I have survived cancer three times in a matter of my 12-year-old life, I couldn’t be more happy and so grateful that I haven’t lost myself to my cancer (leukemia) i’ve gone in for surgery to help really slow down and figure out what’s going on but it’s quite stressful when I’ve gone through so many surgeries from 11 months old to 12 years old now. It’s been really scary for me because me being so young it was harder for me to find out that I could of died in so many different ways so many times I hope everyone’s doing well and they don’t have to go through what I have to.

(This was in February). I have had long-term constipation since the age of one. I went to Levine Children’s Hospital to get a tube inserted into my colon. I liked them because they let me get my bear (I was 12, but anytime I’ve been in the hospital, that bear was there with me). They said I could keep her all through my surgery. i had surgery on my collarbone when i broke it two years ago, the doctors had to put a metal brace on the bone to put it back into place. it wasn't actually that scary, but it left a scar on my shoulder

I got tonsil surgery about 2 weeks ago. It's really not hard. The doctors were really nice and they talked about it to me and stuff. I got the IV, but they use numming spray so if any of you are scared about that don't be. I don't even remember falling asleep. also please reply to me if you want to talk to someone about it
Same When I got my tonsils removed, it was like I blinked and it was over Sure my throat was a bit sore for a few days (I did have to stay overnight because I have asthma but was in the clear to go home the next morning) I was fine after that

For the time immediately after, I just could have ice cream, ice pops and other stuff like that. But yeah, hope all is well now with you now

I remember coming here for surgery. I was extremely nervous but I somehow managed. I have a medical problem called spina bifida and I have had 7 surgeries and I haven't had any surgeries for over 5 years now

As an adult now I had back surgery there 3 times. The second one was scary because the gas wasn't putting me to sleep right away. That was 22 years ago so the gas mask smelled horrible. I was crying and yanking it off and ripping it right out of the anesthiologist hands. Needless to say she put up with me at first then she smacked that mask back down onto my face. I was getting restless and frustrated and she told me either I could relax and take deep breaths or they were going to have to use restraints. I didn't like either of those options but I gave up fighting it and I lived to tell about it! I refuse to ever use a gas mask again!
Sarah Elliott, they can give you some IV versed and propofol before placing the mask. When you're waking up, it's just oxygen. The plastic itself has a slight odor even when it's just oxygen. However, you're not alone. I have had many patients tell us the mask freaks them out. There are ways to work around it to keep you comfortable.
I had to get an endoscopy a week ago and had a panic attack because I thought I would get sick from the anesthesia (I didn’t btw). This girl is so brave.
I got surgery 3 or 4 weeks ago it wasn't the funnest but you know I lived through it! My wrist still aches but I'm glad that it got done and over with! When I got surgery, I had the magic air but I closed my eyes and it felt like I had blinked. Before I knew it, my mom was trying **cough** forcing **cough** a popsicle into my mouth. I didn’t wanna eat because the surgery was IN MY MOUTH!

I had my surgery at the hospital. They took off my wisdom teeth and everything. I felt so brave. And I woke up still in the operating room and I felt better. It was such a pretty good surgery. I literally just got surgery on my shoulder and it didn't hurt at all during the surgery but after was a different story. That girl is so brave and so lucky she got to leave right after the surgery and get the iv out right away. And I don't blame her for being hungry lol!

As an adult now I had back surgery there 3 times. The second one was scary because the gas wasn't putting me to sleep right away. That was 22 years ago so the gas mask smelled horrible. I was crying and yanking it off and ripping it right out of the anesthiologist hands. Needless to say she put up with me at first then she smacked that mask back down onto my face. I was getting restless and frustrated and she told me either I could relax and take deep breaths or they were going to have to use restraints. I didn't like either of those options but I gave up fighting it and I lived to tell about it! I refuse to ever use a gas mask again!
Sarah Elliott, they can give you some IV versed and propofol before placing the mask. When you're waking up, it's just oxygen. The plastic itself has a slight odor even when it's just oxygen. However, you're not alone. I have had many patients tell us the mask freaks them out. There are ways to work around it to keep you comfortable.
