIDs 🙏🏽 you know I was so glad I documented this. I couldn’t record inside the hospital but it was clean and had actual goddamn furniture in the waiting area like a hotel lobby 👀 I was like where they do that at? Like what happened to the hard uncomfortable plastic chairs 🫤 nah B!!! People were able to actually rest in comfort while they waited. I’m like yo WTF
Oh wow. If you ever go back, sneak a picture of the waiting room. And here I am in the USA thinking that they had that uncomfortable furniture because it was easier to clean and more sanitary. Girl your hospital sounds luxury. @@LESHAUNWILL

Once you go to Mexico for medical services, you will never want to go anywhere else. They have wonderful bedside manners. Not too mention they are extremely clean facilities. Glad you can hear now. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I have lived overseas for my entire adult life. Been gone since 99'. I have lived in Asia, the Middle East, and now I am in Europe. The stories I hear from close friends back in the states about insurance coverage and the wait times are absolute madness. Something most people do not know is that health care is free for residents in many Arab countries. I had a very bad car accident that resulted in fracturing my femur. I was airlifted to the hospital, had emergency surgery, medication, and two months of physical therapy. In the end, I paid $30. I only paid that because I requested to have physical printouts of my x-rays. :-)

Thank you so much 😊 but Doll.... I rarely go to the Dr. other than normal checkups and having a baby lol which by the way is why my teeth took a hit a long time ago. I am vegan and I never drank or smoked I have eaten pretty healthy my entire life and worked out since I was twelve. I would thank some Dr's but the US healthcare system has nothing to do with me being (for the most part) a healthy 50 year old. I haven't had insurance for years because it was over priced so I would just pay for my visits on the spot.
Unfortunately, medical expenses in the U.S. starts adding up from the time you enter the hospital parking lot. I wish more ppl would take advantage of the high quality, more personable, cost effective healthcare offered outside of the U.S. Thanks for sharing your experience. So glad you're ok. Because of how the medical staff treated you is why on my visits to Mexico I bring donated medical supplies to be used on emergency vehicles. In Arizona they pack the medical supplies in suitcases with paperwork to get through customs and I drop them off when I arrive in La Paz. It's a great feeling to give back to people who make me feel welcomed on my visits.❤️

Girl that was a blessing that the nurse or doctor at Star Medica didn't charge you, she had compassion for you. And those prices! WOWZERS! I wish my daughter could get those prices. She is in Alaska and is in need of medical care because she has chronic asthma. I am so scared for her. Good job sis, I am glad your ear feels better. You didn't have a happy ending in that E.N.T.'s chair did ya? I saw the camera cut, uh uh, you ain't slick.

@@LESHAUNWILL Lol 😆 girl you know I know that Qtip feeling too. And yes asthma is super scary. She’s been flown to the hospital several times and numerous of times by ambulance. I told her to apply for assistance. See if she was still here in Florida I could help her but I don’t know ish about Alaska. She has a job as well. And I know here in the states, they feel like if you work you don’t need assistance. That’s why it’s called assistance 🤨 I don’t need a handout or all of the help. Just some assistance in some! 🙄
Leshaun, I am so glad that you are taking your ear infection seriously because I had an ear infection in both ears and I thought that I could ride it out but baby it spreaded to my lungs and caused me pneumonia and I ended up hospitalized for six days. I was really really ill, so, yes, Ear infections are nothing to play with.

Listen, 7 years ago I started gaining weight, was feeling fatigued all the time and couldn't figure out why. I had other things going, but I'll keep it brief. I kept bringing my concerns up with my primary care doc via my private insurance and my doctor at the VA, and the kept talking to me like I was just eating and being lazy. Fast forward 4 years later of not getting help, I move to another state met with a new VA doctor and was immediately diagnosed with a possible growth on my thyroid. She Fast tracked me for an ultrasound, biopsy and cat scan. Confirmed I had an almost 7cm nodule growing on my thyroid! With in a couple months of my diagnoses, they did a partial thyroidectomy and I haven't had an issue with my thyroid since. That said, I'm still losing the weight and occasionally I still have fatigue, but it's much improved. But yes, it took 4 years to get the medical care I needed and I'm a freaking VET!
First Girl 🙏🏽 thank you for your service. I know it doesn’t mean much but several members of my family are vets or served and I always pay respect to those who got that kind of bravery. Not Me Chile’ lol
And second I’m so glad that you finally got that sh!t fixed. Damn shame it took 4 years and all of a whole MOVE to get it right. I hate when they treat you like you ain’t been living in your body all your damn life and KNOW something ain’t right. They have been doing that to my daughter about her back for years and she’s 27 but got the back of an 80 year old I keep telling her to get an MRI and I hope that now since she’s in NC she will get a Dr that actually gives a phuck and will listen to her plight!

I once had to have a cracked tooth repaired while in the Caribbean. Instead of going to any random dentist, I asked local people I knew (the type that had $$$ and I knew would only go to top doctors) for recommendations. Went to one of the dentists they recommended. He had been an acquaintance's family dentist for many years. He ended up placing a crown on that tooth. The work was so good, I had him place another crown that I needed. This was over 15 years ago and those 2 crowns have given me zero issues and look exactly like my natural teeth to this day. Biting surface is perfect -- just like my natural teeth. Perfect color match, too. Oh, and they cost a fraction of what they would have cost me in the US. Moral to my story - go to recommended doctors/dentists if you can. That way hopefully you avoid ones who perform like that 1st dentist you went to. 🦷

I’m in Wisconsin & I’m also half Mexican from our Dad & half White from Momma. My Dads from Texas & that’s where they both met. We only know our Dads side of the family really well. And they are very compassionate, loving, emotional, empathetic… EVERYTHING you want your family to be. My momma was born & raised in North Carolina & was just had a very cold way about her. I always felt that my dads side loved us more (lol). Fast Forward to a grown adult & having MORE friends coming strait up here from Mexico; they all tell me that America is a very COLD country. No one says “ Hello” when they walk by, no one smiles, they feel no one cares. And, they are completely correct!!!
Unfortunately I have to agree with you some people even moms can be so cold. I know what you mean I was just telling that to my friend the other day that everyone here greets you first with some sort of pleasantries before they start talking. I like how family comes first for them

Well thank you very much. The mistake hasn’t been fixed yet. It was my tooth and I had to cancel that appointment. Remember because I had to go see the ear specialist so the tooth won’t get fixed until next week. Fingers crossed and hopefully my ear will stop bothering me by then.

I hope you are still healing properly. ❤ The medical care you received is the complete opposite of what happens in the USA. My son recently had what was thankfully a mild case of Covid. He tested negative early on Monday and he couldn’t see a Dr until Thursday which meant additional time off work. We tried other offices and the wait would have been longer. We were terrified he would lose his job. You are one of many who’ve showed us that Merida offers affordable healthcare. Note: So ole girl just gonna half fill teeth 🦷 We all know there are exceptions. As much as I hate dental work she would have ruined me for life 😢😂

Oh LeShaun, I’m so sorry you experienced the pain and the hearing complication. . I had implants done here in Atlanta ( fancy Dr./ office that was highly recommended.) The next day I was in so much pain- my mouth of course but my ear too. It was a terrible infection that spread to my ear and sinuses) worse pain ever. I don’t like taking pain meds, but I was like: give ‘em to me.😵💫 Let’s hear it for Mexico’s Health Care!!! In the US you always hear, yes it’s more expensive than anywhere else but it’s the best quality medicine in the world. NOT! Hope the tooth fix goes equally as well and for mucho low pesos.🥰

I've been battling an ear infection for several months. I had to go in antibiotics and now I'm putting ear drops. I'm drinking more water which seems to be helping. I'm glad you got yours solved so quickly.
No no no he gave me so w relief but it’s not solved I have follow up visits because I have a perforation on my middle ear so even though the swelling has gone down I’m still having that flooded feeling. The antibiotics are helping but I have strict orders for 3 weeks. The drops he gave me I can’t even put in my ear I have to wipe them because dropping stuff in my ear makes me wanna use a QTip. 😫😩😩 i feel your pain
Onion and mullein oil works. It's sold at whole foods. Dairy and carbs hold infections in the body. Herbalist here. Just something to think about.

It’s 185 to start in vegas but I was trying to included those little towns that may not be as high as some states. But trust me I know. I spent $285 for my last urgent care visit for my back

Not sure how U popped up in my feed, but anyways I decided to view, because I'm a very strong advocate for using foreign doctors, even in the US, they just seems to be really attentive & wiser as to what's going on.
PS: In Mexico, U don't need a prescription! i.e.,just walk into a pharmacy & ask for what U need! At least that's the way it was some yrs. back!🤔...maybe that was 10yrs. ago, I rightly can't remember!

So what exactly did the ear doctor do? Did he just remove water from deep inside your ear? I am just curious as to why your ear seemed to feel better rather quickly.
WELP!!! it's not great but the combination of the chronic ear infection and me shoving a q-tip in my ear caused wax to get pushed back and fungus to grow he sucked all that out 🤢 it was gross and not for ya'll to witness 😂

People believe they have excellent healthcare in the US. Not anymore, even with insurance the cost can be ridiculous and if your employer is not providing the best plan available (which many don't) you are not getting top notched care. I left the US and needed a root canal. Total bill was under $100.00. Very little to no pain. The Dentist took time to explain and listen. No rushing you in and out.

I'm Brazilian and we have universal health care here. I'm always amazed (in a bad way) at how horrible Americans have it when it comes to their health care system.

Ummm ok so…what did he do to your ear to fix it. You showed him with two sticks in ur ear, one was a camera I’m assuming but what did he find? Was it wax build up from qtips? If so, then what about the water you said you felt looking up from the dentist? Glad you’re feeling better.
Yes wax buildup from QTips but the ear infection caused fungus that was there as well 🤢 i didn’t think y’all wanted to see all that. I also have a perforated ear drum but he said it’s small enough it should heal with the medications. The water he explained gets trapped and ended up in the middle ear drum which caused the perforation girl it’s so much but I’m on Meds for 10 days and drops and have a follow up appointment next month so he can make sure it’s healed 🙏🏽

Yes he drained more than fluid girl the infection had gotten worst and the build up was not cute
I've never had a problem getting medical treatment in the US. Guess I've always had good insurance. However what you had to pay was very cheap.
Yes that’s good but I know I would’ve never been able to see a specialist without a referral and the ER visit would’ve been no less than 3k that’s what I was trying to point out.
@@LESHAUNWILL you had to do that because didn't have good insurance. I never needed a referral to see a doctor nor paid 3k. Not taking away from your experience but that's not the normal for Healthcare in the US. That's a result of bad insurance or no insurance.

I’m not trying to argue with you but like I said I was billed almost 5k for an ER visit for my ear issue before. And always had to wait weeks to see a specialist in my plan.

I know for a fact I’ve had good insurance from jobs that I’ve had but regardless seeing a specialist requires a referral I don’t care how good your insurance is. If you can just make an appointment to see a specialist then you must have that Oprah Winfrey you get a car type insurance 😂 lol

So pathetic in the states... the so called land of the free where you pay for everything even nothing. In other continents the medical and health professionals appear to show more concern about the patient 1st than the fees for care. True everyone wants to get paid but TRULY pathetic when a humans wellbeing has to be put on pause for coins. Glad your experience is turning out so well in Mexico even though minor ear & tooth pain. Hell may need to look at retiring in Mexico myself when the time comes! 🫶🏾
